Dr. Contreras obtained his medical degree in 1996 at the Universidad Autónoma de Baja California. He began performing laparoscopic surgery in 2002. In 2006 Dr. Contreras was appointed Lap-Band training professor (Workshop) for Grupo laparoscopico de Baja California. For the past three years, Dr. Contreras has specialized in laparoscopic bariatric surgery.
