William Kastrinakis, M.D. Bariatrics Bariatric Center

My first impression of Doctor William Kastrinkas was a very reserved and quiet man, with a gentle demeanor. Doctor Kastrinakis is fairly new to the challenges of treating morbid obesity. I was his 55th patient, and this surgery is not his entire practice, nor does he want it to be. Dr. Kastrinakis is one surgeon of three in their practice that performs this type of surgery. The gastric by pass surgery for obesity,is a fairly new program that has been brought to Salem Hospital, Salem, Massachusetts 2 years ago. Jane Christensen is the medical co-ordinator for the program and a gastric by pass patient herself having the operation done in Boston 4yrs ago. Jane has lost 150lbs and has kept it off for the past 4yrs. Jane's ability and knowledge of the plight of the severly obese patient had a great impact on my decision to have my surgery at Salem Hospital. The staff at the office and hospital was superior. Salem Hospital has the most extensive aftercare program I have ever encountered. Once a month their is a support group for new and existing patients only. Salem also requires a 13 week aftercare program at their Heart and Wellness Center. This consists of once a week for 3 hours. You are given nutrional counseling, exercise classes, and group time to discuss concerns and the program in general. All said and done I would highly reccomend Dr Kastrinkas as a surgeon and would think of no other place I would have chosen to have this surgery.

my first impression was, god hes young. but hes really nice, and he has been doing weight loss surgeries for a while and he genuinely understands us and is very compassionate. his office and the comprehensive weight loss management program he and all his patients are in are fabulous. they understand, they truly care, and are there with us throughout. the post op is wonderful. there are support group meetings we must attend, excersice classed we must attend, and trips to the dietician and surgeon on a regular basis. they dont leave you after the surgery is over, and that is that i love about this program i am in. yes he did explain the risks, but i was well aware of them anyway, because of what i have learned from everybody here at this site.i give him and his group the very highest rating so far and am thrilled i found them. i of course i think ssurgical competence is better, but the bedside manner is so much better fo the patients peace of mind, and that is what i have. peace of mind.
