Having seen some news programs about hack doctors getting into performing gastric bypass for the money,I could tell from the moment I met him that he's in it for helping his patients, and this impression has only been reinforced with each visit.
His staff could not be better. Now only one week from surgery, I met with Dr. Koren's nurse/coordinator Mandy today and she totally put me at ease with everything. Both are very easy to talk to and take whatever time necessary to listen and answer any questions you might have.
With my sister having gone through the surgery nearly 2 years ago with a well-known, long-established doctor performing the procedure for nearly 20 years, I compared her program with Dr. Koren's. Except for minor differences, Dr. Koren's program is as rigorous as my sister's program was in terms of support both before and after the surgery. Nothing was left unspoken concerning potential complications, risks, etc.
I would definitely rate Dr. Koren and Mandy as a 10 on a scale of 1-10. I feel very comfortable with my decision to undergo this procedure.

I was impressed by his manner, politeness, professionalizem and knowledge. His presentation was complete and precise. He answered questions completely and honestly. I feel that he can make anyone feel at ease. He could not stress enough the importance of aftercare and support meeting. Yes, he has an ongoing aftercare program. All risks of surgury were addressed and explained fully. I have been around alot of Doctors but Dr. Koren is like an angel , he makes you feel very comfortable and relaxed. You can express yourself freely around him. I have not had my surgery yet , but as for now I give him a 10+. Dr Koren staff is professional and friendly.

LOOK NO FURTHER....."THE BEST OF THE BEST", PART OF THE "A" TEAM. Dr. Koren and Mandy are A-#1, Top Shelf, Grade A...do I need to go any further... I started my journey just about a year ago and here I am today, finally, I have a set date.....for reasons beyond our control....months of waiting are finally coming to an end...no more week to week waiting for the phone to ring...It's finally here and I have the best surgeon in town and Im so excited I could just bust...LOL

Dr. Koren is a great Doctor. He is considerate and very helpful. When I went in for my initial visit he was very informative and reassuring. It has been a little over 6 months since my surgery and when ever I have a question I just call hm and he helps me anyway he can. His staff is also very nice and they make you feel right at home.

I was very impressed with Dr. Koren.
When I received a letter from my insurance co. about Dr. Koren not reimbursement till we know more from my other insurance it made me a little skeptical of him.
The nurses are very nice.
I really can't say anything about that.
As far as a surgeon goes he's the best in my book.
He really suggests to do as much as I can to help me through all the difficulties of eating.
Yes, they have support group meetings and have now started a walking program.
All the risks were discussed prior to setting a date for surgery.
I would rate him as a top surgeon, but I can't say I can trust him and his staff on the billing end or it. I guess most of it's my fault because I forgot about my new insurance card, and gave it to them after the surgery.
I believe both are better.

My first impression of him was that he was truly honest and caring, and I still feel that way now. His office staff is wonderful, as well as his cooridinator Mandy Nyce, she is truly wonderful. He addressed the entire surgery process as well as the risks and aftercare, so nothing came as a surprise. On a scale of 1-10 as a rating of Dr, Koren and Mandy, I would give them a 11. They truly helped me change my life, and I feel sorry for other people having this surgery, that don't use Dr, Koren, he is the best!

I first met Dr. Koren in August 2003. He took the time to explain the procedure to me and made me feel very comfortable with my decision. He never talked down to me or made me feel inferior. His staff is also wonderful! Because I am a teacher, I plan on having surgery in June. Dr. Koren's staff have worked with me over the past 8 months. His surgery coordinator,Mandy is just the best! She knows me by name and always reassures me when I have questions. Dr. Koren has a great after care program. He has monthly support group meetings that are very informative. Dr. Koren and his staff have made me feel like I am more than just "another patient." I would highly recommend Dr. Koren to anyone who is considering this surgery.

My first impression about Dr. Koren was that he seemed to know what he was doing and that he probably would have a good bedside manner.
My impression hasn't really changed, although I am getting a better idea of the scope of his intelligence and the great way he treats his patients.
I've been going to the support groups and I don't say much but I observe everything--my parents always say I "don't miss a fart" LOL. Anyway, the way he actually spends time at those meetings talking with people, answering questions, calming nerves etc. is amazing. I've never seen a doctor like him--ever. Most doctors wanna hit and run!
He seems like he will be there for the long haul--and he told me that he does the tummy tuck surgery too. One-stop shopping is cool!
He gave a balanced presentation with everything covered as far as aftercare and risks. I hardly had any questions--and for those who know me--that says alot.
I heard he is called to correct other's errors--that says something about his competence right there. Can't wait to check it out on May 7th. Yeah!!!
The only negative experience I had is that when I started on my journey he was "new on the scene" here in PA and he had to wait forever to get hooked up with local insurances and hospitals. But none of that was his fault--it's our rotten health care system. And I suppose that part of it is that a few months can feel like forever to someone waitng for surgery. Now he's hooked up with two hospitals--rock on!

My first impression was like no other. I have not yet met a Doc with such concern in making sure you are knoledgable in what your are about to decide to do with oput you feeling like another statics he has to deal with. His staff are warm and very welcoming with out making you feel like your out of place. They actualy care. Also Dr. Korens Nurse Mandy is also a great assest to his company she helps with all the steps you need to take to purse this life change and is able to answer any questions about the procedure and the after care and what to expect because she has and is still livivg thru the experience her self. The comfortable level is High and I would recommend him to everybody who wants to have this surgery done. So on scale 1 to 10 he is over the RICTOR: :-)Dr. Koren's surgical competence, bedside manner, are both great cannot choose between the 2. Also Dr. Koren and Mandy stress how much they emphasize on aftercare and the structured aftercare program consist of blood work, exercise, support meetings, physical therapy if neccassary, 1 on 1 if neccassary. Lots of phone support if needed at anytime and he gives you his pager number and he answer his calls not a service which is nice. So he is just great when you meet them in person there body carma is strong you can feel the trueness about them.. Cant help but lovem..
