Beryl Harberg Bariatric Surgeon M.D.

Dr. Harberg is a no non-sense type of person with a professional attitude. He is not the warm, intimate type. He let's you know about the surgery and what is expected of you. He clearly lets you know that this is not a miracle operation and it will only work if you work with it. He answered every question that I had at the initial interview. My followup appt. isn't until August 29th but I look forward to going to his office and asking him all the questions that I have. I know he will answer them and not give me a lot of dressed up words but just straight facts.

Dr. Harberg is wonderful. I had my surgery 04/02/03. I have lost 120+ pounds and don't regret ever having it done. Dr. Harberg has a dry sense of humor but is honest and upfront about what needs to be done for this surgery to be successful. I needed that from him to succeed. He tends to scare people but he does it so that they know that this surgery is not the quick fix but a new way to learn to eat. I felt like a child learning to eat all over again but it has been well worth it. I can not say enough accolades for Dr. Harberg. He was wonderful and his office staff is awesome ladies too. His bedside manner can be gruff but he does it because he cares. He will leave no stone unturned as to what to expect from the surgery and what you will need to do to make it a success. He tells you upfront that if you aren't committed to this then he will not do the surgery. I appreciated that in his demeaner because he is not out to just make the money. He genuinely is concerned and wants to help you if you want it too.

Dr. Harberg comes across as almost comic like...he appears gruff and short. I had been warned beforehand. I found him to be very upfront and plain spoken. He told me just what to expect. He made sure I understood what the purpose of WLS is, and that I was going to be able to commit to sticking to the program. His office staff is terrific. Mitzi and Vicky are the maw dogs as far as taking care of business is concerned. After an hour with Dr. Harberg I started to see a very dry sense fof humor, which I appreciate. I give this man top marks!!!

I was a little worried initally, but meeting with him was wonderful. He took me into his office and spent at least an hour explaining the procedure and what to expect. I was VERY IMPRESSED and had a wonderful first impression. I felt very comfortable in his office and am certain that he is the right surgeon for me. He really takes an interest and wants to help his patients. He even gave us driving instructions to the mall so that I could go shopping. How many doctors would take that kind of time? His office staff is wonderful as well. I can see how some may see him as rough, but it is only for our own good. He wants to make sure that his patients know that this will not be an easy fix, he will give us the tool to lose weight, but it is up to us to keep it off.

Dr. Harberg was really straight forth and to the point I was really scared at first. But once we got a little futher in the visit and he realized I was aware of the life change and how serious the surgery was he lightened up. The staff is really nice I had no problems with them. He addressed every area the pros and cons. I rate him as a 10.

very straight-forward, and honest. yet very kind. his staff is hardworking, and very compassionate. I felt totally safe in his care. he let's you know the importance of aftercare. If i had to do this all over again, he would definitely be my surgeon of choice. 100% satisfaction.

Very,Very good explained everything to the T to me, and what I could expect from the surgery. He also took care of everything with my insurence, I didnt have to do any foot work or even have to talk to my insurence carrier.Aftercare was great, I had no problems what so ever.

Dr. Harberg can seem very abrupt when you first meet him. However, you can tell after talking with him that he wants to make sure that you are completely informed and aware of all the risks involved with the surgery. You can tell that he is there because he wants to help you make the decision that is right for you. You can tell that he is not there just to try to get paid because he does anything but sell the surgery to you. I would recommend him to anyone that asked.

Dr. Harberg isn't one to joke around or take obesity lightly (no pun intended). He is very "to the point" and expects people to be serious when making the decision for this life changing surgery. He is an awesome surgeon who took VERY good care of me. His office staff are very friendly and helpful. If you don't do exactly what he recommends, he will let you know how disapointed he is. He made it clear in the beginning that this surgery is merely a tool. It isn't the magical fix. I rate him as an excellent choice for anyone contemplating this surgery. His surgical competence outweighs his bedside manner. But then again I am a very friendly person who tends to joke around a lot. That just isn't his personality.
