Liked him very much.
Received negative comments about him from others but I found them to be untrue. He was very, very honest and upfront with me.

Office staff was exceptional.

Don't know of anything I didn't like about him.

That he is very frank with his patients.

Dr. Black was very friendly and polite. My impression of him has not changed. He was consistently friendly and concerned about my well being. The staff at Dr. Blacks office were friendly and professional. Dr. Black was very detailed in explained the risks and benefits of having the gastric by-pass surgery. He takes pride in doing a great job. He took his time and did not rush through any of the steps leading up to my surgery and post op. He was very professional throughout the entire process. He was the best surgeon for me and I have a great amount of respect for his work. I would recommend Dr. Black to any serious able having the gastric by-pass.

My first impression was, I thought he was the sweetest man, he talked to me more like a friend than a patient. His office staff was wonderful people. To be honest, I found nothing that I did not like about Dr. Black.
He was upfront and very honest with me from the start, even told me things he did not have to tell me so, I knew he wanted to help. He made sure I knew the Do's and the don'ts about the surgery. That is was not a quick fix that I would still have to follow good eating habit's even after the surgery which, we all know that we should have done all along. To me, Dr Clifford Black is a life saver to me and always will be. I had alot of family and friends that were not too comfortable with this surgery and I understood their concerns but, for me...it was do or die, that was just the point to where I was. I have lost 140 pounds and I am doing great 2yrs. and 4 months out. I really can eat just about anything I want too, I just have to use my head, I know what I can and can not eat. I am more alert now about how much fat, carbs,and sugar are in foods so, I watch these things very close. If you have tried excersize, diets and nothing seems to be working, I fully recommend Dr. Black, trust me..you will not regret it. Now, I am just looking to get the loose skin removed and all will be complete. Good luck to everyone and God Bless!!!!

I felt very comfortable and relaxed when meeting Dr. Black for the first time. I felt he was very knowledgable and open to any questions I had. Even went as far as to input what he thought I might want to know and hadn't thought to ask. Risks were discussed immediately and the percentages were outstanding. Dr. Black's office staff is very caring and happy/upbeat always. I haven't seen anything that would cause me to worry about Dr. Black. I am still waiting for my surgery and can update here more afterwards.

Dr. Black is great! Staff was very helpful and supportive. He tells you from the very beginning this procedure is life changing and you must be willing to change your old habits to be successful. Aftercare is
structured, excercise and eating right is a very important part of the post-op process.
The overall rating for Dr. Black is excellent. He is the only one I would let do my surgery. His competence and bedside manner is very important and was excellent.

1st~ Impression:Seen Dr.Black.... He was very straight to the point! Very Polite and really seemed to care. Answered all questions that was ask...He never rushed the consult...All in all....I felt confident in his ability. He also came highly recommended!!!

Insurance workers~....I've only spoke with Marty and will say, I ask for her the few times that I did call. I read other messages that she was a really Nice person....They were right....She was Always...Polite and Very Kind !!!

Surgery Scheduler~ Jennifer...Can tell she has a lot going on...When I "have" spoke with her....She was very Polite and Tried her Best to answer all of your questions. She has always returned your call super quick. Soooooo....... "Now" Just Waiting for a "Date".

I put my trust in Dr. Black because both my parents have used him for various reasons in the past. My dad had gastric bypass surgery in September. He was hospitalized for a month with different problems...nothing directly related to his gastric surgery. He spent a lot of time checking on my dad and went out of his way to keep in touch with the other Dr.'s associated with his case. Even when he had to go out of town for a weekend, he assured us that he would be checking back in with his assistant and the other Dr.'s. Dealing with Dr. Black from a "worried daughter" point of view strengthened my trust in him when I decided to be on the patient end. In all my experiences with Dr. Black, he's taken plenty of time for his patient as well as the worried family. As far as his surgical competence....my dad was the first patient that he had to "open" due to an enlarged liver. Because of his great skill and competence, my dad has been given a new life.....6 months and 80+ pounds later!!!!

02-14-04 Clifford Black is an excellent surgeon. I have had NO complications, and am doing very well now. I would reccomend anyone to him, it is worth the wait. He is very knowledgeable, kind, and cares about his patients. I wasnt really sure about some of the office staff, at first, but i guess i had caught them on a bad day..they have been very nice since my surgery. I am 5 months out now, and down 101 lbs. from 343 to 242. I am taking no insulin, and only 50 mg of bp meds now...much better than 100 units twice a day of insulin, and 200 mg of bp meds.

05-28-03 I had my first consult visit with Dr. Black's partner, Dr. Hegstrom, on May 20th . He was very informative about the surgery, answered every question i had, had a very good disposition. My first appointment with Dr. Black will not come until i am approved for surgery. The doctors insurance person, Marty, told me it might be a week to 2 weeks before she got my paperwork sent to my insurance company. I hate waiting, but am resigned that i will do what it takes to get this surgery done and my health back. I called my insurance company today and they havent received anything from Dr. Blacks office yet, but i am hoping it will be soon, as i need to have this done during the summer months, because i can get help from family out for summer vacation with my 2 girls, one of which is disabled and needs lots of care, including help to stand from the floor(basically lifting 65 lbs.). I am trying to be patient, but it is hard. I do realize this doesnt happen overnight, but hope it happens soon.
