Gerrit Smith Bariatric Surgeon M.D.

Dr. Gerrit Smith has to be the best doctor I have ever had in my life. He is a caring physician who literally saved my life. His bedside manner was so gentle. There is a picture in his office of a surgeon operating on a patient. Behind the surgeon is Jesus guiding his hand. Once I saw that picture, I knew that I was in the right place. When I met with Dr. Smith, he was very concerned about my overall health and immediately put a plan in motion for me to lose weight. After surgery, he showed as much care as he did prior to surgery. I would rate him and his staff as the best in the nation. I will never forget Dr. Gerrit Smith - the man who saved my life!

Dr Gerritt Smith is a talented surgeon with real character. He is human. Over the past months, my impression of him has not changed, only intensified.
His office staff is very caring, helpful, available, and encouraging. They don't seem to recognize a "dumb" question from me.
What I liked least about Dr Smith is the lack of time he seemed to have with me in his office which is a problem in most doctor's offices. If you wish to maximize your visits with Dr. Smith, do some research. Then you can ask intelligent questions and utilize your appointment time well.
After the first post-surgery appointment, Dr. Smith sees me once a month. He and his staff follow a general aftercare program that is modified as needed per individual.
But, the patient needs to input as much effort as the doctor does. Overall, Dr. Smith is a very reliable and competent surgeon. He has a relaxed bedside manner and is honest. I believe and trust in my doctor's skill and in his sincerity. He is a God-fearing man but reacts matter-of-factly about his faith.
