When I met Dr Beekley I was wanting to get a Lipoma removed. He gently asked me why I had not continued on the Bariatric Pathway. I said I was scared. He sat down and chatted with me. He took the time to answer my questions shared my fears and he actually said If I wanted to have the GBP he would be happy to be my surgeon.

2 weeks later I started on the pathway. I had my surgery March 17th. It took about 4 months from beginning to end with Christmas in there so there were a few delays.

The day I went in for surgery Dr Beekley was fantastic. My husband had some questions and he patiently answered all of them. His follow up is great.

I went in after surgery for a post op check up/ complaint. I was admitted immediately for dehydration that turned into other things however Dr B was by my side when I needed him. I told him I wanted to see him and not the team he has. He came in on his day off and made a special trip to see me. I love him and I will miss him when we pcs.

I first saw Dr. Beekley for a surgical consult where he was so kind and patient and spent well over an hour with me explaining everything. I had the vsg done on April 27th at Madigan Army hospital. Dr. Beekley was so nice and had a great sense of humor as well as a great bedside manner. I am so glad I had the "A" Team. So far I have not had any complications and have lost 38lbs. Thanks to the skills of Dr. Alec C. Beekley! Anyone who has him for a surgeon will be very lucky!

What an extremely kind and dedicated surgeon. I first saw Dr. Beekley in regards to breast lumps that were found. He got me through that surgery then took the time to address my issues with my weight and failed RNY. I had talked to my primary care doctor who told me that I needed to accept that I was fat and always would be. I talked to anyone that I thought may listen but no one did til Dr. Beekley. Best yet was that he approached me with the conversation. I didn't have to mention it. He took me under his wing (which is a pretty amazing wing) and revised my previous RNY. Everything about his is wonderful. He is never in a rush and makes you feel like you are his only patient during the time you are with him. He answered all of my silly questions, humored my worries and still made me feel optimistic. During my low days were weight loss was slow, he encouraged me to keep with it. He told me something that I hold on to and inspires me. In one specific conversation we had about exersize, I told him "I feel like I'm gonna die" and his reply was "when you feel like you are going to die, you have to go a little further". Morning of surgery, he was as kind as in clinic. After surgery, I saw him on a regular basis. A few times he has found me in tears and talked me down more than once. His aftercare is just as wonderful. I know that as Dr. Beekley's patient, I have gotten the best care that I could possibly have. I am sad to see him retiring but honored to have been his patient. I would recommend him to anyone and everyone!

I have met my surgeon only once at this point, however he was awesome. I ahve to meet with him in abouy another month for our pre-op. I am having my surgery in a military hospital and most Dr. in their are not very caring I found thid to be untrue of Dr. Beekley right away he asked the right question had apamplet with pictures and let me make an informed desicion on which procedure I was opting for. I wil have more on Nov 9 after seeing him again. I am scheduled at this tidme for NOV 20, 9 days before my 35th birthday and the greatest present I will ever get is a fighting chance to change for the better and feel normal in public!

I haven't had the surgery yet so I can not attest to his bedside manor. So far so good though. He is very patient and takes his time with all my silly questions. He is no longer in Fort Campbell though, he is now at Fort Lewis, Madigan Hospital. I will write more after my surgery, I should know a little more then.

What a wondreful experience. He was able to explain every answer to my many questions in a way that I could understand. No medical terms that dont make sence. I hope to have such a wonderful doctor at our next duity station.

See my comment on Dr. Beekley under Kathy Loomis-Fort Campbell, KY.
By the way, there was a couple of other comments on Dr. Beekley but his name spelling was wrong and we had like 3 Beekley spellings on this site. This site now has the proper spelling, but the other comments are gone from the mispelled names along with those names.
He is a very good surgeon. And there was other positive comments on Dr. Beekley.

On my first meeting with Dr. Beekley he was very thorough with explaining the surgery and complications. When I meet someone I get an instant "feeling" about the person. I totally felt as ease with Dr. Beekley as if I knew him for years. His surgery is more extensive then the normal RNY, but again I feel fine with his selection of surgeries. 6March02-I called Dr. Beekley's office and left a message. He called me back in about an hour. I talked to him a little more about the epidural and morphine drip. And I asked him when he thought my date would be and he gave me the month of April. I felt like he was in no hurry to get me off the phone. I appreciate his time. 17July02-Dr. Beekley did a great job on my surgery. No complications so far. I am able to eat fine and "normal" at least as normal as a smaller stomach allows. He will be leaving the Ft. Campbell area and head to Ft. Lewis, WA around the end of this month. I highly recommend Dr. Beekley! He has been a God Send to several of us at Ft. Campbell! Thank you Dr. Beekley for being a part of our lives!<br>
NOTE: His secretary Jerry is really nice. Of course I think she dreads our Thursday's support meeting because usually after the meetings a few ladies will go down and see what is up with their surgeries. 17Jul02 Jerry seems to be real happy these days. Of course right now she has a break from the pre-ops since we don't have the surgeon's to continue the gastric bypasses. But that will change come August. Notes to future FTC pre-ops: Jerry is human too! Be nice to her. The surgery clinic staff: They have all been great as well.
