I started the program in December 2014 and had surgery early May of this year. So far I've lost 165 lbs and I feel great! D. Benedetto and his staff have been great and I would recommend them to anybody considering weight loss surgery.

I had the sleeve with Dr. Benedetto last month and I cannot believe how easy it was. After being so nervous about the surgery I had no pain and went home after one day. The support from the program has been incredible and I have already lost almost 30 pounds! I wish I had done this 5 years ago.

Excellent program. Great surgeon! I had looked into multiple programs on the North Shore and what made me choose NSMC was the support you get from their Heart and Wellness Program before and after surgery. None of the other programs seemed to offer that. Michelle was the best! My surgery went great and I was home after only one night and have not had a problem since. Highly recommended!!

Dr. Benedetto has performed weight loss surgery on myself, my mother and my two best friends. We have all done great - way better than people we know who have had their surgery at other programs. Dr. B is our surgeon for life!

I am going through the pre-op process at the NSMC Program now. So far my experience has been very good. I have been thinking about this for a while and actually started two other programs but chickened out. As soon as I met Dr. Benedetto and his team I was out at ease. He is so confident and composed that he has made me SOOO much less afraid. Hope to have my surgery in the next couple of months. Will keep you all posted.

Going with Dr. B and his program was the best decision I ever made! I just had my 6 month visit and have lost over 80 pounds and I have not had a single problem. Dr. B and his staff were so kind and supportive. My son is interested in medicine and Dr. B even offered to have him come to the OR! Really goes the extra mile. Love. love. love!

As someone who works in doctors offices I have met alot of docs and Dr. B is one of the best! I had my sleeve with him nearly three years ago and have had awesome results. Dr. B and his program supported me every step of the way. I just had my plastic surgery done and am ready to start my new life!

I have since sent both friends and family to Dr. B and they have all had awesome experiences as well. I couldn't recommend him or his program highly enough!

Dr. Benedetto is not a bad guy and I am sure he does care about his patients. He does have a funny way of showing it however and I am sure he loses patients because of his arrogance. The one thing I do feel very strongly about... in my opinion, he is not as confident in his abilities as he might lead you to believe with his attitude. To make a very long story short. I was 524.9 lbs when I originally saw him. His exact words were "You are enormous".. not what you want to hear from someone who is supposed to be helping you.... The bottom line is, he said he would operate if I got down to 450lbs. With the help of the Heart & Wellness center (who were fantastic!) I got down to 453. At my appt with him, he was happy with my loss but instead of immediately putting me on the liquid diet and scheduling me for surgery, he said, "Id like to see you lose another 30 or 40 lbs to make the surgery safer because the larger you are the more risks and I may open you up, not be able to do it and close you up.. do you think you can do that"? In his defense, I said "Yes, I think I can" Well. unfortunately I didn't. I gained weight and lost weight and gained weight and lost weight etc... If he had just put me on the liquid diet, I would have lost half of what he wanted me to in the 2 weeks on that! I take responsibility for putting on weight but I blame his lack of confidence in his skills as a surgeon for not being thrilled I lost 71.1 lbs and scheduling me right there!!! The reason I say this is because fast forward 2 years, and still suffering with my weight and after putting back on all 71.1 lbs I lost with about 10lbs interest, I found a surgeon that didn't even blink about my weight, didn't call me "enormous" and told me, "I am not going to judge you.... I am going to help you get your life back" and did exactly that. He was very confident in his abilities and was very surprised at the run around I had previously experienced. He said "don't worry about waking up in recovery and it not being done.. it will be done".... Now, NONE of this is sour grapes. This is the exact truth or I wouldn't put it in writing on a public board. Feel free to contact me with any questions you may have... especially if you are considering Dr. Benedetto and are north of 400 lbs. If you are lighter than this and do not mind the attitude, I am sure he is fine, but as I said, if you are high risk, don't waste your time. He isn't your man.

I do not like Dr. Benedetto. I thought he used his authority badly and that he attempted to mess with my head. Without asking the first question, he told me I needed counseling simply because I did not want to know my weight. I had just met this man and within 3 minutes, he's making a negative pronouncement on my mental health. As it happens, I am a former psychiatric social worker and did not take kindly to some asshole using his authority in an abusive way. Had he asked questions, he would have found that I was within 10 pounds of a normal weight, exercised religiously, didn't drink alcohol or carbonated beverages, etc. Basically, I was doing everything right. I just had one little quirk: I preferred to know how much I had lost rather than getting fixated on the number. I thought this was healthier for me. The nutritionist I was seeing agreed. Dr. Benedetto used this as a cudgel. I found another doctor. By the way, my nutritionist also left the program because she didn't want to work with him.

I had my original surgery at MGH but my insurance changed and Dr. Pratt would not see me anymore. I ended up with Dr. Benedetto by chance and I could not have been luckier! He treated me as if I was his own. He performed my repeat surgery laparoscopically and I have done great. I would recommend him to anyone.
