I was originally scheduled to have Dr. Jean Yelle as my surgeon but he was away in Africa. The Clinic in Ottawa called to ask if I would like to reschedule or if I minded having Dr. Mamazza. I did not wan to wait any longer and I had no problem with him as he operated on my friend 3 weeks before me. He is a WONDERFUL man! I met him after my surgery and he was very kind and made me feel really at ease!

I recommend him to anyone who is in the Ottawa area to have him perform your surgery!

I just find it funny that once the surgery is over and you're out and home...you never see the surgeon again for a follow-up. I thought it would have been nice to see him and have a few things explained. The nurse practitioner is great mind you at the Weight Management Clinic, but it still would have been nice.

I give Dr. Mamazza a great review. He did a great job, I had no complications. On the day I was to be discharged at 11 a.m. I told the nurse I didn't feel comfortable going home just yet, I had pretty severe gas pain between my shoulder blades. I tell ya, it wasn't 5 minutes 'til Dr. Mamazza was in my room and checking me out, ordered some tests (which were all fine I knew it was gas pain) and he told me if you don't feel comfortable going home then you don't go home. I ended up going home that evening. The staff at the Trauma Unit are amazing! All in all I had a great experience. Positive experience is what I should say, surgery is never pleasant.

Met Dr. Mamazza for the first time last week..I truly liked him. He was super patient and informative.
The staff at the Weight Mgmt Clinic are super from what I've experienced to date.
My surgery is sometime this summer...depending on the delays etc.
Well, my surgery was July 26th...and I'm doing great. Dr. Mamazza is awesome! He visited me at 'least' once each day I was in the hospital. He was caring and warm each and everytime! His team is great as well.
I would recommend him in a heartbeat.

I met the surgeon about one half hour prior to my surgery - met Dr Yelle with whom i signed my conscent. I found the surgeon to be very personable - at the ottawa hospital both doctors yelle and mamazza will see you post surgery both were attentive and provided me with excellent care. Either surgeon will preform the surgery with the upmost of professionalism. You must be aware of the risk of this surgery no matter the surgeon. Don't expect them to be too friendly. You are not looking for a friend but someone to give you the tool to assist you with saving your life. and you are certainly provided that information at the time of meeting with the surgeon.
The office staff at the Ottawa Campass is overwhelmed. Demands for wls are incredible and with only 2 surgeons and only 4 per week - increased to 6 in july 2010, the stress on staff is significant and they can be short I am told!
The aftercare is provided by the surgerical team and the health care team - you will have many questions and don't be afraid to ask. The best aftercare comes from your peers and the hospital where you had your surgery - ask--ask.
The Ottawa program does have an aftercare program and I have had no complications so I follow the program as suggested in their program information book.
I would recommend my surgeon as well as Dr. Yelle -- post surgury I saw them both very frequently.
