Lawrence Farries Bariatric Surgeon M.D.

I saw Dr. Lawrence Farries for the first time on November 30, 2010. My first impression of him was he is very straightforward, tells you the way things are but very skilled in what he does. I am still going through the process in order to have surgery, and I am determined to prove to him to show him I am serious and will use this tool to the utmost of its potential. Using his pre-surgery diet, I have lost 30 pounds since November 30, and I hope to lose 10 more pounds prior to receiving surgery. Once I have surgery, I will post again my overall impression of Dr. Farries, but for now, I am very happy I was able to get into his program. I know that he cares that I am successful.

My meetings with Dr Farries was always so wonderful. He really cares about his patiants, he is serious that you do your part in getting ready for your operation. I can't say one time that I felt I never received enough information. Plus go on the internet if you want to know more and if in doubt ask questions. I am having my operation for weight loss soon. I can't wait to start my life anew with the great help of Dr.Farries and his nurse Christine. Thank you dear doctor and Christine my journey so far was so exciting. Thank you for what is coming up. You will never meet more quality and kinder people dealing with your life problems.

At first impression Dr. Farries was all business. hes asked many questions about me and told me before the end of the appointment that I was a good candidate for Gastric Bypass surgery. He told me exactly what I had to do and how to do it and if I showed him I was serious, he would proceed. I had my surgery in January of 07 and consequently had horrible post op infection leading to many more surgeries to save my life. Through it all Dr. Farries was there, always there. Always caring, asking me how I felt and making me feel that what I needed was important and making sure that I got whatever possible to make me comfortable during a very difficult time. I knew the risks going in, he had explained them very carefully and honestly but I still have to say that I would do it again. I have to date lost over 170lbs and I am a different person. Dr Farries does this not because he has to, in fact the has to fight to do it. He does it because he cares, he understands the prejudices obese people live with and is willing to help. Don't let the "gruff" manner fool you, underneath lies the heart of a angel.

My first impression of Dr. Farries was that he was on my side and was there to help me finally overcome my obesity. He told me it was not all my fault. Never heard that before in my life!rnHe is very \"gruff\" at times. Don't take it personally. This is what I would say I liked the least about him. He could use some improvement on his bedside manner at times. rnHe has a list of the possible risks of surgery which you are required to read and intial beside each one. He will go over them with you, make sure you ask about anything you do not understand. As for aftercare, you see him about 3 weeks after surgery, then again in a month, then every 3 months after that for the first year I believe. Not sure after that as I am newly post op. A dietitian visits you in the hospital and you can also see them afterwards as needed. They provide you with a lot of info as well.rnOverall I think he is a great surgeon and if you are serious about losing weight and are willing to do whatever it takes to get this surgery, he may be the surgeon for you.rn*** This is just my impression and opinions based on my own personal experience ****
