I have been to 2 different doctor's information meetings, and definitely liked Dr. Tenewitzs better. He was very informative and during the question and answer session he was kind enough to repeat the questions so that those in the back could hear. During the meeting Lisa, one of his staff gave a very moving and uplifting speech, I don't think there was a dry eye in the room!!! She is definitely very inspirational, and she was a patient of Dr. Tenewitz before coming to work for him. He also has others staff members that have had the surgery, so they do understand where we are coming from, so to speak.
I have had one visit with Dr. Tenewitz on a one to one basis, he was very nice, answered all questions and made sure that I understood what was involved in the surgery and that it was only a tool.
The staff seemed very nice, and helpful, I have only had dealings so far with John, Roxy, and a little with Margaret. They are very knowledgable on insurance and what is required for submitting for insurance approval, though sometimes I know they must be overwhelmed by it all, they always make sure to keep in touch, and never make you feel you are interrupting them.
I am still in the process of getting all the necessary tests and letters for submission to the insurance company. It is taking longer that I at first expected, have had to have my primary care rewrite her referral letter to include what diets she has supervised over that last 2 years. I should have a new letter by this week, so I am hoping the next step will be to submit to the insurance company and getting approval (wishfull thinking?)
This is my own personal experience so far and I am making so statements about what other peoply may experience.

I was very impressed with Dr. Tenewitz. I feel comfortable with him doing my surgery. His office staff is the best. I have only been to 2 appointments yet feel as if I have known these people for years. I am in the process of playing the waiting game for insurance approval. I am looking forward to attending the pre surgery meeting next week.

He seemed very friendly and kind. He seems very stern in making sure you know that this is just a tool that he give you. I talked to post-ops at the meeting and they all said that they wouldn't change a thing about him. And I can not say enough good things about Lisa (an office staff). She told a story about her life before surgery and my eyes just filled with tears. If she didn't have me crying she had me laughing. She know what we are all going through.

My first impression of Dr. Tenewitz was that he seemed to be a nice man. Over time I found that he was nice, caring and concerned that his patients get the help they need. His office staff is great! He is a very busy man and sometimes unavailable, but his office staff is always there to help when needed. Dr. Tenewitz emphasizes aftercare as being one of the main parts of this change of life. He wants to see you on a regular basis and encourages you to go to support group meetings. His office staff produces a monthly news letter to distribute to the patients. His aftercare is a very structured program. Dr. Tenewitz does explain to you that there are risks with this surgery and this is not a quick fix or a "easy" way out, this is a life change and a tool to assist us in weight loss. This surgery should not be taken lightly. I feel that it is more important to have surgical comptence than bedside manners, but Dr. T seems to be good in both areas.

Dr Tenewitz is a very professional man. He doesn't treat you like a child and let's you know that he is the expert. I was very impressed with him and my surgery. His staff is wonderful and never have you feel any questions are silly ones. I wasn't looking to make a friend I wanted I highly qualified surgeon and I feel I got one. Dr T. has an entire program set up for you and you must follow it or you will not have your desired results. I know I have many follow-up appts scheduled even before I had surgery. He emphasizes that the surgery is just the first step to weight loss and you must attent peer meetings. He let me know up front that this was a surgery and there are many risks involved. I would highly recommend him to my family and friends. It would be a perfect world if we didn't need the skills of a surgeon to correct our problems and a little pat on the hand to let you know it's okay goes a long way!

I had my surgery on 10/08/02. No problems at all. Dr. T and his staff were great and the follow-up has been very professional. One of my sister's had her operation a month later and ran into some complications due to scar tissue. I would still suggest him for a surgeon. The only problem with his staff is in the insurance department. Don't leave it up to follow-up on the approval. After waiting for Dr. T's office to do their job, I called my insurance company and they told me that they had never seen the papers and all that the Dr's office needed to do was to call them....needless to say, I got approved the next day. Other than that..he was great.

I have only met him once at thia time. He was straight forward and to the point about things. His staff was very helpful, nice and patient. Doctor Tenewitzs seems to have it together on teaching and preparing you for this life changing surgery. No games played here. they can't seem to tell you enough about the after care. this is great. They have a seminar that must be attended first before any other steps are taken. his staff greatky encourages you to attend them often, you learn something new at everyone you go to. his surgical competence is fisrt for me, but bedside manner is also important. i will have to let you know at a later date.

My first appointment was as I had hoped, very professional, informative and to the point. He is not a "chatty" person, but thats I okay. His staff is very friendly, warm and make you feel like YOU are the most important person. I was told exactly what I needed to do to get the approval done, I did as was instructed and approved within 5 days. I have plenty of health problems but I was still worried that my insurance (Tricare) would not cover the surgery. But thank goodness they did. I fell like I have been informed on the risks of surgery. I have also gone thru every page on the Obesityhelp.com web site too. I have read just about everthing written there. I have also made a point of meeting several patients to see how they handling their new way of life. My new life begins Jan 6,2003. WHAT A GREAT WAY TO START THE NEW YEAR.

He seemed young.
After meeting weith him, I found him to be very knowledgeable and skilled. He answered all my questions.
The staff are very caring and compassionate.
Aftercare is very very important to him. He says that once you are sa patient, you are a patient for life.
He was very clear about all of the risks.
execellent
competence is more important but help./

I had my first consult with Dr T he was very informative and concerened about his patients well being not just another $5000.00 I was very impressed with his staff they were wonderfull to me and very helpfull i would recomend anyone to them there is a wonderfull program that is very helpfull also seems that surgery is the smallest part of the whole procedure the beggining of a new life they have extensive Retrainining involved of what to eat etc
