I had went to a seminar in the Summer of 2002 and I had my surgery on 9-23-02 and I am doing great. Dr. Horrilleno and his staff are just great. When I went in for my first visit (9-27-02) after surgery I had lost 19 pounds. I am eating just what they say to eat. Nothing more or less. Dr. Horrilleno was great during my stay at the hospital as well as my post op care. He is number one in my book. He has answered my calls day and night. He is an asset to the medial community. I would recommend him to anyone considering haveing gastric bypass surgery.

The seminar that he teaches give you alot of insight on the surgery.. The only thing negative is the wait preparing your paper work for Insurance approval. Well, where do I begin? This man has brought so much joy into my life. He is the best choice I ever could make for an surgeon. The key to sucess with him as taught in his seminar and the literature is to stick to what they tell you and everything should be okay. There are cases where some do better than the other. But, i was willing to take that chance than be unhealty and face other difficulties. His bedside manner before doing and after my surgery 7/10/02 has been 150%. He and his assistant Leo has always been there when I was uncertain about anything. My incision was neatly done and his after care program have been great. I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS SURGEON TO ALL MY FRIENDS AND WOULD DO IT ALL OVER AGAIN. ANY INPUT NEEDED ON DR H. PLEASE FEEL FREE TO E-MAIL ME.

I have alot of respect for Dr. H, his staff and his overall program!

I knew when I 1st heard about him that he was the surgeon that I wanted. Although, he is not part of any insurance plans, it was really painless working with his staff and getting approval.

Lenora (Leo) is a wonderful nurse! She is educated and knows how to care for and educate the patients.

Debra, too, is an integral part of the process! She keeps things pulled together and will work with the Insurance Providers to make sure that they know how important it is for your surgery to get approved.

With regards to the surgery itself, Dr. H was gentle with my ego, he listened, he was informative about aftercare and even took a few frantic phone calls from me once I was home recuperating!

Both his surgical competence and his bedside manner are superior! I truly feel blessed to have had the opportunity to experience this with Dr. H and his staff. He is my doctor for life and I know that he will be there for me!

This Dr has really messed my life up. He did my surgery then i was in and out of the hosptial 8 times afterwards. I kept thinking it was going to get better but the last time I was in his exact words to me where "I don't know what to do for you Judith". I then found a gasterontoligist in Granbury that was able to help resolve my problems. Since my surgery i have found out he has killed one and messed up at least 6 i know of. I also did research and this surgeon has had at least 5 law suits in civil court agains him. I do not regret having this surgery. I regret not researching my surgeon better. If the surgeon has a year wait there is a reason why it is because they are good. If a surgeon has a short wait be sure to investigate him or her well before going thru with the surgery.

well I finally got approved for the surgery and all of a sudden my surgeon changed insurance providers. I have Cigna HMO and he will no longer accept it. I am at the end of my rope. I called Cigna and they were useless. THey did not want to be biased so they told me to go to the website and look under "general surgeons". I am so depressed. I live in Dallas/FT. Worth metropled and I don't want to change insurance providers and have to go through the approval process again. If anybody has any info please email me at [email protected]

Dr. Horrilleno is very thourgh, and he makes it very clear in his seminar. He makes very sure your safety is number one from day one. His staff is top rate, and Debbie, his office assistant, is relentless, when it comes to dealing with insurance companies. She motivates you every time you talk to her, and really makes you feel important. His head nurse, Leo, is extremely kind hearted, but also extremely competent. She will answer and re-answer ANY question(s)you may have,no matter how many times you may re-ask them. His entire staff is VERY patient, and very kind hearted. I have never once, had ANYONE with his staff be rude or impatient with me, or, any members of my family. They have always called me back when they said they would, and always, in a timely manner. Numerous times, Debbie has gone above and beyond to get things done, when my personal doctor(s), or insurance company have failed to do their job, or to do it in a timely manner. In one instance, I know I called her at least 10 times, in one day, when I was having a hard time getting a single letter faxed from my personal doctor. Even then, she personally called the doctors office and had the problem straightened out. With all the other patients that they also have to deal with at the same time, I truely admire her ability to get the job done, and to get it done right. And throughout the entire process, Dr. Horrilleno's staff treats you like you are number 1.
Dr. Horrilleno explains the risks involved straight up front. He lets you know that this surgery is a major step, that will affect every part of your life. He gives you a very detailed packet, that explains the surgery he offers, as well as, other surgeries that are available elsewhere. It also explains the risks and complications that may occurr, as well as, the benifits that may occurr.
When you have your office visit with Dr. Horrilleno, he again explains in greater detail, what he will be doing to you. He again cover the risks and complications that may occurr. He will tell you out right, that the biggest factor in whether your surgery is successful in helping you loose weight, is YOU. He WILL tell you that you CAN cheat the surgery, and that it is ONLY A TOOL, and NOT A CURE. However, if you are willing to follow his EXACT orders, YOU CAN MAKE THIS SURGERY AND YOUR WEIGHT LOSS, A HUGE SUCCESS.
Dr. Horrilleno will tell you it's a tuff road to travel, but if you are willing to trust in him, and yourself, and willing to follow what he tells you, you can and will be successful.
I would rate Dr. Horrilleno and his staff, an A+++. I haven't had my surgery yet, but from what I have experienced so far, I would also rate Dallas Medical Center an A+++.
For me, I have always believed in a great bedside manner. I feel that your emotional state of mind, is a huge factor in every part of your surgery. When people around you make an effort to be kind and patient, you are much more willing to give 110% back. And one of the main reasons, is because of communication. I think it's vital for you that your Dr. makes you feel that you can tell them anything, and that they will truely listen to you, and do everything possible to make you feel at ease. Dr.s, like everyone else, can successfully do their job, but also be compassionate. Thankfully, Dr. Horrilleno has both, competence, and a great bedside manner.

My first impression of Dr. H. is excellent. His office staff is great. Leo and Deborah are both great! I have received all kinds of info for what to expect and what to do and not do.

He was very knowledgeable, sensitive & patient. He outlined and diagramed everything to my daughter and myself. He went over the risks. We decided to go forward and as soon as the insurance is approved we will go on to the next step. YIPPEE! I am glad to have been approved for Dr Horrileno to do my surgery and happy he will be doing my surgery. Aftercare is highly emphasized for complete success. I would rate them an 9 at this point. I would definately recommend it.

I actually went to Dr. H's seminar back in February of 2002/His seminar was informative, he a question and answer session and he had other weight loss patients to come and speak on thier experiences. One of them being Debra his insurance specialist. In the beginning I hated having to wait to see him. Basically you have to have all your egss in the basket before to get to the "PRIZE" which is Dr. H. In the long run this is better everything is taken care of before you step foot into his office, You know you have reached the end of the maze once you get here. It's the waiting that drives me crazy. Cigna is stressing me out. However I feel good news on the horizon.
Have patience with Dr. H in the long run you will thankful to have everything out of the way before you start on your Journey...
