Lawrence Schrock Bariatric Surgeon M.D.

He is a little quite and sometimes you have to keep asking questions to get the answers out of him. The office staff left a little to be desired. However, I beleive they have gotten rid of the problem child at this time. He does not offer a support group and for that reason I started one in the Spokane area 3 1/2 years ago.
I am very greatful for the surgery and would do it all over again.

Dr. Schrock is a nice guy - very straight forward. He answered all of my questions in a very thorough friendly manner. He's been doing this surgery for almost 15 years so he definately gives the impression that he knows what he's doing. I feel lucky to put my life in his very capable hands. His nurse (did not catch her name - but she's tall, blond and beautiful) was very sweet. Janet, his authorizations gal, went waaaay above and beyond for Kim and I. She stayed at work until almost 8:00 pm the other night getting our paperwork together to send to Aetna. She's the best!!!

Well, I finally met Dr. Schrock, and he is GREAT. I think he is the best. He was very patient, kind and knowledgeable. He walked me though the whole procedure, told me how many tubes I would have hanging out of my body when done, and all of the good stuff that will go along with the surgery. Janet King in his office has be just as wonderful. I really like the sense of comfort in the office. I wasn't treated like just another patient. I was talked to both as a patient and as a person. It was great. I wish I would have started off with Dr. Schrock, so I wouldn't have encounter the bad experience with the other Dr. If you are looking at surgery and live in Spokane, GO TO DR. SCHROCK!!!!!!! He is GREAT!!

01/06/07 After meeting with Dr. Schrock the second time for my pre Op visit I realized what great person he is and that He really enjoys What he does, The idea of being able to give someone a new and better life makes it all worth while for him. When he had to cancel my surgery due to the low potassiun level I think he felt as bad as I did about it. My file stayed on his desk to remind him I needed a new surgery date. I am Scheduled for Tuesday January 8th, 2002.
One on the changes made, when he changed offices was that Cathy no longer worked for him. One of her last duties was to get the doctor to look at potassium test I had faxed up there and schedule me for surgery. Thank you Cathy you are Great. and I hope to see you again some day.
I would rate Dr Schrock a 9 on a scale of 1 to 10, He could smile more before he starts talking about the surgery.
Yes, I was with him for 60 minutes + and the friend I brought along felt the same thing
I haven't gotten to try out his bedside manner yet.
Meeting this really great man more than once gives you some insite in to why he does this surgery. Besides doing it for the money. Of course talking to Cathy helped in that area also She said that she really thought a lot about Him and was sorry to be leaving him.
His office staff is really great. They did tell me that the doctor had a daughter and daughter in-law who were due any time so If you have a November apointment it was subject for change.
He did not seem to be condesending about people with a weight problem.
Yes, his after care will be structed and he sends you home with a 6 page handout with most of the question you might have answered.
Yes he went over that and explained the pro's and cons.
I would rate he an 8 or nine and feel that surgical competence is much better. Although having the doctor explain after surgery what he found is very important.

When I first met him..of course, I was very nervous..the more I listened to him....the better I felt. Finally after years of being overweight, I was going to have help.Dr. Schrock is a very caring man..willing to offer his help to anyone in need. As for his office staff, what a great bunch of nice people..I have nothing negative to say about him.I think highly of him...I also think that his surgical competence and bedside manner are excellent. If I had to do it over again....my choice would be Dr. Schrock

My first impression of Dr. Schrock, was very good and I felt he was very knowledgable. I will update this part later after surgery and see how things go.
Dr. Schrocks nurse, Kathy was excellent, sweet and very excited for me.
I had my pre-op visit with Dr. Schrock and he told me everything he was going to do, He is a very nice, gentle physician.

I met Dr. Lawrence Schrock yesterday 10/10/01. His office staff was very friendly and pleasant. I had my husband come along with me. We both found Dr. Schrock very professional, friendly and took a great deal of time to go over the procedure of how he does the gastric bypass. He did address the risks of surgery and provides information that explains what to do before, during and after the hospitalization. I wanted a doctor with years of experience in dealing with surgery of obese patients and he has over twenty years. I would rate him a 10. I do realize I haven't been with him for the surgery or aftercare yet, but I am confident that I will feel the same afterwards. I will update this again after the surgery.

PRE-OP: I thought he was nice but didn't say much...I have still only met him the one time...one office staff was very rude to me on the phone, another one was and has been very nice and helpful...Dr. Schrock didn't talk to me very much about the surgery, he just gave me a xeroxed thing all about it, said he'd get the ball rolling with insurance and whatnot and that was that. He acted like this is no problem and it's going to happen. To me, it feels like a dream that can't come true, and I need all kinds of reassurances that it really truly is going to happen. He wasn't really emphatic and encouraging in his manner, but his apparent confidence that there is no question as to whether I will get it or not was somewhat reassuring. And that he said he'd work with me financially was cool. Then when my insurance denied me I called to see about making arrangements to pay it myself and this is when I ran into the rude staff member. She said that Dr. Schrock willnot/does not take payments. You either pay for all of it or don't get it. Anyway, obviously she was wrong. I finally talked to another lady there who was vastly different in her treatment of me and of course helped me set up payments and the whole deal (I had to deal separately with the hospital about making payments though) -- It's scheduled for October 2. I will meet the doctor for the 2nd time on the 28th of September.
POST-OP
I have a better opinion of the doctor than I did before the surgery. Well, I think once you have put your life in someone else's hands you are going to look at that person differently. Dr. Schrock is a man of few words. He doesn't say a lot but I feel confident that he really knows what he is doing and he really cares.

I haven't met him yet, and I have read many things about him from other patients, but his office staff was very friendly to me when scheduling my appointment. I will let you know more when I meet him on August 27th.

Well, I met him and I think he is a really nice Doctor. He was just direct, very straight told me what I wanted to know, what I needed to know. His staff was very friendly, like I said all in all I really liked him.

I love DR SCHROCK AND HIS STAFF!!! :-) Thank you to all of them and RONI!! SHE IS GREAT!!!!! I can't wait to be in their capable hands to start my new life.

My Dr's name is Schrock in Spokane. He preforms the gastric bypass. This is the inscision one though. He is very intellegent and is more that patient to answer all of my questions.
I called the Dr. office on the following Tuesday after my appointment and I was very rudely told by the lady at the front desk that they haven't even got the dictation off yet and that they had clients from the previous month that hadn't got there information off yet. I was a little set back by her rudness but I pushed on. On Monday the 1st of October I called again to get the progess of my claim from the Dr's office and I spoke with Ms. friendly again. She said it had been faxed the 28th of September. I asked for the nurses name that was in charge of the claim. After being told not to call my insurance company she gave me the nurses name. I left a message for a nurse at UHC that took over my case because my nurse went on vacation. Tina
