Dr. Geller did a revision to the Lap Band on me in 2007. I had the Gastric Bypass in 2002 and started gaining weight back so decided to have a revision. I am very pleased with his bedside manner. With his help I have reached the WLS goal of losing 75% of my excess weight.
I'd still like to get to that "magic number" but I am sooooo happy with how I look and feel right now. I still see Dr. Geller a couple times a year for a "fill" and that helps keep me on track.
If you're looking for a caring, smart, experienced surgeon, Call Dr. Geller, he'll take good care of you.

Well, I must say that I am Dr. Gellers first. The first person he revised from the RNY to the lap band. He said once he trimmed away some scar tissue, placing the band was just like placing it on someone who hasn't had previous weight loss surgery. He used a bigger band to accomodate the scar tissue, but all went well. rnThank you Dr. Geller, for your expertise, your excellent bedside manner, and your wonderful caring staff. I am sooooo happy!!! rnUpdate 2009-I'm still under the care of Dr. Geller and I still think he's the best. He is very thorough and spends time answering questions and giving advice. He takes very good care of me.

I am very happy I chose Dr. Geller. He and his staff are extremely helpful and very personable. I have had many issues with my band but Dr. Geller keeps working with me to find solutions to any problems I face. His Staff is very considerate and friendly. Since having my surgery I have referred 2 of my sisters who have had their surgery, a friend who had her surgery and two other friends who are a husband/wife team that Dr. Geller will be performing their surgery in April and May of 2011. Thank you Dr. Geller for your patience, care and understanding.

Dr Geller was very good at explaining the surgery and was personable. They claimed to have an after care program but truely I can't see that they had much of one. I had complications from the surgery. I got MRSA and needed wound care for 4 1/2 months after surgery, once this happened I was pretty much abandoned by Dr Geller. He rarely returned a phone call and I felt like I was left to deal with the aftermath of the surgery by myself.

I had my surgery, outpatient, with Dr. Geller. I was caught up in the middle of the BCBS/Norton insurance debacle in July/August, 2009 so had to have my surgery at Dupont Surgery Center. They were amazing!!! I am so glad I went there! Dr. Geller was great. I recently had to get my band unfilled and then refilled. He is very friendly and speaks to you as a person. He repeats the same thing over and over again because those are the facts of how to use the band - which I like because it reminds me everytime. He wants you to succeed. His staff - Pam and Celisse are great! They are cool and very, very accommodating. Celisse definitely knows how to make you feel guilty about not doing what is right - which is a good reminder of why you had the surgery. She does it in such a cool smooth way - she doesn't even say anything - but you know that is what she is thinking. Dr. Geller knows its a battle every day. Whether you are up or down, they are supporting you. They don't expect you to be perfect - but they expect the lapband to be used as a tool. You still have to defeat your own demons. They always are busy but they always fit me in when they can. No hidden fees...no bull....just do what you are supposed to do and it will work. I highly recommend Dr. Geller.

Dr. Geller was laid back, made me feel comfortable, listened to me, listened to my husband, was not in a hurry, did not overglamorize the surgery but did present with confidence in his own skill. The office staff was laid back too. After my surgery however it seemed that the Dr. was agitated and maybe a little angry about his"patients" not knowing what to eat and what to do in crisis situations... he was not very receptive to suggestions and seemed to put blame on me for not remembering some of the diet rules and ins and outs, It seemed like after the surgery he was not very accessible and when you had a question or were freaking out you just talked to the secretary or office staff who would say well you are the one who wanted to have this surgery so you could not eat They seemed at times to be a bit jaded and not too concerned about the aftershock. The aftercare program consisted of a support group that was pretty boring and educational in nature and apparantly it is something they have to do to keep accreditation. The support groups and even the mailings seemed shame based to me and lacked true positive motivational messages. The risks of surgery were explained well and the Dr. did a great job on my surgery. I dont think there is an aftercare program really, you have to get your own labs done with your own PCP or whoever and if you have any questions about nutrition or eating its up to you to call a nutritionist and look for answers, they aren't really knocking down the door to educate you or support you after it is all said and done. I picked My Dr. because of his bedside manner. Luckily, he also did a great job on my surgery. I dont think I would have done as well as I did if my Dr. had been rude and condescending through the process. So I got what I wanted and its working. I guess I will find another Dr. to help me follow up now that it is over. Maybe thats the plan.... Dunno. Too bad, he was kinda cute too.. haha NOTE: I am explicitly stating that these were just my personal impressions of my own personal experience and I am making no statement about what other people may experience. : P
