Dr. Gerardo Carcamo M.D. and his team were very nice they took very good care of me. He's very thorough when I met him for the first time 05/05/09 I said to myself is this the correct doctor because he didn't look like his picture. He said well I'm not doing your surgery tomorrow. I have a liver problem that he just found out about I really never found out why he found out so late in the game but I was greatful that he wanted to do do more test to make sure everything was fine before he did the surgery. He and my doctor consulted with each other and both came to the same conclusion that it was okay to proceed with the surgery. I was very pleased with Dr. Carcamo I already recommend him to two people. I have nothing negative to say about Dr. Carcamo.
Dr. Carcamo was very straight forward. He informed me of all risks involved.He said he would still do the surgery if that is my wish. He spent time with me and was not rushed. Although I am just in the early stages of this journey, I believe I made a great choice in going to the STS @ the NIX.rnrn
I have been so grateful to have Dr. Carcamo as my surgeon. My husband had the lap band one week after I did and he was so great for both procedures. He is extremely detail oriented and very meticulous which made me feel confident in his ability as a surgeon. He wanted to take out my gallbladder first since I'd had longstanding problems with gallstones. He was great with that too.rnrnI highly recommend him!
My first impression of Dr. Carcamo was very positive. At my initial consult he acted as if he had all the time in the world for me, and answered all my questions in detail. He is a very good listener. The office staff is very freindly and was very compassionate when I called with a \"crisis\". Aftercare is greatly emphasized and the monthly support group meetings are fun and informative. This risk of surgery was outlined in detail. I would rate Dr. Carcamo a 10 out of 10. I did extensive research and was very confident in his surgical competence. His bedside manner was as expected. He is the only surgeon I would have chosen in this area. I am so happy I went with Dr. Carcamo for my lap band. Dr. Carcamo is wonderful.
Dr. Carcamo is great. He is easy to talk to and always listens. The staff is always friendly. I would definitely recommend him to anyone that I know.

He's office staff are kind and understanding they get the job done. There was nothing to disslike about him.rnThey should know he is straight foward with you. He emphasize's alot . Yes he has an aftercare program. He tells you the pro's and con's of it. He is an excellent doctor i wouldn't want anyone else. They are both great. My both insurance's took care of my bill's for the doctor. He got paid by both of my insurance's.
Dr. Carcamo is a genuinely admirable Doctor. In the time I got to speak to him, I came to the conclusion that he, beyond question, cares about what I am about to go through. He took his time and explained in detail my procedure and what is expected of me before and aftewards. He answered every single question I had. His staff were some of the nicest ladies anyone could meet. They all have one goal in common and that is to see their patients succeed. And they will do whatever they can to have that come to fruition. Dr. Carcamo has a structured aftercare program and him and his staff emphasized importance on joining his online support group, which works perfectly for me as I am 4 1/2 hrs away from him. I will be seen every month for the first year. Dr. Carcamo addressed the risks of surgery very openly but he, as well as I, believe I am going to have an uneventful surgery. I believe surgical competence and bedside manner are equally important. If I had to rate him, he would be a 10.
I got to hear Dr. Carcamo speak at the seminar I attended and was really impressed that a surgeon would take the time - not just 5 min, but he was there the entire hour - to talk with us. He made me feel good about my decision to have the lapband. And at my first office visit with him, he was so warm and open and answered all my questions, no matter how ridiculous they may have sounded.rnHis office staff has been friendly and very helpful to me.

They are all very considerate of each and every patient's cicumstances.rnrnAftercare is extremely important to Dr. Carcamo as he continues to emphasize to his patients that aftercare is 98% of the success of the individual. He may be tough at times, but his toughness is for the good of the patient to help the patient understand the processes of weight loss and the life changing decision that they have made in order for the weight loss surgery to be successful. There are times that the decisions and suggestions that he has made for the benefit of the patient may not be what the patient expected, anticipated or wanted, but in the long run, the decision (once pondered) turns out to be a good one.rnrnRisks of surgery are explained upfront and in detail. Patient questions are answered fully leaving no second guessing by the patient.rnrnOverall, I could not ask for a better surgeon. His surgical competence and bedside manner are tops! rn
