I think Dr. Kowalski is fabulous. I have not had the easiest journey so far (I am writing this at 6 days post surgery). He never pulls the punches with me, doesn't try to soft pedal anything. I understand exactly where I am with him, and he has done everything he can to make this work. His PA, Josh, is wonderful, and deserves a big hug just for answering 2am pages from worried patients.

I saw a different surgeon at the end of May 2010 and told him on my first visit that I had bipolar he did not say anything about it, so we began my 3 month Dr supervised weight loss and did the necessary testing one of the requirements was to spend $150 to go through their presurgery class. At the beginning of October the 1st surgeon told me that he would not do the surgery because I was bipolar and the statistics show that people with this illness do not do well. I do not know why he strung me along for so long if he would not do the surgery due to a condition that he knew about all along. He did give me the recommendation of Dr Kowalski's office, and I am glad he did!

Dr Kowalski and his staff jumped through the hoops quickly for me. I had already met my out of pocket responsibilities for 2010 so I needed to have surgery by 12/31/2010

The day that I heard that the jerk (I can not even remember his name now) would not do my surgery I called Dr Kowalski's office. One of the first questions that I asked was (I have bipolar, will that be a problem for your Dr's). The person I was talking with went and asked rather than giving me a canned answer. When she returned she said that it should not be a problem, but that it would have to be up to Dr Kowalski and he would let me know on my first office visit. I got lucky and they had a initial class the next night. I attended and we quickly got my first appointment scheduled. When I met Dr Kowalski for the first time I told him my story and that I only had till 12/31 to get everything completed. Once we discussed what tests and insurance hurdles I had already completed he was very encouraging that we should be able to make the time line. Off we went at a run. I can not tell you how hard the office staff worked to get everything done so that they had the necessary time to get the insurance approval.

The day of surgery came on 11/29/2010 well before my cut off date! Dr Kowalski came into the preop area as my priest was anointing me with the healing oil. He stayed as Fr Bill prayed for both Dr Kowalski and myself. We then moved on to Dr Kowalski telling us the expected timeline for the day and the normal recovery in the hospital as long as nothing else came up. He then asked if I had any questions. Next he did something that I did not expect. He took the time to ask my husband and Dad if they had any questions. That really touched me, he cared enough about me as a person that he wanted to be sure my family was able to get comfortable with the level of caring that he had as a surgeon. I was a person not just another body with $$$ written on my belly.

Dr Kowalski and his staff never make you feel like you only have a part of their attention. They make me feel like I am the most important person that they are working with. Even though I am post surgery they have not left me hanging out there to fend for myself. Just this week I have come across an issue that I am not sure if it is surgery related or medicine related, and they were quick to reply with the answers that I needed.

I get my vitamins and shakes from Dr Kowalski's office. When I do they always ask if there is anything I need or want when I go in even though I do not have an appointment scheduled. I could get my vitamins and shakes online at the same price, but I still choose to make the drive to their office because of the personal attention that I receive.

I know that this post is a very positive review, but in the 13 months that I have been working with this Dr and his staff they have never given me anything negative to say.

So far I have been very happy with the level of service provided by Dr. Kowalski and his staff at KC Bariatric. They have never made me feel like I was pestering them (when I was!) and have been nothing but kind and helpful.

Dr. Christopher Kowalski is an amazing surgeon. He provided the perfect balance of confidence and compassion. I was secure in my decision to have RNY but Dr. Kowalski managed to make me feel more at ease with my decision. During the intitial consult he made sure all of my questions were answered and I was secure with the responses. The support I am receiving from his office post-op is great! They staff is attentive and they make sure I have everything I need. Choosing Dr. Kowalski as my surgeon was definitely a great move!

My first impression of Dr. Kowalski was that he was professional and dedicated to the success of his bariatric weight-loss patients. He was extremely thorough. I had several consultations and classes to attend before receiving the go-ahead. My impression of Dr. Kowalski only improved over time. His office staff are so incredibly loving and professional. Future patients under this Dr.'s care should know that he is good, exceptional even, and practices evidenced-based medicine! Aftercare is stressed throughout the lifetime following bariatric surgery and he does have a structured aftercare program which is strongly emphasized. Surgery risks were discussed at length prior to the procedure, and consistently afterwards. I would rate him and his office staff 10 stars at least....or 100! While I was in the hospital, he came to see me all 3 days I was in-patient, and changed my dressings to the abdomen!!! His surgical competence and bedside manner were both commendable bigtime!!!!!

Dr Kowalski took his time to show myself and my husband how the lab band would be put in place and would work.
He is hard working and cares about his paitents. The office staff is so friendly the more you go there, they really get to know you and remember you. He keeps in touch with my Primary DR and she loved that fact. When I went to see her for a follow up appointment she was amazed at all the info he had sent her about the surgery. Yes they have a wonderful after care program.
I had a few problems during surgery and he addressed them as they came along. He has a wonderful bed side manner. He takes his time to discuss problems with my self and family.
I would highly recomend him to anyone.

My first impression was actually wow this guy seems really nice and laid back which almost worried me at first but then I realized he is so nice, knows what he is talking about, and is incredibly knowledgeable! He explained all three surgery's in detail and the risks of each.

My first impression of Dr. Kowalski was that he was a very kind man and a very competent surgeon and that has not changed. When I met him the first time, he went over all over the risks of surgery and made sure that I understood all the aspects of Lap-Band surgery. The aftercare has been wonderful. Whenever I have had questions or concerns, they have always been addressed in a very timely manner. The staff at KC Bariatric are terrific. They are very competent and very concerned about the patients. I would rate Dr. K as a 10. His surgical competence and bedside manner are both great.

I have to admit that I was very nervous before meeting Dr. Kowalski. I was even wondering if this was an Assembly Line process when the first thing they asked for before I could see the doctor was my "Non Refundable" Program Fee of $500.

Dr. Kowalski was very personable. He seemed to take as much time as was necessary to answer my questions. I felt much better after talking to him.

I would definitely recommend him.
