John Payne Bariatric Surgeon M.D.,F.A.C.S.

I love Dr. Payne. He is a wonderful surgeon! He has truely saved my life and is making my goals to weight loss and better health possible. His nurse is the best in followup and just being there when you have questions. I would recommend Dr. Payne for anyone and everyone. He is more like a family member then a Doc. I first had WLS by Dr Zagorski, by no fault of anyone, my lapband had to be removed after a week. Dr. Payne took over my case to see if he could help me out with a VGS and I thank God that he did. I am so happy with my weight loss and the fact that my diabetes and high B.P. are basically gone. Yipee! Thank you so much Dr. Payne, God has dearly blessed you with the ability to save lives.

Dr. John Payne -- Excellent first impression ... very intelligence, helpful, highly experienced man with lots of heart and soul. An excellent communicator who takes whatever time needed to explain risks and answer all questions. My impression only got better with time. Staff terrific. What patients are surprised to learn is that he does not allow surgery to begin until he is present during anaesthetic, so he can caringly hold his patient's hand while they drift off. Aftercare is thorough and thoughtful and personally overseen. I would rate him the best of the best. His dad was also a leading bariatric surgeon in his lifetime. I cannot say enough wonderful things about his professional competence balanced with personal humaness and uncommon kindness.

Dr. Payne Is a very thorough kind compassionate Person. He takes as much time as you need for explanations. His follow up care is very comforting as he makes his rounds daily to see you&talk to you.Even on his day off he had another surgeon come and see me.
Tha staff at Moanalua Hospital was absolutely wonderful.
Dr. Payne and his staff were very helpful
with after care and risks.
Kaiser itself has a very good program for the bariatric patients ,although there are so many people involved I do believe there should be a liazon for questions.
I also feel that the meetings for support are very unorganized and less than informative.
