I liked Doctor Bertel he's very down to earth and quite to the point! (although if you don't follow his directions he gets upset which is understandable)
He explained ALL the risks of surgery very clearly and his bedside manner is very calm and personable. The office and staff were great!! If you have any problems AT ALL they strongly urge you to call no matter what time it is and if you have to leave a message, they are very quick to call you right back! I am currently a month out of surgery and my incision has healed WONDERFULLY!! The job they did on sewing me up is the best I've seen so far!! I have no complaints! (except the fact that I can eat almost anything and that scares me...BUT that could be due to GREAT healing!!)

Dr Bertel was made sure that I knew of all the risks involved. He was very good at answering my questions. He was very honest in telling me that he had not done to many Lap procedures, but he would be assisted by one of the other well known surgeons. The staff at his office was very friendly and easy to talk with. He was very specific about the after care, about what would be expected. Although I haven't had the surgery yet, I'm very confident in him and will let you know more later. :)

He seemed knowledgeable. Was very thorough in his explainizations. He makes sure you understand all the risks and the realities of this surgery.
The program in Duluth is a very thorough one.
It has you go farther than any of the ones my friends have gone through.
Because of where I carry my weight I only can have an open RNY. I will need to be out of commission longer, but it will be wonderful anyway.
