Joanne DeLeo Bariatric Surgeon M.D., F.A.C.S.
My impression of Dr. DeLeo changed after my surgery. I didn't see her after the surgery at all eventhough my son spoke to her. I was sent home on the 3rd day (Wednesday)with pneumonia. My daughter called her office for an antibiotic and she was out of town. The doctor on call would not give me a prescription because "he didn't know me." That Sunday afternoon I was taken to the hospital by ambulance where I was "out of it" for several months in intensive care. Everything that could go wrong did and finally my family discharged the surgeon and called in another surgeon. I feel he saved my life.
I have now been home from the hospital since September 7 and recovering at long last.
I would say to anyone thinking about having this surgery to pleas choose your surgeon carefully. Once you have the surgery, it could be too late.
By the way, I have now lost 94 pounds but they were hard pounds to lose and I hope no one ever has to go through what I did.
