I met with Dr. Moazzez a couple of months ago. I thought he was very nice and maybe more serious about the surgery than I was. At the time I didn't really think that my insurance would pay but his office did all the work once I provided them with all my background medical & weight information. He gave me a huge 3 ring binder filled with information about the surgery and all of the appointments I needed to make in order for him to have a full picture of my mental & physical health. I didn't do any of these things until 3 weeks later when I was approved. Fairoaks Hospital has a coordinator to help in scheduling everything.
I went last week for my pre-op appt. and was put on a low carb 30g & high protein 70g diet to help me shrink my liver and get used to controlling what I'm eating.

8/17/2005: DR. MOAZZEZ IS FABULOUS. I WOULD RECOMMEND HIM TO EVERYONE. He has the best bedside manner and treats you like a human being. I felt very much at ease with him and even more so after the surgery. He takes his time with you and answers all your questions. His staff has been great to and I actually enjoy talking to them when I come in or call the office.
3/4/2005: I met with Dr. Chebli regarding GBS. Like all the others have said he is a very handsome man, nice and to the point. I waited in the lobby, which is tiny (standing room only at one point) for nearly an hour to see him. I got weighed by one of his staff members. When I finally got in to see Dr. Chebli he asked a few questions, examined my stomach area, took a few measurements and went on to tell me about the surgery. He handed me a 2 inch binder loaded with information about GBS and went through the list of appointments that I would need to get done before the surgery. He did say that I will have to try to lose 10% of my weight before the surgery in order to help shrink my liver (that allows for him to manuever better during Lap surgery and helps with recovery). He also said that if at any point I GAINED WEIGHT he would cancel the surgery. Dr. Chebli did emphasis the importance of diet and exercise after before and after surgery. I would rate hime as very competant. His office is conveniently located next door to Inova Fair Oaks Hospital. I have to say his staff was okay, they kind of left me hanging when I got out of the consultation with Dr. Chebli I didn't really know what I was supposed to do next. I asked if I needed to schedule a follow-up appointment and they kind of looked at me like I should be telling them something. Overall the experience wasn't bad and I'm looking forward to having the surgery. Now it's a matter of insurance approval. I got the approval by TRICARE. I'm excited. I was a bit disappointed to learn that Dr. Chebli was leaving. I met Dr. Moazzez and he seems nice. He took the time to meet with me and he took the time to ask me if I had any questions. I have to say that my experience with the staff has gotten better and they were on top of the paperwork needed for approval. They handled sending all the paperwork for me and letting me know I had gotten approved in 4 days.

I liked him. Dr. moazzez had just joined a practice with Dr. Roll and Dr. Chebli. Dr. Roll retired and Dr. Chebli relocated to another state to follow his M.D. wife. I had no choice but to meet with Dr. Moazzez in this practice which is associated with Fair Oaks Hospital.
I had previously seen a different surgeon at a different hospital. I was a bit concerned with the original surgeon. He felt my stomach in a few areas asked a few questions and said ok when we get insurance approval we'll do the surgery.
Well, my concerns were I have a significant medical history, (diabetes, high blood press., obesity, lymphedema and etc.) I'm 57 years old and have a few wonderful grandchildren I like to help with.
I went on-line and learned a bit more about different surgeons and hospitals and decided I would benefit from group support meetings. I would prefer a complete medical clearance as is reguired by Dr. Moazzez.
It took 4 hours to get medical approval!!!
by Dr. M's office. It took a month to meet all medical requirements, i.e. blood work, chest x-ray, ultrasound for DVT and ekg.
I also had to have endoscopy in Fair Oaks.
I had to see a cardiologist. WOW, talk about thorough!
Let me add. I have worked in hospitals since I was 16. I started as a receptionist/switchboard operator to the secretary to the owner of a small hospital in New York. Then I went to x-ray school and advanced to become a cat scan technologist. So, unfamiliar to hospitals I am not.
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND FAIR OAKS HOSPITAL and DR. MOAZZEZ. Let me just end this by saying I would put my trust with Dr. Moazzez anytime. He is extremely sharp minded, bright and observant. Trust me nothing gets by this guy. It is a good thing!
