I WORK IN THE OPERATING ROOM AT FT CAMPBELL.
MY VERY FIRST IMPRESSION OF DR MILLER WAS I
WAS SCARED TO DEATH OF HIM. HE WOULD REALLY
ANGRY SOMETIMES AND HOLLAR AT THE STAFF. I
WAS ABOUT 100lbs OVER WEIGHT. I JUST FELT
UNEASY. BUT AFTER I HAD THE SURGERY HE WAS
HELPFUL WITH MY FAMILY. ONE TIME I HAD A
PROBLEM WITH THE STAFF. I GUESS ON OF THE
LADIES THAT HAD BEEN GOING IN FOR CHECKUPS
WAS GOING TO USE WEIGHTS IN HER POCKETS SO
SHE WOULD MEET THE BMI. SO,WE HAD TO TAKE
OFF OUR SHOES, WARM UP JACKETS AND ANYTHING
WITH BIG POCKETS. I USED TO GET MY FEELINGS
HURT. HE WAS GETTING READY TO GET OUT OF
THE MILITARY, SO HE DIDN'T SAY A WHOLE LOT
ABOUT IT. WHEN IT CAME TO THE RISKS OF THE
SUGERY HE EXPLAINED THAT IT WAS MAJOR, AND
ALL THE PROBLEMS THAT COULD OCCUR FROM THIS
TYPE OF ABDOMINAL SURGERY. OVERALL 1-10
MAYBE 9. SURGICAL COMPETENCE IS BETTER,BUT IT
WOULD BE NICE TO HAVE BEDSIDE MANNER. THESE
ARE MY PERSONAL IMPRESSIONS OF MY OWN EXPERIENCE
AND I AM NOT SAYING ANYTHING ABOUT WHAT OTHER
PEOPLE MAY EXPERIENCE.

I am using Dr. George Miller at Centennial Medical Center in Nashville TN. I went to the seminar that was required on 9-18-01 at Centennial Medical Center and was very impressed with both the facility and the staff presenting this information. I was annoyed at having to attend the seminar at first but I learned alot and felt very at home in the room. It was made for overweight people! The chairs had no arms and were spaced far apart and everyone looked like me! It was great! I felt the seminar presented ALL the facts about this surgery and gave both the good and the bad. Dr. Olsen attended and answered all the questions that were asked and even stayed after to answer another question of mine. This office requires that any surgical candidates attend support group meetings after surgery which just makes sense to me. The staff at the office was fabulous about helping me get my info and my predeterm was approved in less than a week. They didn't complain about the many calls made and always returned my calls promptly. I was especially impressed with Denise at Centennial. She is awesome! So far this has been a positive experience.

Dr. Miller is great! He is so kind and gentle! I just really liked him. He is now at Centennial in Nashville.

Okay, now that I've had surgery, I have more to say about Dr. Miller. I don't know how I could have found a better surgeon for me. He actually has a sense of humor! That is very important to me.

I had open RNY on 9/11 (yes, right before America's tragedy began, I was on the table when it all happened). I went home on 9/14. I had to call Dr. Miller on Saturday because my incision was oozing. He called me back within 5 minutes. I had to call him again on Monday because the ooze of my had changed. Agagin, he called me back within 5 minutes (yes, the surgeon, not his staff). He wanted to see me that morning. Unfortunately I had an infection, and Dr. Miller had to open it up in the office, but he was very nice and kind during the whole thing. Even when I was screaming and begging him to stop. He was wonderful.

He has always been very nice and willing to spend as much time as necessary with me to make sure I understand everything. He is the best! Anyone is lucky to have him as a surgeon!

Dr. Miller is actually working in Nashville TN. His practice there is only about 45 days old. His assistant is fabulous! Very helpful.

Dr. Miller has recently relocated from Ft. Campbell KY to The Institute for the Treatment of Obesity at Centennial Hospital. He was very patient and explained all my questions in detail - using language I could understand. He even drew pictures for me. Probably the thing that impressed me most was the very first question he asked me -- why was I seeking the surgery. He has indicated he would assist my attorney in fighting the insurance company for reimbursement. His assistant in the office is extremely courteous and was as excited for me as I was when we scheduled the date. She's also been a gem to work with. I saw Dr. Miller the 2nd day he was in his office so things seemed a bit unorganized but that didn't leave a negative impression on me. He was very open and forthcoming about his experience, the complications he's encountered and his after care plan. I'm at ease with his surgical competence and anticipate no disappointment with his bedside manner. Overall, A+.
