I absolutely LOVE Dr. Lahmann!! His bedside manner is fantastic, and he has a goofy sense of humor that makes everything better whenever I have an appointment to see him. I've been trying to get approved and have bariatric surgery for the better part of 18 years - but he told me that it just wasn't my time yet. NOW is my time. And, I think he was right! I was approved in less than a week after all of my pre-requisites were fulfilled. I had surgery Oct 22, 2018 and couldn't be happier! I'll be seeing him for my two week post op followup on Friday and can't wait to see what he has to say.

After much research on the subject of WLS I determined it was the right choice for me. I scheduled seminars with several area surgeons including Dr. Lahmann. After attending his seminar I knew I had found the surgeon for me. He didn't sugar coat the process, the expectations, or the complications that could arise. He answered each question asked during the seminar with knowledge and patience. I attended the seminar in March and had my surgery in June of the same year.
I read all the information provided by the Center and adhered to his plan in the strictest sense. While others on OH negated some of the plan and information I have/had full confidence in Dr. Lahmann. I'm writing this review at 18 months post op and as a success. I lost over 100% of my ewl and have been maintaining for 6 months now. I was not without a few complications, at 6 months I had a hernia which I also went to Dr Lahmann for, he performed the surgery and just as with the RNY he originally did he was kind, informative and compassionate. Again at 9 months I had another surgery with Dr Lahmann and had my gall bladder removed along with some internal scarring. He again was informative and compassionate. I believe it is important to mesh well with your surgeon and their plan, both worked well for me. I have recommended him to several friends who have since had surgery with either him, or his partner Dr Joyce.

Dr. Lahmann is the best surgeon I could have wished for. I checked out other seminars and just was not impressed. Then I met Dr. Lahmann. He does surgeries in team form with Dr. Joyce, so during the surgery there are always two specialists by your side- very reassuring! His office staff and he are just so caring, friendly and knowledgeable, explain everything into detail and provided me with all the tools needed to succeed. They even have their own formula of bariatric vitamins that is better formulated than anything I've found on the internet or in stores! I highly recommend Dr. Lahmann & BMI surgery.

I am a VSG patient. I went to two different seminars. After not liking the attitude of the surgeon that did the seminar closest to my home in the NW suburbs of Chicago I went to a seminar at Silver Cross Hospital in Joliet presented by Dr. Brian Lahmann. My first impression of him was good. He is well spoken and very confident which helped me throughout the whole process as I was very nervous. What absolutely sold me on BMI surgery was that Dr. Lahmann & Dr. Joyce don't operate without each other. I don't know about you but I sure did feel better knowing I had 2 fully competent surgeons in the room at the same time. What also sold me on BMI surgery is that they reinforce their staple line with some kind of surgical mesh. Not all surgeons do this as I have watched different surgeons do the procedure on youtube.com. I was in and out of surgery in 45 min. they said. Silver Cross Hospital really takes care of these guys they helped design the rooms we stay in and the staff really does a wonderful job caring for their patients. Their was even a full size bench area for a loved one or support member to sleep on. I was really happy with my overall experience. Aftercare and support groups are all in place. While I plan to make all my Dr appointments it will be hard for me to take advantage of all the programs as I do live kind of far away from them. Overall, I was very happy that I found BMI surgery and would recommend them to anyone seeking weight loss surgery.

I can't say enough good things about Dr. Lahmann. He's the best! Easy on the eyes too, IMO!!! LOL He treats me like he genuinely cares. He's gentle, kind and very knowledgeable. This was my first surgery (except for giving birth) and it was a very good experience. I would highly recommend Dr.Lahmann to anyone considering bariatric surgery. He has a very comprehansive program for you before surgery, after surgery and beyond. He explains everything in detail and you never feel rushed or afraid to ask questions. My son and daugher in law had Dr. Lahmann's partner, Dr. Chistopher Joyce, and he is also an excellent surgeon. I would recommend either of this doctors to anyone in the Chicagoland area considering weight loss surgery. Their office is run effeciently and everyone is very professional and nice. I wish I had done this years ago, it's literally saved my life. I feel so much better. I've lost 91 lbs since my Realize band surgery on 5/4/2010. I feel fantastic!!!!

My first meeting with Dr. Lahmann was at a seminar. He was the first Dr. in a very long time who felt honest and just didn' beat around the bush. The more I got to know him the more I knew he was the one I wanted to do my surgery. Dr Lahmann was just so honest with me. He made me comfy with him at our first meeting. What I liked the least about him was no weekend hours...lol.
At the seminar where he spoke he was very clear that this can not be done without the aftercare. It is essential that this is taken serious and must be done. Dr. Lahmann was also very clear that if I was not going to do after care that there is no point cause surgery is NOT A FIX it's a TOOL and it only works if all the tools are used to build myself back up. When it came to the risks of surgery he was upfront and clear with me about all the issues that could happen and that it would be in my best interest to do as much research on all the surgeries and to be fully prepared for the if and or when's. Overall I would have no problem rating Dr. Lahmann on a scale of 1-10 he would be a 9. Nobody can be perfect that is for sure but he was really so honest and upfront and had no problem telling me it is what it is and it needs to be the whole game plan or none at all. I would have to say that one of the down falls to the doctor and office is that it is very busy and you can feel a bit lost in the shuffle but when it come to be your turn they all know who you are and why you are there and if there is anything that they can help you with. That is rare at a weight loss doctor's office. He was the first doctor that I had meet who was like that and didn't lie to me. Thanks Doc! I think you must have both in order to have a good experince. It in my mind don't work with just one. You need to have both in your doctor, surgical competence and bedside manner. If you don't have that in your doctor don't do it with that doctor.

I found Dr. Lahmann to be a nice guy and from all reports a very talented surgeon.rnrnNow having been a patient of Dr. Lahmann I feel he was the surgeon of choice for me. He's is caring and very talented and genuinely is interested in his patient's follow up care.rnrnI wish BMI had a support group that would meet more than just once a month as not everyone can always make an evening meeting, perhaps a Saturday a.m. meeting would be a good alternative.

Dr. Lahmann made me feel welcome and informed from the very first visit to the BMI Surgery office. He and his partner and their staff are knowledgable, dedicated and caring. They go above and beyond to keep patients informed.rn The pre-surgical education program is vital and well-done. After care is comprehensive as well. I had very rare complications a little over 9 months out in addition to some complications within days of my RNY and on both occasions, Dr. Lahmann and Dr. Joyce saved my life and showed concern for me and my family. Their surgical competence is only exceeded by their interpersonal skills in dealing with patients and their families.
