I had my gastric bypass surgery on 3/11/2014 . So I am 10 days post op. Im amazed with the positive changes that have already taken place. I am currently down 13 lbs, I'm off my blood pressure, diabetic and gastroparesis meds. Im still recovering and still tire easily. But I am excited about the positive changes that have already happened by making this change. Dr Harris and his team are amazing. I feel he really prepares his patients well before surgery. Im very happy.

Dr. Harris was professional and did an excellent job. His bedside manner is also much better than many surgeons I have had experience with. Meredith Wawner, the PA, is excellent. Very caring and will take as much time with you as needed. She even checked on me post-op in recovery. I hardly had any pain post-op and was up and walking by noon after being moved to my room at 9:00 a.m. After discharge and the first night at home, I didn't need anything stronger than liquid tylenol, despite having been prescribed pain meds. Dr. Harris has a stellar reputation in this area for being the best, and I now understand why. His association with the counselors and nutritionists at the Chrysalis Center provides for support both before and after the procedure, as well. And monthly support group meetings are well run and include timely topics.

Gotta tell you that Dr. Harris is the best! I have been with him since 2008 and he has been wonderful. My first impression of him being impersonal was totally wrong. He is very warm and sincere doctor that wants to help.

I have had issues with my lapband and we are meeting on Nov 4th to decide what course of action to take now. Looking forward to this imput.

My first impression of Dr. Harris is that he was very serious, but was very thorough. He asked the right questions and was to the point. I did not feel that he talked above my head and was very clear. He was a tad bit impersonal, but that is okay. After the first consultation I have not seen Dr. Harris, but his assistant. So far I am very please with his services.

I found Dr. James Harris on OH last year and after reading the patient posts decided I would make an appointment. I was immediately sent a packet with all of the things needed to complete WLS w/him. At my initial appointment he met with me for a good while and said that a was a good candidate and that he needed me to lose 30lbs before surgery. I also attended a seminar by him the very same day, he answered every question patiently. He took care of me every step of the way, he even remove my gall bladder on 2/28/11 due to gall stones. After the surgery he told me that I needed to lose an additional 20lbs so that he could do my RNY. I was dissappointed but he educated me on the need to be as safe as possible when doing my surgery. By 4/11/11, I had lost the weight and my surgery was scheduled for 5/10/11. I lost 60lbs before surgery thanks to Dr. Harris and alot of hard work. My surgery was event free and to my surprise pretty much pain free. He has a great bed side manner and was there to check on me promptly after surgery along w/ the doctors who assisted him in the OR. I went home feeling great and with more info on after care than I could read. and I couldnt have done it w/o the pesronal attention and direction from Dr. harris and his Staff!!!!!!!!! You all ROCK!

I found Dr. James Harris on OH 9/10 and after reading the patient posts decided I would make an appointment. I was immediately sent a packet with all of the things needed to complete WLS w/him. At my initial appointment he met with me for a good while he was very straight forward and after advising me of the risk said that I was a good candidate and that he needed me to lose 30lbs before surgery. I also attended a seminar by him the very same day, he answered every question patiently. He took care of me every step of the way, by 12/10 I had loss the 30lbs I was ready for my surgery date then he had to remove my gall bladder on 2/28/11 due to gall stones. After the surgery he told me that I needed to lose an additional 20lbs so that he could do my RNY. I was dissappointed but he educated me on the need to be as safe as possible when doing my surgery. I think Dr. Harris is great! He is straight and to the point. He really wants you to know what your getting into. He has a meeting with all of his potential patient and answers any questions that you have in a small group setting, which I think is a wonderful idea. His staff is very informative and really want to help you have successful WLS. They make sure you have all the tools necessary to continue on your journey. I know that we can't all expect to be pain free. I am here to tell you the only pain I had was from the air in my chest other than that no incision pain. I would recommend him to my Friends and everyone who will listen.

The only down side is I think with the caseload his office has it may be under staffed. mostly hit or miss when trying to get up with someone about your case to find out information. I have called and not recieved a call back. I tend to like it when I call a doctors office and the assistant or whoever calls back within 2 days. This is not always the case. They are otherwise always plesent to deal with and never ever rude, which is why I kept comming back.

My first impression of him was wow, he is a straight to point man with lots of knowledge on the different procedures. Overtime my impression didn't change about him. The staff was great. I had one minor upset with the surgery coordinator, but all was corrected and fine. He performed my surgery, I had no complications and NO PAIN. I'm truly impressed with him. I would recommend him to anyone who considers this surgery. Dr. Harris really emphasized the aftercare and the program is very structured. Overall I would rate him on a scale of 1 to 10 as a 10. His bedside manner and surgical competence were both great! Thanks Dr. Harris!

This is the 2nd time I've met Dr. Harris. I tried to go through the process several years ago and backed out thinking I could lose the weight on my own (after so many failures). But, he told me at this last consultation after reading my chart that the mental health couselor didn't give me a good psych evaluation the last time anyway. I guess he was saying that they thought I just wasn't mentally prepared for it yet. I like Dr. Harris. He's very knowledgable and answered all my questions even though he really wouldn't elaborate any. He was pretty direct and to the point when I met with him for the initial consultation. His office staff are friendly and helpful. I guess I would have liked Dr. Harris to talk to me more about the specific details of the procedures one on one besides in a group setting. The one on one seemed a little rushed to me even though as I said he answered my questions, just wouldn't elaborate any. I guess that comes later. He definately stressed the importance of aftercare and support groups which are held on a regular basis. I'll let you know is bedside mannor and surgical competence once this is all over. rnI've had my surgery on 8-12-08. It's now been over a year and I've lost 95 lbs. I look and feel so much better, very happy I went through with the surgery. I haven't met with Dr. Harris since before the surgery, only his PA, Meredith Wawner, who is very nice and informative. I'll continue to meet with her for my check-ups.
