I was impressed with the time taken to prepare me for this surgery. I first met the Doctor at a seminar he gave and liked the way he explained everything. All the information I received really helped me along the way. Surgery went well and after care was also excellent. He may not have the warmest touch but he have his moments. My family especially liked Dan the nurse practitioner who also saw to my care. Treatment after surgery was tremendous. So glad I chose Dr. Gomez and his staff for my procedure. I would recommend this clinic because I wasn't looking to make friends for life but for the professionalism and time spent preparing me. Hope the aftercare is as good. But I'm 11 days out and have received good care.

Dr Gomez was the best. I do acknowledge that I'm somewhat biased. lol rnrnFirst impression: compassionate, detail oriented, open dialogue between patient and doctor. rnrnImpression did not change - still hold Dr. Gomez with high regard and appreciate his surgical competence even more.rnrnOffice staff - wonderful! The members of the team over at the UTMB center for weight mgt treat everyone with respect, dignity, and kindness. rnrnCare - before and after surgery - The Center emphasizes a structured aftercare as well as a structured program prior to surgery. They make sure you understand the eating restrictions (portion control as well as the types of foods which will be eliminated and/or gradually introduced into the diet after surgery)rnrnRisks- Surgeon discussed risks associated with the gastric bypass surgery and also the risks of remaining morbidly obese.rnrnRate - 5 stars out of 5. Both beside manner and surgical competence are great.

I met with Dr. Gomez for my surgery consult. He said that with my hypertension and BMI of 46 that I qualify for the surgery. I had already attended a Weight Loss seminar that he hosted several months ago, but he discussed both the Lap and RNY procedures so I would know the differences and the risks of each one. Then he said it was up to me to decide which procedure I wanted. He's straightforward but a bit soft spoken. However, he was thorough and answered every question I had. I never felt rushed. I work in the same hospital and have heard good things about him.

The Center for Weight Management at UTMB Galveston is awesome. Every person I dealt with was great - caring, concerned, etc. Dr. Gomez is an awesome surgeon & I would definitely recommend him. I knew him before the surgery because I work in the Surgery Billing Office. I have to say I prefer to be his patient rather than his coder! LOL He cares very much about his patients & their care. Aftercare is a big thing at the center & the dietitians are great. No negative experiences whatsoever. :)

He's very professional. He's from Chile and has a neat accent. He answered all my questions without any rush. I was quite satisfied with his manner and politeness. The office staff is amazing. I think they all smiled and said good morning to me when I walked in. They did this to all who walked in. Very pleasant and not fake.
