Donald Czerniach Bariatric Surgeon M.D.,F.A.C.S.

Dr. Czerniach seemed very nice. My first impression was that he WAS NOT Dr. Kelly !
Once I settled in and started speaking with him I liked him very much. He was down to earth and straight forward. He did have patience with me and let me ask as many questions as I wished. The office staff are nice. I liked everything about him. He is knowledgable and nice. He has been assisting in gastric bypass surgery for a long time. He did this at the George Washington University in Maryland. This was my first visit , so we just discussed the surgery. I do believe he does have a sturctured aftercare program. He explained all the risks of surgery in detail. I would easily rate him as a 10 on a scale of 1 - 10. I would like to think that both surgical competence and bedside manner are ideal, however not every good surgeon has both. I would like to point out that I explicitly state that these were just my personal impressions of my own personal experience and that i am making no statements about what other people may experience.

My first impression of Dr. Czerniach was that he was a bit full of himself. After talking with him for about and hour, I noticed a warm quality with a sense of humor. He is a people person, and I needed that. It just takes some time for him to warm up.
The rest of the staff is pretty good, but they are busy and seem over loaded. One of the coordinators (Gloria) Rocks!! She will answer anything!
In the hosptial I saw the Dr every morning except on my discharge date. He went on vaction and I don't blame him.
In this hospital there are residents and medical students that work mostly with the patients. They are green, which just means they still inquisitive and do have a need to make sure they aren't intruding too much on you or your privacy.
My Doc participates in a program at UMASS Memorial Hospital. The progam takes a year to complete but it is very through.
