Dr. Jaime Ricardo Ramos-Kelly was very professional, approachable and courteous. His English and bedside manner were excellent. I had minor swelling after my lapband surgery and no complications whatsoever. He and his staff heavily empasized the importance of total lifestyle change in order for my lapband to be an effective \"tool\" in my weightloss journey. He far surpassed all of my expectations as a doctor and I definitely would give him an A+.

Well I can't say enough nice things about my Surgeon and his staff. First of all let me say when we arrived at the Airport a gentleman met us we were loaded in a Van and taken to the Office, about 20 min drive no problems at all. Next, we met the Surgeon and his staff and they treated us like we were family. Never have I been treated that way before. On the day we arrive I was the only patient and they gave us the royal treatments. I had a consult with Dr. Ramos-Kelly. Had all of my blood work done. Then the ex- Ray. Then I received a facial and my Mom had one as well. It was so relaxing. Next, they bought us lunch. Of course my last meal had to be healthy.... no Mexican food . Then later that night they took us to the hotel. It was nice. The staff of the hotel was very nice and spoke very good English. That evening I met with the cardiologist, for an ekg and consultation. Next morning they picked us up and off to the hospital. The surgery went very well I understand. There are no unkind, bad reports, that I have to say. If you are looking for suburb treatment with a highly skilled surgeon then talk to Dr. Ramos-Kelly. If my mom liked him you can be assured that he is good. PS. I loved that they took my mom out while I was having surgery to keep her mind off of it. Then they brought back the most amazing bouquet of flowers I have ever seen. They were wonderful. By the way Dr. Ramos-Kelly checked on me three to four times a day and his staff was always coming in checking on me. Not to mention when we were taken back to the hotel the last night he found us in the Restaurant, not to make sure I was behaving but just to make sure I was still ok. Great Job Dr. They want something neg...just so this does not sound too good to be true, but I really can't say anything neg at all sorry.

So far I've mostly dealt with his chief patient coordinator, Shannon, and she is absolutely WONDERFUL! She has nothing but positive things to say about Dr. Kelly, as have other patients of his that I've contacted. I feel very secure in choosing him and am really looking forward to meeting him in March. After I am back, I'll give a more thorough account of my impression & experience with him.rnrnAfter meeting with Dr. Kelly for the first time on the 29th I knew I had made an excellent choice in picking him to do my WLS. He is very kind and compassionate and willing to answer any an all questions you have. He did the consult with both me and my DH and took the time to answer my DH questions as well. He has a great bedside manner and is very gentle with you when doing any labs and post-op work - like removing the JP drain from my abdomen. Although the original surgery I had planned (RNY) was later altered to a gastric sleeve, I felt confident that he had my best interests in mind and felt that this procedure would be the best for me. He speaks very good English and does continued education in both the USA and Mexico to keep up his surgical skills, as well as having worked on trauma teams and transplant teams in the past. So I felt that I was in excellent hands when Dr. Kelly performed my WLS. One thing I really love about Dr. Kelly and his staff is that you can call them anytime and they are always willing to speak with you, answer any questions, etc. Most times you are able to speak with Dr. Kelly when you call if he's in the office. They promptly respond to emails. Gabby and Grace in the office are great and I just can't say enough about them all.

My first impression of Dr. Kelly was that he was very approachable. He was extremely easy to talk to and his English was perfect. He was very kind and answered all of my questions completely. I saw him every day of my Mexico trip and he was even there to say goodbye to me when I left for home. His professionalism and bedside manner were great. He always made me feel very comfortable and at ease. He was there to squeeze my hand before my operation and he was there to give me a hug when I awoke in recovery. rnrnHis staff is great. He has an American patient coordinator named Shannon who is totally invaluable. She has a degree in International Studies and speaks perfect Spanish. She helped coordinate my trip and surgery from day 1. She was there with me in Mexico for almost 75% of my stay. If I needed a blanket, she was there for me. She made the experience so great because she was able to help me communicate with the nurses who do not speak English well. She also made me feel like I was never alone in Mexico. rnrnDr. Kelly also has a fantastic medical staff. His cardiologist was wonderful. He spent about an hour with me discussing my blood work and performing the EKG. Everyone was so nice and knowledgable. I cannot say enough good things about his team! They are great and I would recommend them in a heartbeat!rnrnThe only down side is that your aftercare is typically done in the US if you cannot travel back and forth from TJ regularly. My main \"gripe\" would be the nutritionist aspect of the experience. However, Shannon, his patient coordinator, has a lap band and successfully lost all of her excess weight so she is a great resource.

Hello my name is Stephanie Cabrera, I am 22 years old; I have been overweight since I was 13 years old, my weight before I had the Lap Band was of 337 lb and my BMI 56.1; I started my search for a doctor here in Colorado but here in US it’s too expensive to have this kind of surgery; I have one friend who recommended me to look in Mexico since her daughter had the Lap Band down there. I started my search and find Dr. Kelly’s web page, I got in contact with them and they gave me all the explanation that I needed and told me all the benefits and complications of this procedure. I decided to go with them because they answered all my questions plus they are really nice people. I had surgery past March 21, 2005 I have lost over 80 lb, I’m extremely happy and I want to send a huge thank you to Dr. Kelly and his team, they all have been so nice to me. SC

Hello my name is Alma Martinez I am 53 years old I live in Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico.

I had Lap Band surgery past December 3, 2005 with Obesity Busters team in the San Francisco Hospital. I decided to go for bariatric surgery because I have Morbid Obesity since 1986 and all I have tried to lose weight it failed and the Morbid Obesity that I have brought to me some co-morbidities like hypertension, sleep apnea, diabetes II and problems with my spine. Before I had surgery and started the Nutritional Support I weighted 304.2 lb with a BMI of 59.7.

I first met Dr. Kelly and his wife Cecilia Ayala in May, 2005 because I had an appendix surgery with him and I had an infection due to the fat excess in the abdomen, which was taken care immediately and with the proper antibiotics, and I realized that I couldn’t continue like that, and I started to get information about bariatric procedures, the one that got my attention was the Lap Band procedure because is the less invasive. What I most like about Dr. Kelly is that he explained all to me and he told me al the complications that any of this procedures can bring. I believe that Dr. Kelly has extraordinary team. In my case I have nothing bad to say about them. I positively recommend them because they have a pre and post-operatory program. I think that they are 100% competent. My actual weight is 260 lb with a BMI of 51.
I’m very grateful to Dr. Kelly and his team.

Hello, my name is Eleazar Lopez Sandoval, I am 34 years and I live in Tijuana, Mexico.
I’m planning on having Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass with the Obesity Busters team. I first met Dr. Kelly in October, 2005 by personal recommendation. The first impression that I had about Dr. Kelly was very good and grateful because I never thought that I could find people that could help me with my obesity problem, because for many years I’ve tried and failed with all my attempts to lose weight, I have tried everything that is available for losing weight and after all that time I am finally succeeding, the first time that I visited them I weighted around 661.3 lb (300 kg) and my BMI 106.2 and I fall under the Super Obese group. One of the reasons that I decided to go for bariatric surgery it’s because Dr. Kelly and his team gave me an extended explanation of both procedures (Adjustable Gastric Band and Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass) they told me the benefits of this procedures as well as the complications that might arise with either one of this operations and another reason that I am loosing weight is because they are giving me nutritional support that involves behaviour modification techniques and a change in my eating habits.
The impression that I had about the team it’s getting better day by day because they are reliable in the medical side and they treat me without prejudice, the one feeling I got all my life from people at work, school and family as well.
From my view the Obesity Busters team is one of the bests because they explained things that I was not aware of and they made me understand that obesity is a disease that affects every body organ and they explained all the hazards involved and I finally understand what Dr. Kelly tried to explained me on my first visit to his office. That day when he explained to me that obesity is a “metabolic syndrome” and not only a storage of fat tissue with a lot of complications I did not understand a word but slowly I began to do so an now I feel very comfortable and Dr. Kelly’s bedside manners always impressed me and he has made my self steam go up. I want to tell future patients that this team above all cares for patients that need help and they give them the necessary support pre as well as post-operatively and they believe that patient follow-up is of paramount importance. In these days my weight is 533.5 lb (242 kg) with a BMI of 85.7; I haven’t had surgery because before the procedure I have to be prepared and lose some more weight to avoid surgical risks but I am getting closer and if I continue losing weight I will have my surgery by March, 2006. I want to thank the Obesity Busters team and specially Dr. Kelly.
