Elden Scott Bariatric Surgeon M.D., F.A.C.S.
Dr. Eldon Scott comes across as very jovial. He is easy to talk to, but he is also very straightforward with you. He takes plenty of time to answer your questions and goes into lots of detail about the surgery. He limits his appointments to one visit per week for consults on this surgery. He does not run people through like an assembly line. His office staff, especially his nurse, Carolyn, are easy to get in touch with and always return calls promptly. One thing that bothered me a little is that he doesnt really do any pre-op tests, besides blood tests on the day of surgery....I had to ask for those myself. I dont think that his aftercare program is as structured as it could be (but I'm not there yet, so I dont know for sure.) Overall, I believe he is an extremely competent surgeon and has a good bedside manner. I'll post again after my surgery.
2010 Update - Dr. Scott no longer performs gastric bypass surgery. He says this is due to the insurance premiums. I am sorry to hear this.
dr scott was very helpful he asked me questions and i asked him he even looked up some information for me and he is a great surgeon. i would have it done again in a heartbeat and it would be with him cause he cares and it didnt hurt we are from the same town and my husbands family with to school with him. i never change in my impression of him cause my mother-in -law knows him so well and works are a RN at the same hospital he does and she was there to tell me all about him and i felt like i knew him before we met and meeting him was like we were family. his office was easy to find and the staff was so nice and helped me with anything. ask him anything he will asnwer if he can and he will help u with all ur problems. he will tell u before he does ur surgery if u are not up to the long road of care and changing your lifestyle then he wont do it and he is not being mean just knows u have to or it is not for u. he will give u reports and information on the risk and he even will draw the surgery in detail what he will do so u know what it is he will do. dr scott is a 10 in my book. both was great and important to the care we get after .
Dr. Scott is a very patient friendly surgeon.
His office staff are really nice too
I went back to Dr. Scott in May and then in July and my next visit is in February of 2005.
I would rate Dr. Scott as being a very good surgeon.
Dr. Scotts bedside manner is good his competence is good too.
The only thing was that ne nicked my spleen but noone is perfect.
He is a friendly and very knowledgable man.
Hasn't changed- he has gotten better and better!! His office staff is very friendly and very helpful and they always return telephone calls.
I can't think of anything that I didn't like about him.
Listen to Dr. Scott. He knows what he is talking about.
If Dr. Scott has a weak spot, I would say it would in the area of aftercare. I didn't know what to expect (and I am still learning!). Now Dr. Scott has always answered my questions. Maybe the problem was I didn't know what questions to ask!
Dr. Scott told me all about the surgery - the good, the bad and the ugly.
I would rank Dr. Scott as A+.
Both were great.
Dr. Scott is very caring, understanding, and quite a character. He's a good old Southern guy, and grew up less than 20 miles from me! Very professional staff and easy to get in contact with over the phone. They know their stuff! Carolyn is very helpful and mails me things overnight to help me prepare for surgery! Haven't heard much on aftercare from he or his staff, but then I already know so much from this site. Says he has had nearly 1500 patience and only lost one (due to complications not due to surgery)
DR. Scott was very nice and understanding, very easy to talk to, just like an old southern boy, he likes to hunt and has been hunting in my area lots of times and knows my neigbors! It nice to have a doctor who seems to have a common interest in you and your hometown. He has personal understanding on how hard it is to control weight, that helps to know your doctor understands how hard it is, skinny doctors don't have any sympathy.
His staff was very nice, they did not make me feel the least bit uncomfortable about why I was seeing the doctor.
Dr. Scott explained the surgery to my husband and me (I knew all about it thanks to (AMOS)), but he helped my husband understand this tool can help me for the rest of my life, not like a diet only last while your on it.
