Hello,
My Dr, is John J. Scarborough. I guess why I picked him to start with was because He was the most reliable in my eyes from the few I called.
I went for my first visit with him about Feb 7th 2005. I attended his January seminar and found him to be a very nice person and he explained everything thoroughly to me.
He has a great bedside mannor (excuse the pun).
I will let you know more as I go through this process.

Very impressed. I first attended Dr. Scarborough's seminar and received lots of good info; his answers regarding how he deals with various issues to prevent the most common complications put me at ease. I believe him to be a very cautious surgeon, taking every precaution to be sure he has no surprises during the surgery and that his patients have less chance of having complications. His staff is very knowledgeable, helpful and caring. They were also very helpful in getting "all my ducks in a row" before submitting everything to the insurance company to minimize possibility of a denial of coverage. Aftercare is stressed, and one of his nurses runs a support group herself. Dr. Scarborough required more medical clearances than my insurance company did, and my PCP was impressed that he is being so thorough. I have been approved for surgery, and expect to have the surgery in a few weeks. Overall rating? Great. Dr. Scarborough has a great bedside manner, and from both my own impressions and my PCP's comments, I believe he is a very competent and cautious surgeon.
I really liked Dr. John Scarborough and his staff. He and his staff were very helpful in helping me get my surgery approved.
Dr. Scarborough was very confident and professional.
He was just like one of us and down to earth.

Dr. Scarborough has a wonder bedside manner and seems to be a kind and caring surgeon. I have met with him twice and hope to have him do my bariatic surgery. I started this endeavor in April 2004 I am hoping to have surgery by October. It is June 27 now and I am in the middle of psycology testing, have finished cardiology test and blood testing. I have an appt with the dietician on Friday of next week. I will finish my psycology testing in two weeks. I am working on getting letters from all my doctors and will complete that very soon. I am just hoping and praying that I get approval very quickly. I know some people have had to wait a long time and if thats what it takes I will also do what ever I have to.
Dr. Scarboroughs staff are as friendly as any I have ever met. They are informative and very helpful. I have called and talked with Pam, ( Dr. Scarboroughs assistant) on several occations I believe his surgical competence and bedside manner to both be great or I would not consider him as my surgeon. I will update after my surgery I am sure I will have more up to date information at that time.
I have not met with him yet. I was sent to him because Dr. Redmond works out of a smaller hospital than Emory Adventist. I got an appointment very quickly. His office staff seemed very nice.
My first impression was he was young, energetic, and knowledgable.
A+ for the office staff very humble people. The office is very much so on point!!! I can always talk with someone or the office will call back promptly!!!(in 15min.)

Dr. Scarborough is professional and a very personable man. I felt very comfortable and totally at ease within the first few minutes of meeting him. He spent a lot of time addressing all of my concerns and answered all of my questions in detail. He was in no rush. He was very thorough in explaining the risks AND the benefits of Lap RNY Gastric Bypass. He was very knowledgeable and has many years of surgery experience. He believes if you are his patient, you are his patient for life, so more or less he said "I would be married to him for life." LOL He made me laugh since my husband was sitting right beside me. Looks like I have two great men to support me through my long journey. So......Dr. Scarborough thinks that I am an ideal candidate for surgery and I am off to do all the preop tests.
