Dr. Ray is the most amazing, caring, surgeon ever! I highly recommend him. In fact I have told all of my friends and coworkers about him. rnrnFirst Impression: rnDown to earth, made me feel very comfortable and spoke in terms that were easy to understand. rnrnDid the Impression Change Over Time:rnYes, he surpassed my expectations! He not only makes you feel very comfortable, but very safe. I have had other surgeries before, and I have never went into a surgery knowing everything would be okay, I felt so much respect from Dr. Ray and his staff I had no worries and concerns. For those that know me, I worry about everything, so that says something.rnrnWhat did I like least about him: rnThere is nothing I can say I like least about him. He's an amazing surgeon! rnrnWhat you should know: rnIf you want someone that can explain things to you that you'll fully understand, want a caring, compassionate, very knowledgable, trusting, and respectful care from a Surgeon and his staff, then I highly recommend Dr. Ray.rnrnAftercare Program:rnI meet with Dr. Ray and his team every six weeks right now. I live a little over an hour away from his office and the hospital. It's well worth the drive, but I'm fortunate enough that he comes to Terre Haute every six weeks so I can have my fills here. rnrnRisks of Surgery:rnDr. Ray and his team make you sure you understand everything prior to going into surgery. Of course there are risks to all surgeries, but again you'll feel the trust, the comfort, and I hope you too will feel that you are in safe hands. rnrnRate Dr. Ray:rnWell if you can't tell already I think very highly of him. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the best, Dr. Ray is a 20 for sure!!!rnrnDr. Ray is an amazing surgeon his knowledge and his bedside manner is amazing. My family had never met him, and they too felt Dr. Ray was a respectful, knowledgeable, trusting man. They too felt my life would be safe in his hands! Please message me with any questions as I feel Dr. Ray is well worth the drive!! He and his team are amazing and I would do this all over again, my regret not doing it sooner! But things happen for a reason, I feel it was the matter of me finding someone I felt comfortable and safe with...and well that was Dr. Ray. I hope no matter what your experience will be as great as mine! rnrn

I really like Dr. Ray from the first seminar I attended. He was very nice, polite and to the point. His office staff were all very friendly and great to work with. They seemed to know everything that was needed for my application to be sent into the insurance. I didn't have any problems, I was approved after the first try.

Wow! I dont know where to begin...today April 14, was my first consultation. I am so impressed with doctor ray and his staff. I traveled from Illinois to Indiana. The transportation i took was late getting me and i was atleast an hour late and the staff and doctor all still accepted me and i am so grateful. thank you to them. My first impression ...wonderful. I have NEVER had a Doctor that was so genuingly caring. He sat with me and talked to me, described the surgery, told me the good and bad, answered my questions. I have never had a Doctor do that..most of them come in and meet you for five minutes and the staff does the rest..not the case at all. I felt very comfortable and appreciated his honesty and straightforwardness, but appreciated more the fact his manner..he didnt say things harshly, he is understanding and his staff is just wonderful. Every one of them came in and introduced themselves and made me feel comfortable. The Doctor and his staff are more like family than co-workers..they all work together and they all care. I am so comfortable and confident with Dr. Ray and his staff and am proud to have them on my side..Im ready to go forward...thank you

I had my surgery on 9/12/06 and when I came out of recovery I only had pain in my left shoulder. I was told it should go away in about 48hrs that it was probably the air they pumped in. 4hrs after surgery I was up walking and having my clear liquid diet and went home the next day.rnrnUnfortunately on 9/14/06 I developed severe pain in my left shoulder and shortness breath, I called Dr. Ray and he informed me to go to the Emergency Dept and have a scan to make sure I did not develop a blood clot. I did have a blood clot in 2002 so I knew I was at risk and to be honest that was what I feared the most and not the surgery itself.rnrnI was found to have a small clot in my right lung. I am still in the hospital this is Monday 9/18/06 and today I feel about 95% better. The pain in my shoulder is much better and I do now believe it was the air and it finally passed today. Dr. Ray has been very informative and said I am doing great and he always takes time to make my questions are answered to my satisfaction.rnTHANK YOU DR. RAY FOR A CHANCE TO LIVE A FULL LONG HAPPY AND HEALTHY LIFErnGOD BLESSrnDonna

My first impression was that he was open to answering any and all questions I had which was very important to me. I told him up front that I had bad experiences with doctors and he kept that in mind when working with me. I felt very comfortable with him.

My opinion changed over time to be even more positive that he has my health and best interest at heart and is willing to work with me. He has been very encouraging.

With the members of his staff that I have dealt with they are really nice and helpful.

I really haven't had anything negative with the doc or his staff so I have been really satisfied with my treatment and care.

Future patients should know that Dr. Ray and his staff are more than willing to help anyone that helps themselves. They will help in anyway as long as you do your part. They can't do it for you.

The risks of surgery were told to me the first vist by watching an hour long video. Then told to me by the nurse. Dr. Ray repeated the information and asked if I understood and if I had any questions. Then in my nutrition classes it was talked about again. I was also informed in the hospital. I had plenty of chances to back out if I wanted. *lol*

Aftercare is really stressed. Meaning that I am responsible for the majority of my aftercare. I can have the help, support and information but I am the only one that can ultimately take care of myself.

I would rate Dr. Ray as an excellent doctor overall. For me........this is a miracle I can even say that about another doctor! Like I said.... he has treated me well in every area that you look for in a surgeon.

I think both surgical competence and bedside manner are great! He came in to check up on me more than any other surgeon I have ever had did. It was nice to see a smiling face after surgery too. :-)

I love Dr. Ray and his staff!
He and his staff were very courtious although some of the people in the waiting room took it upon themselves to decide I did not need this surgery. (The Nerve)
Dr. Ray was very upfront in letting me know I was a wonderful candidate for the surgery even though I am not as large as most of the people having it done. He thought with my health issues and body structure, the Lap Band would be a perfect choice for me.
I am excited about all of it, even the aftercare, I want to make sure I play by all of the rules that will lead me to being successful in losing the weight and on my way to being healthy and beautiful, no wait, HOT!!!!
The risks of my health killing me at an early age are much greater than the risks of this surgery.
So now I am starting my COMP classes all which will be complete along with my psych eval and exam by the end of April, then I await approval.. Cross your fingers!

Dr. Ray is, hands down, the nicest doctor I have ever met. He took his time with me and made sure that I was comfortable with everything. He wasnt cocky or judgemental at all. I felt comfortable with him. His staff is equally wonderful. They are very kind and did everything they could to expidite my surgery. He is worth the three hour drive. Bedside manner is great and I had a wonderful surgery experience. I believe he has an afercare program but I wont participate because of the distance. He did say that he wants me to see a nutritionist in the event I get in a rut. He wants to see me suceed and will back me all the way.
