On my first visit, Dr. Smith seemed to be very much a surgeon with little expressions and maybe even a little impatient. I wasn't as prepared as I had planned on being,

I just had my second visit and he seemed much more personable, so maybe the last time was just an off day we all have those. I took my husband to this visit as Dr. Smith requested. He is very concerned that you have a good support structure post-op and that your support (husband) knows and understands what is happening and the risks.

His staff has been great, very helpful and pleasant. One thing to know, is fill out your paperwork completely, especially the diet history section. Lisa really got on me for not having that filled out properly.

Since I have not had my surgery yet, I can not comment on that. But he seems very knowledgeable and up front about it.

I had to purchase a 45 dollar video tape and book of information before I could schedule an appt with the surgeon. So I purchased this and scheduled my appt when I did so. They got me in quickly for my first appt. I met with a dr who seemed to be new, he asked me a few questions and he was very nice. Then the Nurse practicioner came in and she was really great. We went over my health history and she asked me of my knowledge of the surgery. Next Dr Smith came in with the first doctor and a student who is interning there. He was very nice. Told me to set up my appt with the dietician and the psychologist and come back to see him in one month.

MY FIRST IMPRESSION OF DR. SMITH IS THAT HE IS A VERY EXPERIENCED DR., KIND, CARING AND I HAVE NO DOUBT I WILL COME THROUGH SURGERY JUST FINE WITH HIM AS MY DR. HIS OFFICE STAFF ARE JUST WONDERFUL. THEY ARE KIND AND WILL ANSWER ANY OF YOUR QUESTIONS. LISA THE ASST. SURGEON WAS A SWEETHEART.FULL OF INFORMATION AND KINDNESS.I JUST LOVED HER.I DIDN'T AHVE ONE THING I DIDN'T LIKE ABOUT DR. SMITH OR HIS STAFF. THEY STRESS AFTERCARE AND DIET ADN EXERCISE.THEY TELL YOU THE RISKS OF SURGERY AND MAKE SURE YOU ARE AWARE OF THEM.I HAVE HAD A CONSULTATION WITH ANOTHER BBARIATRIC SURGEON AND HIS STAFF AND CAN SAY I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND DR. SMITH AND HIS STAFF 100% I WILL GO INTO SURGERY NOT WORRING ABOUT MY CARE AT ALL.

The first time I met anyone in Dr. Smith's office was when I had to drive out to his office to pick up a binder and video, that cost me $45.00. I wasn't real happy to have to pay for it, but it did have a lot of information in it. I called them on 7/1 and was able to get an appt for 7/3. When he comes into the room he gives a brief explanation of his history and why and when he started bariatric surgery. I had already asked his nurse Lisa, who also assist in the surgery all my questions. So I didn't talk to him that long. He gives you a month to do more research and make sure he's the surgeon you want. I was very comfortable with Dr. Smith and more so with Lisa. Dr. Smith has done 27 of the OPEN RYN and has not lost a patient. His profile says he does LAB, but he doesn't. I think Dr. Smith is a good choice for surgery for both surgical competence and bedside manner.

I have met with Dwayne Smith on 4/28/03. He was very patient, kind, and very informative. All of his staff was very nice and helpful. He has a good bedside manner. What I like about him the most was that when I told him I had a blood clot in my leg in 11/02 and I was cocerned with that he already told me how he would help to reduce the risk post op. He is wonderful. I have not got to the aftercare part of the consultation due to not having all of my paperwork together yet. I feel just in the brief time I have seen him that he is very confident and I trust him to do this surgery.

Dr. Smith and his staff are all very friendly, down to earth people. I don't know if it's because he is still relatively new to bariatric surgery or if he just likes to hire laid back people, but his office does not have that rushed, "we have a million patients waiting in line behind you and you are taking up valuable time" atmosphere that some bariatric surgeon's offices have.

I am a month post-op now and I would just like to add that since my surgery, I have really come to like Dr. Smith and his staff a great deal. They are all knowledgeable, approachable, and helpful. You're in good hands here.

My Doctor is Dewayne Smith in Edgewood Ky. At my first visit I felt very confortable talking with him. I felt free to ask him any questions. His staff are really friendly and helpful. They return your calls very promptly. I am glad that I made the decision to have Dr. Smith do my surgery. My date is June 26, 2003 at 12:00. I can't wait. Please keep me in your prayers.

Dr. Smith seems to be one of the most intelligent men I have ever met. He is very comforting to the patient as well as the spouse/significant other. He answered all our questions in a precise manner, and I would reccommend this man to anyone in the Cincinnati area who is looking for a GREAT surgeon.

Dr. Smith is a great doc. He seems to really care about his patients. Very pleasant and respectful. Eager to answer any questions you may have. He spoke with both me and my spouse about the risks of surgery. I am delighted that I have chose him for my surgery. His office staff are very nice and helpful. They return any phone calls promptly. Dr. Smith and his office staff have been great so far. My surgery date is set for May 30th. I will update later. Thanks!

3/24/03 - Had first consult with Dr. Smith. I first met with his nurse, she was awesome. She was easy to talk to and I felt very comfortable with her. Dr. Smith was very personable as well. I feel very good about having him do my surgery. The office staff was great.
4-4-03 - Met with the dietician. She was great as well. I definitely want to continue to see her throughout my journey!
4-7-03 - Had my psych eval. Although there was a problem with the timing of my appointment it worked out well in the end and I was able to get it done. She was very nice and personable.
I also met Skip Rue, the office administator. He was very nice and apologized for the inconvenience I went through with my psych appt. Very professional! I talked to him about getting the insurance to approve me and he doesn't feel there will be a problem.
I feel very comfortable with the entire staff and would recommend them highly!
