Dr. John Balfour is a very kind loving caring and professional man...When he first walks into the examining room he has this great big smile from ear to ear and gives out the warmest "HELLO" that you have ever heard....Dr. Balfour treats you with respect and dignity....That meant a lot to me....His staff is great....There is NOTHING and I do mean NOTHING that I have to say about him....I highly recommend Dr. Balfour to everyone I come in contact with, not only for the gastric by pass but for any other type of surgery that they may have...In fact he is listed as my preferred surgeon with Medic Alert....His after care is great...he follows up with you after surgery very carefully. He is very good about getting back with his patients. Dr. Balfour is very open, up front and honest as well as informative about the surgery....He says that he does the surgery open because the measurements, incisions, and closings all has to be very precise. He went over the risk factors very clearly and honestly...I rate Dr. Balfour extremely high. If there was as scale from 1 to 20 in my book he's a 25 plus. His bedside manner, his professional manner, his love for his patients and his work is something to behold....He is my angel sent from God..Thank you Dr. Balfour for helping me, keep up the great work!

I waited in the waiting room about an hour, I don't know if that is normal or not but it wasn't too bad, but once I got called in I didn't have to wait long. I got a mini-physical, which impressed me, I didn't know he would do that, then we discussed everything. He was very nice. He only does the surgery open, and he explained in no uncertain terms that, that is the only way he would do this surgery. He said that this surgery has to be so precise that you need to be able to see everything and be able to measure everything accuarately. He said he does many surgeries laproscopically and thinks that is a good way to go for some surgeries but NOT this one. This is coming from a surgeon who has been in practice for over 20 years and done over 400 of these surgeries (and hasn't lost a patient). That means a lot to me. I have also been told by other post ops that when he is doing the surgery, before he closes you up he checks all your organs to make sure everything looks good, and because of that he has found some problems in people that would otherwise not have been discovered. That is nice to know too. He is very thorough.

I had a very good impression of Dr. Balfour. Before my appointment with him I had researched the internet about the gastric bypass surgery my internist had recommended and boy did I freak out. Dr. Balfour alleviated my concerns and was quite happy to do so.

I have been through the pre-op interview and everyone involved was great and so supportive.

Now if I can only get to the surgery, I was scheduled last week Friday, but Dr. Balfour had an emergency and it is postponed to this week Friday, Mar 31st.
