My first impression of Dr. Kemmerling was that he seemed kind of rough. But, after my meeting with him, I realized that he is this way because he wants to make sure that this surgery is really something for you. Now, I really like him and I'm glad he was my surgeon. His staff is also very very nice, they are like your friends. The only thing I didn't like is that his office isn't very close to home.

If you plan to go to Dr. Kemmerling, it is a good idea to make sure you know some of the facts and really listen to what he has to say. He will go over any risks and complications with you.

After care if very important, you have to keep your post op appointments!

Another thing that I didn't like so much was the briefness of his visits while I was recovering in the hospital...I guess there wasn't really a need for him to spend all day there, it just seemed kind of rushed.

All in all, he is a great surgeon and I am glad I had surgery.

My first impression of Dr. Kemmerling was that he was a no-nonsense, non joking around type of guy. My impression of him changed when he was talking with my husband about soccer teams and seemed to enjoy the conversation they were having. Dr. Kemmerling also said at one point that lack of protein on the after care diet can cause hair loss. He then stopped, looked over at my bald husband, and jokingly asked if hubby had been on this diet! :D it was very cute and relaxed us a lot. Dr. Kemmerling's office staff was very very courteous and made me feel at home and cared about. I can't think of anything negative to say about Dr. Kemmerling at the moment! I would like other patients to know that Dr. Kemmerling was very throughough when going through my medical history and recommended me seeing several additional doctors prior to the surgery for releases or letters from them based on the information I had put in my health history... (for example, I had admitted to shortness of breath and foot pain, so now I have to see a pulmonologist and a podiatrists). I would consider that a negative thing, but I understand that it's necessary. Their office was adamant about aftercare, they did discuss the risks of surgery, but made it very plain that I have more risks of future health problems by staying obese. I would rate my entire initial consultation as excellent.

Very straightfoward, honest, caring.

I've only seen Dr. Kemmerling once so far for my consult.

His office staff is amazing (nurse Kathy and coordinator Mary).

Yes, they emphasize aftercare. Yes, they have a structured aftercare program.

We watched a slide presentation with the doctor regarding the risks.

Dr. Kemmerling is excellent. I have total faith in him.

Dr. Kemmerling's office has been absolutely wonderful with my patient care, answering my questions and contacting my insurance company to get my surgery approved. Their office has support groups and I went to my first meeting this week. Dr. Kemmerling's staff is very kind and understanding. Everyone knows what they are doing.

I had my initial consultation and then an appointment with a nutritional councelor a week later and the following week we scheduled my surgery for 3 weeks away and I had my pre-op exam.

We went over everything I need to do before surgery, when over what it will be like when I am in the hospital and my after care and follow-ups after I get home.

I met dr kemmerling and his staff today for my initial consult ans was very pleased. after the presentation he gave to me and one other client they sent us to private rooms where the doctor and his staff took the time it needed to make me comfortable and to make sure i was making an informed decision. Now i have to have a psych eval and get my letters of necessity then we can see what the insurance has to say I hope they dont give me to hard of a time because i have health problems that could benifit alot from this surgery. They also made sure that i was knowledgable about how important after are is and that i knew how hard it is going to be. I am very happy with this decision to have Dr K. do my RNY

My first impression was that he was very through and interested in me. I only have continued to like this doctor and his office people. His office staff are great they have helped me alot. He has a cordinator that is wonderful I have asked her so many questions and she always has time for me.
Aftercare is a big part of my care. They want to help my suceed with what I am starting out to do here, there is a structured aftercare program.
All risks are printed in a hand out and talked about with percentages for all the risks.
I would rate him and his team very high.
I think surgical competence is most importand but a bedside manner sure helps. He has had time to answer my questions I never fell rushed.

I had my first appointment with Dr. Kemmerling in Green Bay Wisconsin. I was
very impressed with him, he answered all of my questions and seemed to be a very caring doctor. Also I like the fact that he seems to be extremely cautious.
He said I am a candidate for the surgery and I probably can have it done lap.
I have a few things to do before it can be scheduled though. I had a sleep study done and I do have sleep apnea. So I will have to be fitted with a c-pap machine and have a followup sleep study done. I also have to
have a psych evaluation done, this is required by Dr Kemmerling and BcBs. I am scheduled for that appointment on June 11th in Marquette, Michigan with Dr. Maggie Mcdivot. I'm hoping to have the surgery in a month or 2.

I met Dr. Kemmerling last week. I felt very comfortable with him. He talked very freely and honestly. I really liked that. I had seen a different physician the week before, well, I didn't see the physician, I saw the office staff. I really liked the way that Dr. Kemmerling came and talked with us, not just his staff, but him... It made me feel that I wasn't just another case to him.
His staff was wonderful. They made me feel at ease and comfortable. I am looking forward to having Dr. Kemmerling as my physician
