Carson D. Liu Bariatric Surgeon M.D., F.A.C.S.

Dr. Carson Liu is at the top of the field of Bariatric surgeons. My Lap Band experience has been incredible. I have lost over 75 pounds in 10 months. I am no longer obese!!!! It is through his support, caring staff and my commitment that this has happened. My health has improved dramatically. I no longer take any medicine for high blood pressure or high cholesterol. My energy level is fantastic, my body aches have gone away. Besides being a wonderful doctor who truly understands us over-eaters, Dr. Liu conducts monthly support groups which have help me stayed focus on my goals, allowed me to meet other Lap Banders and keeps me connected with the main focus of good health and good eating habits. I have been overweight for the last 20 years and I feel I have regained my life. One of the most rewarding aspects has been the pride my two sons have for me now that I have improved my health and that I am no longer obese. Dr. Liu changed my life January 8th 2010 at Cedar Sinai. I was picking over the idea of this surgery for the last 2 years and finally caved after the birth of my daughter. I was literally eating myself to death and with her in my life I wanted to be there for everything. At the time I also owned a pizza place that made it nearly impossible to take any weight off. I have dropped the store and the weight over the last couple of months.
In the decision making process to find a surgeon I was advised by my dr. to find someone board certified, which Dr. Liu is. After extensive searching and numerous phone interviews I made my appointment. I knew I was in the right place with the professional nature of his office manager and the rest of his office. Dr. Liu also convinced me he was the right guy b/c of his confidence and experience, I wasnt going to let any hack cut me open.
Once my surgery was scheduled I weighed in at 348lbs, thats after 2 days of the liquid diet, I weighed as much as 360lbs. I dropped 20 lbs. in the first week and progressively kept losing. I made sure to include as much walking and liquid consumption as I could manage. As of today 6.15.10 I weighed in at 274lbs and still consistently dropping. I owe this to Dr. Liu and would reccomend him to anyone, he has even done the surgery on my mother in law Connie and she is making amazing strides in her own weight loss. My goal is 210lbs and I am going to make it.

I had revision surgery Sept. 2008 with Dr. Carson Liu. His office staff are very nice and get back to you right away. Dr. Liu takes the time to listen, and for me that way key. I had gastric bypass with Dr. Terry Sanderfer in 2002 and suffered severely and thanks to Dr. Liu I am alive.I am going to post my story soon on obesity help.

Dr. Liu is a wonderful surgeon! My first impression and current impression of Dr. Liu is that he is a very kind and compassionate Dr. that really cares about his patients and what he does. His office staff is great and is always ready to answer to any of my question or needs. There isn't anything that I dislike of Dr. Liu or his staff they are all great people. Future patients should know that going through the bariatric weight loss process with Dr. Liu is one that you will never forget. Dr. Liu and his staff will make sure that you have a complete understanding of the weight loss journey you embark, and are with you every step of the way. After care is very important after surgery and Dr. Liu can't emphasize that enough to achieve your goal and get the support that you need after your surgery. Dr. Liu answered all my questions as far as the risk of surgery, which made me fill confident that everything would be just fine. Overall I would rate Dr. Liu as 11 on a scale from 1 to 10 :) I couldn't have picked a better surgeon. Thanks Dr. Liu!

I love Dr. Liu. He's been amazing through my whole process. He gets genuinly excited when I reach mile stones, like when I got under 200lbs for the first time in 10 years or when I finallly wasn't obese anymore!!rnrnHis office staff is really great and always nice. rnrnThe only negative thing is he's not very helpful with nutritional questions, he really believes each person has to find what works for them.rnrnOh and parking at his office is outrageous!! No validation for the parking lot sucks!

Dr. Liu was very pleasant at first site. He made me feel comfortable and he seem very knowledgable about the task at hand. My inpression of him hasn't changed at all. He always seemed to have a ginuine care for his patients. You don't feel just like a patient but a friend he's helping to improve their life. His office as a nice calm feel too it. With the reminders to eat healthy by having the fruit on the table and comfortable feeling. Future patients should know that he is going to take care of you. I had no complications at all after my surgery. I think his care is excellent also that of his staff members. I think that surgical competence is the most important thing for me and Dr. Liu knows what he is doing.

My doctor was very kind and caring. I immediately felt comfortable with him and trusted him with my surgery. The office staff was very friendly. I felt very informed and was given alot of literature and information regarding my aftercare. rnI would recommed him to anyone for this surgery.

I researched several surgeons and he was the most experienced in Lap Band in my geographical area. I had an easy surgery less than one day hospital stay with little or no post operative discomfort and was back at work the next day. I haven't completed the program yet so my final opinion is not complete, but overall to date I am very happy with his service.
