Kelly Clinch Bariatric Surgeon M.D.
I am 7 days out from surgery and at this time I cannot begin to say enough good things about Dr Clinch and his team. The answered all my questions and never made me feel like a failure. I honestly feel like he gave me my life back and my son the Mom he really deserved. Do not hesitate to go to his office for a consult you will not be disappointed!
Dr. Clinch and the staff at Evergreen Surgical Clinic are AMAZING. Evergreen Hospital, in Kirkland, WA, is where my surgery took place. It is an awesome hospital and EVERYONE I came into contact with was positive and supportive about the surgery AND about Dr. Clinch. A few of them, including a couple nurses in his office, have even had the lapband put in by him. It has been so nice to call the clinic and be able to talk to them and get answers to lapband questions because they personally UNDERSTAND.rnrnI did a lot of research on the lapband prior to having my first consultation. Dr. Clinch covered all I had learned, PLUS more. At the consultation he stated that he likes to help steer his patients towards the WLS he feels would be the most beneficial for them (he does both RNY and Lapband). He then went over the pros and cons of both and we discussed which one I was leaning towards. I was very set on the lapband and he was rnpositive about me having it put in over RNY. rnI will say that he is a \"too the point\" guy, but has a caring nature about him. If you are looking for someone to hold your hand and all the fluff...he isn't the surgeon for you. He was honest, didn't beat around the bush, and even said that I was one of the best and worst candidates for the LapBand. Hmm..I am a stay at home mom that runs a daycare. I am in and out all day, cooking food and giving snacks to the kids, my meals consist of grabbing a bite off the tray of leftovers, and I live on coffee.....wonder what he meant by worst?rn rnIn the beginning, the only complaint I had was that he didn't have a \"team\" that would allow me to do a 3 month regime instead of a 6 month primary care physician followed diet and exercise program (for insurance coverage reasons). Now...I am glad he doesn't offer the other. I needed the 6 months to do some soul searching and completely prepare myself for the band. rnrnI would say that one important thing to know about Dr. Clinch is that you do need to feel comfortable asking questions. Like I said, he isn't a hand holder. I went into my first fill a little nervous and had I not asked him what he was going to do, I think he would have just filled me. He does, of course, talk to you and give you answers...he just doesn't walk you through it all unless you ask. BTW...the most important question I asked at my fill was, \"are you already done?\" to which he answered...\"yup!\" Needless to say, he is awesome at fills!!!rnrnThank you Dr. Clinch, Evergreen Surgical Clinic and Evergreen Hospital for changing my life!!!rnrn
I had met with 2 surgeons before Dr.Clinch. I just happened to come across the lapband support group at Evergreen Hospital and I went wanting to get more information. The meeting was one of the best experiences I have ever had! Towards the middle of the meeting this man, who had on a t-shirt running shorts and running shoes walked into the room with sweat soaking the front and back of his shirt. He came in, sat down and was introduced as Doctor Clinch.
Most everyone in the meeting had already met him or had surgery. He talked with me not at me or to me. He kept eye contact and answered every question I had I didn't have to think about who my surgeon was going to be. Dr. Clinch had earned my respect from question one. That was my first impression. From then on it has been a very positive experience.
I will update more as I experience more.
I simply love Dr Clinch, he's a no-nonsense Dr. who tells you matter-of fact how things are. He doesn't sugarcoat anything, that's the kind of person I want on my side. He did wonderful job of explaining the whole procedure and how things were gonna go, his staff is wonderful and very helpfull, it's a team effort all the way.
There are so many things I can say about Dr. Clinch and his nurse Moira, the first thing I would have to say is that they are "Heaven Sent". Dr. Clinch is so very informative and up front when it comes to the information regarding both Lap Band and Gastric Bypass. He talked to me about the pro's and con's of each and told me in his honest opinion which would be better for me. He talked to me about his success rate (which is phenomenal) and he also made me feel comfortable asking any and all questions that came to mind. I remember an appointment I had with him after reading an article about the fatality rates increasing in gastric bypass patients over the last year or so. He understood my concern and went over all the information that was talked about but he also informed me of all the info that was left out of that article. His nurse,Moira, is an angel, when it came down to getting back to me with regards to procedures and paper work she was on top of things. She kept in contact with me through out the entire year that I was going through all of my tests like the sleep study, the pysch exams, the talks with the nutrionist. She was so helpful and supportive, I just want to hug her every time I see her! Even though the insurance company was making it difficult and complicated for us at times, Moira never gave up. The two of them are a perfect team!
I got Dr.Clinch off of the referal line from evergreen so I had no basis for my decision for choosing him. I went to the info night and had a appt with him and I liked that he answered all my questions. He was honest about steps to be taken. He explained the types of surgery he does. I went in wanting a Lap-band but came out going for a Lap RNY. His office staff is great and got back to me promptly for question and insurance stuff. Moira his nurse was so encouraging. My friend had surgery after I told who I was going with and she has no complaints. The only complaint I had was after approval it took three weeks to get in to get a date and then another three to four weeks for the surgery. When you get approval you really want to get the ball going.
When I was researching bariatric surgeons, I found Kelly Clinch and thought to myself..wow a female surgeon. That was what first caught my attention, of course when I further investigated I found he was a he! Then I checked our his credentials and was impressed that he is one of only a few surgeons doing the gastric bypas laproscopically. That is why I first decided to go with him.
He is friendly, but business like which I like about my medical professionals. He didn't mince words and had a protocol in mind. He insisted on a sleep study which I didn't appreciate; however, I was diagnosed with sleep apnea and now use a C-Pap machine. I learned that sleep apnea is a very common disorder among obese people and it can cause a variety of health problems. I never expected to be diagnosed with this so I was impressed with Dr. Clinch once again. The surgery was postponed for two months while I had my sleep study and then started the cpap. That was annoying, but I am glad he wanted the safest outcome.
I am only a few days postop now. I had my surgery on July 27th and I am feeling pretty good. I meet with Dr. Clinch on Thursday for my first post op appointment. I would recommend him if you like the business like approach. If you are looking for a fuzzy, warm, hand holder look else where. He was able to do my surgery laproscopic. I feel very confident I had the best surgeon for me.
My first impression was that he was a no B.S. type of person, and I dig that. Don't get me wrong, he's not abrasive or mean, just honest, professional, and upfront. I was impressed by his ability to explain the procedures in a straight forward manner. After my first private consultation I appreciated his humor and never got the feeling he was rushed. The office staff was great. They're all very helpful both in person and on the phone. The office itself is comfortable, spacious and bright. Moira, the nurse he works with, is very caring and patient. I really can't name one thing I didn't like about Dr. Clinch or the staff. I feel very comfortable having him perform the surgery and with the aftercare programs that are in place.
Dr. Kelly Clinch is an angel. He was extremely patient, very concise and clear in his explanations of the surgery and willing to spend the time to answer all my questions. His nurses and staff are all wonderful, some of which had already been banded. He informed me that this procedure is one of the simplier procedures that he does and that all of his patients to date had not had 1 complication. I felt completely secure in his care and my recovery to date, 2 weeks out, has been without any troubles. I wish for everyone to have this quality of care and expertise. Dr. Clinch is an angel.
