Guilherme Campos Bariatric Surgeon D.O.
Dr. Campos and his team were excellent! I received great care from him and the residents in the Department of Surgery. Dr. Campos is direct and to the point, but also made me feel great about the procedure and my progress. I would recommend Dr. Campos and the UCSF Medical Center to anyone looking to have bariatric surgery.
I have not had my surgery yet, but I have met with Dr. Campos twice and he seems great. While I agree, he isn't too freindly. He and his assistants are very detail orriented, nice and helpful. All questions I asked were answered to my understanding. All phone calls were returned quickly. As a patient there are A LOT of things you need to do in order to have surgery but doen't that just weed out the weak and unsure patients? I saw Dr. Campos for the first time on 8-20-08, got my list of Pre-op tests, went home over the next month had all my tests and consultations done and then went back in to Dr. Campos in the middle of October, my surgery is scheduled for 11-25-08 and I can't wait.
So far I like everything about UCSF. Dr. Campos is very to the point but friendly also. I will let everyone know more when I have my surgery in three weeks.rnrnrnIts five weeks after my surgery and I want to say that Dr. Campos was a great doctor. He is very good at what he does. I would recommend him to anyone.
I met him in an informational seminar at UCSF before my appointment. I thought he was lovely! I've heard how strict he is with pre-op requirements and weight loss, and although he did order tons of tests for me, I've found him pretty easygoing. He didn't require me to lose any weight pre-op and also doesn't have a pre-op diet or bowel prep which I am very grateful for! He has a great bedside manner, I thought...not overly friendly but kind; not condescending but gets to the point and explains everything thoroughly. I'd highly recommend him. Also, his assistant Rekha is wonderful and so helpful with the five million questions I've had for her.
He was very nice during consultation. This is the only time I've met him. The office staff seems very overwhelmed but friendly. He told me the risks and was very matter of fact about it. He didn't try to minimize or skim over the risks. He told me all about a patient who died because he didn't reveal a recent MI to UCSF. It is very important to disclose all situations that have occured since your consult.
Dr. Campos is a straight forward and very business like surgeon. He made clear the pros and cons of the surgery for me. He is a no nonsense person. I know that I am in extremely competent hands with him. Aftercare is a big deal for Dr. Campos and UCSF, they pride themselves on keeping track of their patients over time to make sure they are doing what they need to do to stay healthy.
