What a really nice man! He made me feel like he really cares about getting this surgery done for ME and not to line his pocketbook or build up more surgical experience. He took the time to go over everything very thoroughly and actually took my height, weight, vitals and gave me a brief physical. I've only met the man once, but I already like him very much.

Dr. Rohrer is truly as great as everyone said -- very kind, patient, and understanding. He doesn't make you feel like you did something wrong by getting to this point and wanting surgery. He was great explaining things to my husband as well. He detailed the risks, but put them in realistic terms -- if you don't have surgery you are at risk, too. I would highly recommend that you take your spouse with you to your appt (if applicable) -- he was totally against it before we met with Dr. Rohrer. Lisa is very efficient and cheerful (she even made my husband go across the room when I weighed!). I don't know much about aftercare yet, but there is a support group going now that was great, and Dr. Rohrer supports it 100% (meets last Thurs of the month, Benefis West). Dr. Rohrer insured me that he does many many of these each week, now laparoscopically, and I am sold on him in all aspects. Will let you know if that changes LOL (don't expect it will!). Post op note: Yes, he's really that good. Surgery complete with no complications.

I first met Dr. Rohrer when he did surgery for my husband. I thought he was a very caring doctor who took time to listen and explain what he was doing and what we could expect. So when I found out he also did RNY's I went right to him.
My impression of him has not changed over the year it has taken me to finally get the surgery approved.

I find his office staff, Lisa, to be very helpful and kind. She has been very nice to me on the phone and in the office.

There is nothing I can say here. Dr. Rohrer has always been good to me.

Yes, he strongly emphasizes aftercare and has a structured aftercare program. This will help me with keeping on track with things and having a resource if I run into problems.

He addresses the risk right up front. He explains how he does the procedure and what complications are possible. His rate of infections is none!

My first impression, as well as later ones, are of a very caring, dedicated professional.

When MUST wrote back denying coverage, though, his receptionist, Lisa, never did get it that the insurance was openly aasking for several pieces of information that had not been given in the right way. Oh, they sent in all the 3/4" of records, but did not send anything describing where the specific answers to specific questions could be found. To top it off. This surgery is not covered for WEIGHT LOSS, but would be considered/possibly approved for treatment for some other debilitating condition, ie depression, hypothyroid, etc. But the letter from the doctor has to be worded that way, or it won't fly.

I only get to talk to Dr. Rohrer's receptionist, who just doesn't "get" this, and evidently doesn't care to try.

She has been annoying, to the point that I went to talk to Jake Allen. I like his support staff much better than Dr. Rohrer's.

But again, both Docs are good ones!

Dr. Rohrer is great! Very patient and nice. His staff seem to be very nice also. I met him on my initial consultation and did not see him again until March 12 - surgery day. I will see him in a few days for my first post op visit. Fortunately I have not needed to contact him since I have been home.
I would recommend him with out a doubt!

Very nice looking and seems to know his business. The more he spoke the more impressed I got.

He has great "bed-side manner." I was very comfortable with him. He was informative and factual about the outcome and any risks involved. His nurse seemed to be nice, although I didn't have a lot of contact with her. Overall, I'd rate him as excellent based solely on my initial visit with him. I would, however, suggest that he get a better scale. Considering that he does this surgery, his scale should have a wider platform and perhaps even a higher weighing capacity.

When i met Dr Rohrer, for the first time, he was so kind, and he exsplained everything..
I feel i made the right desistion with Dr. Rohrer, he is a great doctor.. His office staff is very nice, and soft spoken..
The least thing i like is that his office is so far awy from were i live, in Libby, his office is in Great Falls, so it is a good 6 hour drive to get to his office..
Dr. Rohrer, is so great at after care, he always gets you in promptly, and he cares about all that is going on with you..
Dr. Rohere told me nothing be the trueth about the surgery, he said that there is always a chance that something could go wrong, during or even after surgery..
He exsplaind all that was going to be done, how it would be..
Over all Dr. Rohrer, is a great, caring, devoted doctor..

I'm scheduled for Gastric Bypass surgery wih Dr. Rohrer on March 26, 2001.
I really adore both
Dr. Rohrer and his nurse! They are extremely nice and very thorough.
Dr. Rhorer had done a surgery on my Grandmother a couple of years ago....she was suffering from a blockage in her intestine. We were all thrilled with his excellent care and bedside manner!
I'm very much looking forward to having him do my Gastric Bypass surgery. He was very "up front" with how this surgery is done...the long term effects, possable risks, my new diet...every thing! I find that the good points very much out way the possable bad points!
I totaly look very forward to having this surgery!
I am on Medicare....so I don't need to worry about an aproval....I hope. I'm extremely excited and anxious about having this surgery! I long to be at a normal body weight, so I can be a better mom and wife! Most of all I want to be healthy for "me". I would love to be able to participate in the lives of my family better. Right now I'm basicaly a "recluse"....I go no where unless I absolutely have to. This makes it rough....since my daughter is a cheerleader, and my youngest son is a football player! I suffer from many health problams....worse being the rhumetoid arthritis, fibromyalgia, asthma, I.B.S., acid reflux, thyroid disease, etc.....This surgery will be a miracle for me, my family, and my friends!! I will finally be getting the help that I need to start my life fresh again!

(OPEN RNY 1-22-01) So far I've done everything long distance. I've been impressed with the friendliness of his office asst Lisa.
I sent in my paperwork along with some questions I asked Dr. Rohrer to fax back his thoughts. He phoned me and explained his thoughts, very thoughtful of him. Really looking forward to meeting Dr. Rohrer.

I met Dr. Rohrer and his assistant Lisa on 1-19-01, just 3 days before my surgery. Dr. Rohrer has a dry erase board in the exam room and was able to draw/explain what he would do. He explained the risks involved, I was very impressed.

After the surgery Dr. Rohrer stopped by my room, he is a friendly hand-patting type of person, very genuine.

Lisa, his office asst, is a kind person as well. I put her thru the hoops when I called from the hosp in pain; she handled it well. She's the frosting on Dr. Rohrer's cake :-)

Dr. Rohrer stresses aftercare, but because I live so far away I won't be able to see him monthly like he would prefer. All in all I would rate him as excellent in all aspects.
