James Koren Bariatric Surgeon M.D.

Dr. Koren is a wonderful man, full of patience to respond to any questions or concerns you may have before or after your surgery. He was so very highly recommeneded by other floks and colleuges. My first impression of him was that he looked like a very competent doctor then and still is. The office staff is always even really great to deal with also. Future patients should know that Dr. Koren is a wonderful, patient and couteous doctor. Aftercare was always a positive thing and they approached that subject with great care. He told me of all the risks and i would rate him 1,000% capable of being an even greater man as time goes on. His surgical and bedside manner were awesome. So far, until I have my staples removed, I honestly cannot find a single negative thing to say. They were all wonderful and patitient with my during my fight and even helped me fight the insurance company to let me have this procedure.

Dr. Koren was very patient, soft spoken and treated me with respect. He was very thorough in his explanations on the surgery and possible side effects. His practice emphasizes pre and post surgery support and education. Wonderful staff. I would HIGHLY recommend him to anyone considering bariatric surgery.

I met Dr. Koren 3 years ago and again last year. As always, he's kind and explains things. I'm sure he's a fine doctor and I'm looking forward to surgery with him!

I have never met a doctor that I have admired so much right from the first meeting. Dr. Koren is heaven sent. I felt comfortable with him from the first hello. He was very thorugh with explaining every aspect of this life threatening surgery. I was able to understand everything he said because he said it in my words not medical terms I wouldn't understand. He is was very soft spoken and caring. He was willing to answer any and every question. He always said there are no stupid questons. I had to fight with the insurance company for almost 2 years before being approved. Mandy and the office staff were right there the whole time fighting for me and finally getting me approved. I was never scared to have this done mostly due to Dr. Koren and Mandy. Everyone should research their doctors before having something as severe as this done. I had a few friends that had been through this with Dr. Koren and they all praised him. If you are questioning yourself about getting Gastric Bypass or what Dr. to use. I say look no further. You have found the best.rnI have just celebrated my 1st anniversary of having my surgery. I feel as though I have been born again. I live such a different and better life now. I was very lucky from the start. I didn't have any complications. I was 3 days in the hospital and very little pain. I remember most that Mandy and Dr. Koren were in and out of my room many times. They make sure before you go home that you have everything you need to start you on your way to your new life. I can only say to make sure you go to the support groups before the surgery and find out what other people say you should do after surgery so you won't have any problems especially with the proper way to eat. The most important thing is eat slow and chew, chew, chew. It is strange to get used to doing this but you have to do it. I only got sick a couple times and it was because I didn't chew . After a couple of times of that I learned real quick how important this step is. Other than that I have breezed through it all. I am 5'2\" and weighed 290 lbs. when I went in the hospital. Today I weigh 158lbs. I have lost 132lbs. I feel wonderful. I was on 7 medications and I now take none. I was of all meds with the first month. I had high blood pressure, acid reflux, hiatel hernia, borderline diabetic, sleep apnea, depression and now I have none of it. Being able to walk and breath at the same time is unbelievable. I exercise because I want to not because I have to. I was wearing a size 32 and now I wear a size 12. I run into people I haven't seen and they don't know who I am. I have to tell him. It's a little strange but it's also fun. I can go into any store and buy something to wear. I wear jeans not stretch pants and I wear then with a BELT. It still excites me. I could go on and on but you are probably bored by now. I cannot say enough about DR. KOREN He made my dreams come true and I think of him as an ANGEL not a Dr. Thank you Dr. Koren. I Love you for everything. Your expertise in what you do, your kind and gentle nature, you caring of All your patients and for being a wonderful human being.rnI read on this site that no person can be the best in all aspects. That 100% positive reviews are less informative or even suspect. I beg to differ, there are always exceptions to the rule and with Dr. Koren you have found that exception. You can take that to the bank.

Dr. Koren is not only a teriffic surgeon, but also a great person. For a doctor he has a great personallity and a friendly manner. What I guess I mean is that he is not as stuffy as most professionals seem to be. His staff and support people are also all very friendly and outgoing. The support I got was far more than I ever expected and the nurse coordinator (Mandy Nyce) is just that.. NICE. She does a great job with the support groups and the meetings are really informative and fun! The only problem I have with any part of the program is that my work schedual makes it very, very difficult to attend the support group meetings as often as I would like. But other than that I would recommend this team to my closest friends and family. OUTSTANDING!!!

My 1st impression of Dr. Koren was that he was a caring Dr. You could tell by the way he was talking to the group that he really cares about people. His office staff is really nice and Ann is the greastest! After surgery I had a very bad pain in my left incesion and when I called the office he got on the phone and told me what was wrong and how to handle it. I thought that was great cause most Dr.'s would have just had a nurse answer the question. My husband and I both went to the consult and we both felt that he explained everything even the risks very well. I rate him 10. I think he is great in every way!!!!

My first impression of Dr. Koren was that he was a humble man. Now when have you ever put the words \"humble\" and \"surgeon\" together? The nice thing is that my first impression has been confirmed over time. He is humble, gracious, compassionate, patient, and kind. On top of that, he is a first-rate weight-loss surgeon. His experience and track record are superb. I cannot recommend him highly enough. rnHis office staff was instrumental in helping me get insurance approval after an initial denial. Ann processed the paperwork for the appeal, and got the job done. Mandy, the bariatric program coordinator at Easton Hospital, is equally excellent and kind. Lynette, the night shift nurse at Easton, had the surgery herself, and she was simply the best nurse I had while in the hospital. rnI am now 6 weeks post-op, and I have a few problems getting my body adjusted to this new regimen. Dr. Koren and his staff have a good aftercare program, with regular dr's office visits supplemented with two types of support groups, general and post-op only. I have called Mandy and Dr. Koren several times to work through my problems adjusting and both return calls quickly and are eager to help. I think after care could be improved somewhat through supplementing the literature we received, and perhaps through scheduled phone calls with the nutritionist or nurse for the first couple of weeks post-surgery.rnrnWithout a doubt, Dr. Koren excels on both fronts--surgical competence and bedside manner. rnKudos!

DR Koren impressed both my husband and myself as being very knowledgable, caring and thorough in his consultation. He took the time to personally go over everything and answer all our questions. rnWe have attended several support group meetings at which Dr. Koren was present and involved and he always seems truly interested in the education and wellbeing of his patients. I have heard nothing but wonderful things about Dr. Koren & so far I would have to agree!
