My first impression was wow he is young and cute. Is he old enough to be doing this operation. I found him to be a super surgeon. His staff is very friendly but not obese. Individuals who have been obese seem to relate better. I have found nothing I dislike about him. Anyone who is considering him don't hesitate to move forward. He has a very structured program which emphises all the risks of surgery. I would rate him a 10 out of 10. If I didn't have the bandages to prove I had surgery I wouldn't know I had it. I was blessed to have found him.
I had surgery today! Yes, today, and I feel wonderful. I had Lap Band. He was awesome! I am nearly pain free. He fixed my hernia (I didn't even know I had a hernia). He was wonderful and pleasant. I am extremely happy with the entire experience. I feel so informed. His clinic has a great routine set up to make sure you get all the information you need. I really never had a bunch of questions because I was informed of everything verbally and on paper.
I feel I chose the right surgeon. He is and was very thorough. During my surgery he notice a problem with my liver,did a biopsy right then. My gastro Dr. praised him for his decision. We arnre on top of it now. He follows his patients very closely. I learned this for my self as well as comments from the nurses.rn I would rate him a ten in all aspects of my care.
My first impression of Dr. Lavin and his staff was great!! His front office staff is very pleasent and got me back in a timely manner. His nursing staff was well knowable and helpful. The dietician made me feel comfortable and postitve I could actually go through with this. More to come later..
Dr. Lavin has a great reputation and after meeting him, it is easy to see why. He has a perfect combination of confidence and compassion. I know he has given the RNY speech a billion times, but he delievered it like it with grace. Dr. Lavin answered my questions, even a personal one - do you believe in God? So thankful he does, but I would have stuck with him even if he didn't. rnrnI also have to comment on how well his program is run. It is like a well-oiled machine and when going through an experience as complex as WLS, that is important. I don't have one unkind thing to say about my journey thus far regarding the process and professionals I have met on this journey.
I met Dr. Lavin after my slip. He was my sister's surgeon with her lap band. I like his bed side manner. He's been consistant with his patient rapport with me. The office staff is wonderful. They are very friendly and make you very comfortable and encourage you on your visits. There is a structured after care program that is very important considering that i'm an old band patient and I know there will be plateaus I'll hit. Overall, Dr. Lavin's surgical competence and bedside manner together are superior I would highly recommend him to any one in the area seeking to find a bariatric surgeon.

I had no doubt in my mind that I wanted him to perform my surgery.rnI met him at my pre-op appointment, he was very professional and answered my questions.rnHe encourages you to have your fills once a month. This is included in the fee. I barely remember seeing him after the surgery. I wish I would have been more awake when he came to see me.
Dr Lavin and his staff were wonderful. He has a very calming, nonjudgemental personality. rnHis staff is very knowlegable and dependable.rnI have not been good at post op follow up, so I can't comment alot on their follow up, but everything else was great.
