I researched and looked at several different surgeons. When I met Dr. Garner I knew he was the man to do my surgery. He is caring, informative, professional and knowledgable. The biggest thing I liked about him is that he is totally honest. He spends the time to talk to you, not in a rush to get to the next patient. I would recommend him to anyone wanting to get weight lost surgery. I also want to commend Dr. Garner's staff. They are all very caring and professional. They treated me with care and respect.

This is a very qualified surgeon, his bedside manner and professionalism is top notch. He explained everything to me pre-op very well, and kept my husband well informed of what went on and how to help in my recovery. His office staff is great, very friendly, helpful, caring, professional, good cheerleaders for the cause. I would definately recommend him for lap-band surgery, he also does the full gastric bypass surgery. Patients love him.

My first impression of Dr Garner was as though I've always known him. He was very easy to talk to and very sincere. The office staff was very supportive and helpful. Future patients should not hesitate to call on Dr Garner to be their surgeon. He was great! He is working on an aftercare program. I would rate Dr. Garner as a 10. His surgical competence and bedside manner is great! I honestly do not have anything negative to say about my surgeon.

I spoke today with the financial department at Winyah Surgical (DR. Garner's office) and they said that they only file the hospital portion of the fees with the insurance and I would have to pay for THEIR fees AND the part of the hospital fees that insurance won't pay UPFRONT! I don't have that kind of money. I figured that ALL of it would be filed on insurance and I would ONLY have to pay about $2,000 or $3,000 AFTER surgery. Not before surgery. Another thing that they said is that they do not perform Lap Banding, the only do OPEN banding and gastric bypass. He said that MOST people that have the Open Banding procedure end up having it reversed and get a gastric bypass. So this is the end of the road for me.

The first time I met Dr. Garner, I was very impressed. He took plenty of time with me and along with the literature he explained alot of what the surgery does and the whole process. He did not seem to be in any hurry and was listening to what I asked and had great answers. I know several people that he has performed the surgery on and they have done very well. It was really strange, when we saw each other for the first time, it was like I had met him before and he felt like he also knew me. He was very good with explaining to me all the risks, the foods, amounts and types, and what to expect over the course of a year. Also told me the do's and don'ts of the procedure.

Dr Garner is pleasant and very informative. Always explaining pros and cons. No my impression didn't change. The office staff was always kind and helpful and seems sincerely happy when you do well. Can't think of anything I don't like. He makes the process for gastric bypass very easy and comfortable. Yes, he address the risk of the surgery. Overall will rate him very competent. Although surgical competence is most important, you want a good bedside manner.

May 6, 2002-What can I say. Dr. Garner is abosolutely THE BEST surgeon for this surgery. I had my surgery on 5/2/02 and am now back home. I am extremely pleased with how the operation went and his truly caring approach to me as a patient. He took the time to answer any and all of my questions (and I ALWAYS have questions for him). He alleviated alot of my fears both before and after the surgery. I could go on and on. Dr. Charles Garner is fantastic! Would highly recommend Dr. Garner to anyone in the Myrtle Beach/Conway/Georgetown area. Why go to Charleston or further for the surgery when you have the absolute best right here!!

I am extremely pleased with his approach to the before and after care, the nutritional advice given, and his support. He takes this surgery seriously and makes every attempt to ensure that the patient is aware of their decision and that it is a life-altering surgery. It is not meant for cosmetic reasons. Like I said, I could go on and on about Dr. Garner and his staff. The best around!!

Pre-op: I have had four prior surgeries performed by Dr. Garner since October 2000. The gastric bypass will be my fifth. Very professional and very personable! His office staff is the best there is!! Brian, the administrator, knows how to make the paperwork flow the easiest way. Brian is a truly blessing and a lifesaver. Thanks Brian!!

April 12, 2003 - YEAH!!!!! I recently went in for a 3 month check up. I am officially in the CENTURY CLUB now. I started out at 269.5 and am now 165.4. That is a loss of 104.5 in a little over 11 months. I have gone from six medications a day to one. That is Synthroid, and I will be on that one for the rest of my life--but I can live with that.

I'VE ONLY BEEN TO HIM ONCE, FOR AN INITIAL CONSULTATION. HE IS VERY NICE AND VERY INFORMATIVE. ANSWERS YOUR QUESTIONS AND EASY TO TALK TO. I KNOW OF 2 OTHERS WHO HAVE USED HIM AS THEIR SURGEON AND THEY BOTH HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT GOOD THINGS TO SAY ABOUT HIM. I'M WAITING ON INSURANCE APPROVAL. IT'S BEEN ALMOST 2 WKS. ANXIOUS BUT TRYING REAL HARD TO BE PATIENT. TRUSTING AND BELIEVING IN GOD THAT ALL WILL WORK OUT. ROAMANS 3:28 SAY "ALL THINGS WORK TOGETHER FOR GOOD, TO THEM THAT LOVE GOD, TO THOSE WHO ARE CALLED ACCORDING TO HIS PURPOSE". I'M BELIEVING THIS WILL ALL WORK OUT FOR THE GOOD. THOSE OF YOU THAT KNOW A WORD OF PRAYER, PRAY FOR ME AND I'M PRAYING FOR YOU ALL. I LOVE THIS WEBSITE. IT IS SO SUPPORTIVE TO KNOW THAT THERE ARE OTHERS OUT THERE WHO EXPERIENCE THE SAME THINGS I EXPERIENCE AS A MORBIDLY OBESE PERSON. IT IS ALSO ENCOURAGING TO LOOK AT THE BEFORE AND AFTER PICTURES. ONE DAY SOON, I'LL BE POSTING MINE.

Well, just about everything has changed. I had a surgery date, then they had to cancel. Then I ended up moving to South Carolina. Now I have had to start all over. I haven't even gotten an appointment yet, I juat found out about him. I hear he is really good at this surgery, and he is supposed to be very handsome! Like I want a handsome doctor looking at me naked the way I look!! Oh well, it will be worth it.
