Dr. Gomez is fabulous. On top of being the chief trauma surgeon at Wishard, he's a great bariatric surgeon. He's genuine and truely cares about his patients! He's got a great team of nurses and dieticians who have got his back on the before and after care of WLS, and without them I would not be where I am today...75 pounds thinner and still losing :)(I'm 3/4 of the way there)
Dr. Gomez is absolutely awesome as well as his staff. He is very kind and considerate and makes sure you are very well educated on your surgery and the life you will have after the surgery. rnrnWhen you go for visits it is like being around old friends and they make you a part of ther family.rnrnDr. Gomez and his staff makes sure that you know what you are getting into with the surgery and what is expected out of you after the surgery. They emphasis the fact that this is for the rest of your life and is only a tool for you to use. They are there any time of day or night to answer your questions and concerns.rnrnThe staff will get after you if you are not eating and following your regimen like you should because your health is very important to them. I had to drive 4 hours for my appointments and have had to sit for a few hours to go through the appointment because they are so busy, but it was very well worth it. I would do the surgery all over again and I would only do it with Dr. Gomez.rnrnAnyone that is in Indiana and looking at having the surgery needs to go to Dr. Gomez website and check him out. He is located at Wishard Hospital in Indianapolis. rnrnI feel that surgical competence is most important but having a wonderful beside manner makes the surgeon a true success.
My first impression of Dr. Gomez was good. I met him at the Key Program and he talked about the types of surgeries and I had several questions and he kindly answered them along with his staff.rnA few days later I had my first consult visit with Dr. Gomez and was uncomfortable with his \"bedside manner.\" However, that quickly dsisipated thanks to his wonderful staff of Jill, Diane, Myrna, and Elicia. Jill gets all the credit for getting my paperwork to the right people at my insurance plan. rnDr. Gomez, was obviously having a bad day that day, because, ever since, he has been so helpful and kind, and has given me lots of support and encouragement during my surgery, hospital stay and some nice comments on my recovery. rnI'm glad Dr. Gomez was my surgeon, he is great and I can't thank him enough fo helping me with this journey.
My first impression of my surgeon was that I think he is the right one for me. I think he is the best in Indiana. his name is Dr. Gomez. My impression got even betterafterwaards. The best in the world very helpful and nice. Nothing.very much.yes a very good aftercare program. He explained every detail about all the risks. I would give him an A+ He saved my life. Both are great.

Dr. Gomez has been great through the hole process. He has always been willing to answer any questions and told us what to expect. The care prior to surgery, during surgery and after surgery has been premo. If I needed another surgery that he would be able to do, I would have complete faith in having him do my surgery. My wife and I both had gastric bypass surgery by him and we have the hightest regards for Dr. Gomez and his staff. They have been very helpful and informative on what we need to do for the next stages.rnrnrnrnrnrnDr, Gomez staff is great, they were very helpful in getting the insurance paperwork together to get the surgery approved and it took almost a year to get the surgery approved by my insurance. Once it got approved they had my surgery scheduled right away. They always are there when we have questions. They return are calls when we leave messages. Dr. Gomez's nurse is great and always willing to answer my questions same ways as the dietician. When I call up there if they do not answer I always know they will get back in touch with me. When my wife had her surgery and I could not be there, do to mine, the staff called me everyday to make sure I was informed and I really thought that went above and beyond there duty.rnrnOur expereince was not negative in anyway with the care we have gotten from Dr. Gomez and his staff. I had my surgery April 04, 2005 and my wife had her surgery May 2005. rnrnI would recomend anyone to have Dr. Gomez perform there surgery.rnrnrnrnrnrnHe has his staff talk to you each time you are there to see if you are having any problems, Very structured aftercarernrnrnrn9rnrnboth are not bad, he is a nice guy
My first impression?I thought he was very knowledgeable & willing to answer all my questions. I also thought he seemed caring & humorous...good bedside manner. rnrnSince then, my impression has changed drastically!! Why? Well, I'll make a LONG story short. I had gallbladder problems prior to surgery & was told he would take it out. He did NOT take it out as promised, and now I not only have to go through another completely avoidable surgery but have had to suffer with more pain & nausea!!rnrnThe staff is pretty nice. However, I've had a VERY hard time getting anyone to answer the phone or return my calls. Considering that I've had surgery, you would think it would be important to them to get back with there patients. I guess not though.rnrnI really don't know how to address the other questions. I think addressed the important stuff.rnrnOverall, I rate him, out of a scale from 1 - 10 w/ 10 be the best... I guess I'll give him a 4. In spite of the gallbladder situation, he did do a good job on my Lap RNY, and my scars are awesome for only being 4 months out!rnrnI think surgical competence is much more important than bedside manner. However, bedside manner is very important too!!
My first impression of Dr. Gomez was that he was very well informed and professional. When I went to the first consult he took time to answer all of my questions. I felt like a person when he spoke to me not like a \"just one more to get out of the way\". If you know what I mean. His staff is exceptional. They all go out of their way to be as helpful as possible.rnrnAfter having surgery I can say that Dr. Gomez is a really caring man. He never seems to be in a hurry like other Drs. He always wants to make sure I understand what is happening. I had to go back to the hospital because of some pain and Dr. Gomez took time out of his very busy schedule to see me not only in the ER but addmited me and went to see me three times in two days. He didn't make light of my pain, he ordered a CT scan, an ultrasound, and bloodwork. I felt safe because of his concern.
