I liked him.

I still like him.

Very nice and helpful.

Can't think of anything.

You can be sure to get good care through him.

I have regular check-ups and vitamin level checks every 3 months for first year.

Dr. Bock is the greatest. He took the time to let my wife and I know what I was in for. Fortunately for me, I came through everything very easy considering I had to be opened up after the LAP was done.

The office staff and ward nurses were great as well. Very attentive and private rooms made my hospital stay very nice.

Aftercare with Dr. Bock is very important. In fact, he will not preform surgery unless you have paid for 1 year with a health education specialist in advance.

I would highly reccommend Dr. Bock and the GH facility in Redmond to anyone looking into this surgery.

My first impression of Dr. Bock was that he has a very good sense of humor and really enjoys his job! My impression did not change throught the whole process, very concerned and caring person. Office staff was great. They are all very business with a good sense of humor to go with. Caring and understanding people. Everyone should know that they don't play around, they expect that you will follow their plan and play by the rules, because they know what works. On the other hand they are there for you when you do stumble and make a mistake. A lot of emphasize on after care for the first year. A weekly call from a dietican and a vist every three months with either Dr. or his staff. Very strictired after care and phone contact or more if needed.
Risks of surgery were covered and explained very well, care in the hospital was beyond my expectations. Have had other abdomial surgery and had not recieved the care I did this time. Every thing was good from bedside manner to competence.

I have been very fortunte for this experience. If there was a bad part to this it was the bed at Group Health Eastside, they suck! but I just did not stay in it very much and once they knew I would get up they brought me another bed.

Dr. Bock is an awesome man. He is very compasionate and honest. Harriett and Bonnie, his nurses, are very helpful and genuine. I can not imaginge anyone not thinking the world of Dr. Bock and his staff!!

When I first called around to find out which Drs in the area performed lap surgery, I was surprised at how few there were. One of the first I tried was Dr. Webber's office. When I was told he didn't perform the lap surgery, I asked why and was told he didn't feel that the tools that were used for lap surgery were designed for people who are so large, therefore he would only do the surgery open. I PERSONALLY was NOT impressed. To my knowledge, this is the newest method and maybe an 'old dog' didn't want to learn a 'new trick'? Then she told me I would have to have a psych eval prior to surgery. I didn't understand the necessity of this, tho I've been told that it's not uncommon. She also said I had to exercise before the surgery(not a problem), that when she had her kids, she went thru 10 strollers because she walked so much, blah, blah, blah...she seemed very condescending. I've read here at this site many glowing reviews of Dr. Webber, and I'm glad he's helped so many others, but I was very put-off by his nurse and the implication she made that lap surgery was not designed for gastric bypass use in clients who are morbidly obese. If this were true, why are so many Drs now performing it this way?
When I spoke to Harriet at G.H., she answered all my questions honestly, without making it sound as if I was where I am because I was lazy. I mean, I know that this is part of my problem, but you don't have to put me in a position where I feel I have to defend myself when I'm looking for information to help myself. I was very impressed w/ G.H.'s policy of having a mandatory nutritionist's services for 1 yr. post-op. This made more sense to me than a mandatory psych eval. Dr. Bock spoke at a WLS support group meeting back in Oct., which was my first chance to meet him. I knew I had made the right decision when they were going around the room, asking people to introduce themselves and tell where they were in their WLS, including who the Dr. was who performed their surgery. Out of approx. 60 people, half of whom were post-op, with a total weight loss of over 3400#(WOW!!), there were maybe 10 who were going to have revisions, not one was a client of Dr. Bock. I won't say who had the most. To my knowledge, not all revisions are because of a problem developing, some are due to a client's decision that the original surgery may not have been as effective as they were expecting, but I want to get it right the 1st time, thank you very much. I have all the confidence in Dr. Bock and his staff being able to do that.

I liked Dr. Bock from my very first meeting with him. He is very kind, gentle, yet firm in his expectations of the aftercare. His staff is wonderful and caring. He truly emphasizes the aftercare and requires a $725 dollar payment to the nutritional program which lasts for a year after surgery.

I'm hoping he will be my surgeon if I'm approved for the surgery. I've heard good things about him. ...On May 3rd 2002 I met the man who will perform my surgery! He exceeds my expectations. I feel very comfortable to be in his hands during surgery. I'll let you know more when I'm post-op.

Dr Steven Bock is well respected, dedicated, professional, firm in his expectations & a very caring man. I liked him immediately. He does both the "Open" & "Lap" RNYs. That is the only procedure GHC covers. He is now training 2 other GHC surgeons to help the many patients wanting surgery. GHC Eastside Hospital in Redmond is the place with caring staff & private rooms. So far, I would rate everything excellent. Aftercare is on-going with dietary & MD follow-up thru the GHC Bariatric Program.
