6/25/03- I went to see him today, and he was simply great. He did not hesitate to explain any possible complications and was very thorough about going through details of what he is going to do and what is going to happen. His office staff is courteous and helpful, and I had a great experience. I am looking forward to working with them in the future.
Update 6/8/03- Dr Chacko proved to be everything I thought and more. He had a very genuine concern for my well being as a person and not just as my doctor. He was very careful for me to be monitored and very strict on my diet. He wanted to make sure that I did EVERYTHING the way I was supposed to. I go back in 10 days for my staples to come out and I will update again then.
Dr Chacko is a very straight forward dr. First impression was good. He takes his time and never rushes. Makes sure that you know what you are getting into. Makes sure that you are doing it with the complete mind set of COMPLETE complience. He doesnt want to do the surgery and create a disease if malabsorbtion. His staff is top notch. They are all very sweet and wonderful people and eager to help. Rumor is that he is not going to take tricare and that is COMPLETELY FALSE INFO!!!! So if you are tricare, give him a call. His 31 years of experience was extremely impressive to me. He only does open. BUT I would rather have 30 years of a confident dr. than a couple of years of lap experience. I feel very confident that dr. chacko will take great care of me. I cant compliment the staff enough too. I was a very persistant pain to them and they never ever were rude and always tried to accommodate me. The one downside is that the woman that handles the claims only works parttime. In the beginning of the approval it was somewhat chaotic. I was a little unsure of what had to be done...
My first impression was good. He was very easy to talk to. He took his time and did not rush me. He covered all my questions with his information that was volunteered. He even told me about the one patient that had died fron a blood clot. That was one of my questions but I didn't have to ask it.
His office staff was very nice and efficient. The office it self was a little messier then most doctors offices but it is probably cause they pretty busy plus some folks are pack rats. I will say more as I know more.
He did talk a great deal about risks. We did not get into after care program info. yet because it was my first visit. I have to go back next week prior to my surgery. I want all of the doctor qualities but surgical competence is the most important to me. As long as he does a good job and the surgery is successful he and I will be pals.
Dr. Chacko was very upfront & sincere with me. He did not sugar coat the truth and took very particular steps to make sure that I was aware of all of the risks involved in a LAP RNY and to make sure that this was the correct thing for me to do. His staff is absolutely there to help! Cathy has been beyond doubt great about answering my questions as they pop up & arranging all the necessary matters. He greatly emphasizes that this is only a tool and a step in a series of events, this isn't a quick fix or cure.
I am very confident in Dr. Chacko performing my laproscopic surgery. He is very quiet spoken and extremely knowledgeable in this procedure. I feel confident in his ability to perform the proceedure with no difficulty or problems at all. His office staff is great: Maria and Cathy have been the two that I have spoken with the most and have always been very helpful and supportive. The only thing I would like is for Dr. Chacko to be a little more talkative. He did very well in explaining the process and what the criteria was, etc.
