My first impression of Dr. Alexander was that he was extremely sincere and kind. He made me feel like he was genuinely concerned for me...I was a bit emotional, and he was understanding and encouraging. Since then, my impression has only improved. For example, I stopped by the office to drop off my pre-surgery payment and, while there, I asked the receptionist a question about how they would handle one of my meds in the hospital. She said he would want to talk to me himself to explain and reassure me. In spite of my protestations that I didn't want to bother him, because I was sure he was busy, she put me and my little girl in a room. Within a few minutes, Dr. Alexander came in, sat down, and said, "What questions do you have that I can answer for you, Julie?" The man actually remembered who I was, as well as details about my case that makes it unique. He visited for a good 15 minutes, taking time to reassure both me and my daughter. Prior to selecting Dr. Alexander, I went through seminars with THREE other "top" WLS surgeons in the DFW area, and it always felt like a cattle call--like patients were just numbers and there was nothing personalized about it. I chose Alexander because reviews on this site said he was different, and I have not been disappointed. Aftercare is less structured than with those other doctors, but only because it seems to lend itself more to being personalized and, if desired, more private. I much rather work with his team to determine what's right for me, rather than be required to comply with a generic regimen and schedule that involves a lot of mandatory meetings and trips back and forth, jeopardizing my job and disrupting my family (I'm over an hour away). The groups are there if you want them, but you aren't *forced* to participate if you're not comfortable, and like that level of respect for the patient.

I know Dr. Alexander supposedly has had no major complications in the thousands of these procedures he's done, but I still felt like maybe he glossed over the risks a bit. Maybe it was his attempt to put me at ease. To hear him talk, it's like no big deal, but I know it is. Maybe it was justified confidence. ;-)

FYI -- Any other doctor with whom I've spoken says Alexander is "THE" person to go to, and the only person they'd trust with one of their family members.

Dr. Alexander was wonderful before, during, and after the surgery. In my opinion, he is the best bariatric doctor in Dallas.
His office staff has had a few problems but he has solved those problems over time.

I am 2 years post-op and, due to having a baby, I have not lost all of my weight. Dr. Alexander still sees me and considers me as an active post-op patient until I lose all of the weight I need to lose.

I would give Dr. Alexander a 10 out of 10.

He has both great surgical competence and bedside manner.

Dr Alexander has a wonderful demeanor and seems to have a genuine interest in helping people achieve their goals with weight loss surgery. He was more than willing to answer all my questions and explained most everything without being patronizing. I was denied last year because of exclusions by my employer and he has been very cooperative in working with me and my new insurance. I have been approved by the insurance company and am waiting for his office staff to schedule a surgery date. The only down part I can think of in this entire process has been the office support. There also does not seem to be a structured aftercare program.

He was mean and he called me fat but in a cute way ;)
That he truely cared about my well being.

They were sooooooo slow.

He is very blunt with you and will tell you like it is but you will see by his personality he mean nothing but good. Future patients should be aware that the process is long if they are using insurance and the waiting time before an office visit can be 2-3 hours long. I don't know, I did my own after care program (TAKE YOUR VITAMINS IF YOU PLAN TO HAVE THIS DONE)

He told me the risks of the surgery but I was so anxious to have it done I pretty much ignored them at 19 years old and evidently they did not effect me. I would rate him a 9 just because no one is perfect. Surgical competence is the best, he lives to cut on people and hasn't lost a patient yet

Dr. Alexander is a fantastic guy. I love him more and more each time I visit his office. Not only is he great but his staff is as well.
Dr. Alexander gets right to the point about this proceedure and what you can expect AND WHAT HE EXPECTS OF YOU. He and his staff are happy to answer any questions you have at anytime. They always make me feel like I am his only patient.
I am always encouraged to visit their monthly support groups.I hear they are great and Dr.Alexander is at the meetings if I understood correctly.
I tell everyone about him and his staff. I simply cannot say enough good things about them.
The only negative is the office wait but hey he is a doctor after all and if you are his patient you were holding everyone else up at one time or another too. hahaha

Dr. Alexander is wonderful, he is a very skilled surgeon. He explained all the risks involved with doing a revision. I had my surgery on June 30, 2004. He said it was a very had surgery and it took 3 1/2 hours to repair everything. Im so happy I found him and when I left his office he made me feel like he was a very caring and experienced surgeon. 10 plus for Dr. Alexander

Dr. Alexander came VERY HIGHLY recommended (go to his surgeon's profile). My first impression was positive- although very brief. I had started with another surgeon in Houston, but decided I wanted the procedure done closer to home. His office staff is....passive. I did ALL the work in securing my approval from the ins. co. But I guess that is common from what I read. Besides, it is MY insurance company and they should have to answer to me.
Dr. A is so very sweet and kind. You can tell that he is a tender, caring man. I especially like the fact that he is a "patter"...you know...he pats you as he is talking to you. I would rate Dr. A., himself as a 10 ++++++ ! There are a lot of things I would change about his practice ( and I do know that these issues are being addressed) such as more in-office organizational coordination.
I am so glad that I was lucky enough to have found Dr. A. I would not change that for anything !!! Both surgical competence and bedside manner are EXCELLENT !

Dr. A seems knowledgable and postive. His wait in his office pathetic. BUT...he's servicing patience next door at the hospital, according to his office people...that is encouraging. Tina's great...Ann's great (all though quiet) adn Michelle is as well. I got most of my education from here or from NeWeigh, I was initially going to use Dr. Alanis down there in Houston, opted out, because of the distance. I suggest strongly in getting in contact with NewWeigh if you are near one....AMAZING people, Denise Shumate is an ANGEL! I love her! I have had to really stay on Ann about my claim and getting paperwork over to Cigna...but it'll all be worth it come post op. :-)

I did not choose this Dr., I chose Dr. Alexander. He's an ingenius surgeon, but his after care program stunk at the time. I hear it's WAY better now. I think that aftercare is as important the surgery or the surgeon. His personell in his office changes alot...something causes that, what? I duno. :-) Great surgeon and I can't say enough good things about that...very cute little Greek man. :-)

I Love Dr. Alexander.Every time i see him he has been nothing but kind to me. I hate the distance and the fact that he is only in the office 1 day, but oh well.Every one is so nice but they dont offer much advice after that. You have to know what to ask.Usually they can answer alot but still there should be more advice given.
