LeGrand P. Belnap Bariatric Surgeon M.D.

Very informed. One of the first to do procedures in Utah. His patients maintain their weight loss at a better rate than other surgeons I have seen in Utah.
He is very busy and does not have much time for followup. His staff is great. I highly recommend him for the surgery!!! If you are the type of person who needs a lot of followup and encouragement, like support groups, he does not have that. He is very thorough in discussing the procedure. He is a very accomplished transplant surgeon and has saved the lives of 2 of my friends with pancreatic cancer. He is so skilled that his aftercare is not much, but his technique seems to be more successful with what I have seen. I highly recommend him for the procedure.
He is so busy and makes others schedules match his - he is a little different, but still an EXCELLENT surgeon.

Well let me tell you... I love Dr. Belnap when I met him for the first time it was great... I will tell you this you may have to WAIT AWHILE TO SEE HIM ( 4hrs for and appt. vistit) But It is ALL WORTH THE WAIT.. Hes so funny when I was in the hospital he would come check on me around 2:30a.m. in the morning... Very concerning DR. and will tell you how is, no beating araound the bush !! ANYONE HAS QUESTIONS ON DR. BELNAP JUST ASK ( I WOULD RATE DR. BELNAP 10+ )

He was a wonderful, caring person. He also did my mom's surgery 4 years ago.
No change, yet.
His staff is wonderful, and always willing to answer all questions.
Nothing, yet.
Future patients should know that he is also a transplant surgeon, and has many years experience
He is very involved for at least 1 year post op
very structured, almost like a new babies shot schedule!
He is up front and to the point with risks
10+
don't know yet! :)

I HAD HEARD ALL KIND OF NEGATIVE THINGS ABOUT DR. BELNAP IN THAT HE HAS NO BED SIDE MANNER. I DID NOT FIND THAT TO BE TRUE !! I WAS VERY IMPRESSED WITH HIS KNOWLEDGE AND COMPASSION FOR HIS PATIENTS AND WHAT HE DOES.
I WAS A LITTLE NERVIOUS BUT AS SOON AS HE STARTED TALKING I CALMED RIGHT DOWN, HE WANTED US TO KNOW AND MORE IMPORTANTLY TO UNDERSTAND THAT WE ARENT OVER WEIGHT BECAUSE WE'RE OVEREATERS SO MUCH AS GENETICS, AND FOR THE FIRST TIME IN MY LIFE SOME ONE WAS TELLING ME WHAT I ALREADY KNEW TO BE TRUE.I EAT LESS THAN MOST AND STILL AM OVER WEIGHT,THE MAN IS SO SMART AND WHEN HE SAID " I DON'T HAVE TO DO THIS, I DO IT FOR AN OUTLET AND BECAUSE I LOVE TO SEE MY PATIENTS HEALTH RESTORE AFTER THEY START LOSING" ALL I COULD THINK WAS I WANT THIS MAN TO DO MY BYPASS. NOW I WAIT FOR THE INSURANCE TO COME THROUGH.

I was a little shocked when I went to my 1st appointment and 5:00p.m. and there were 8 other people there to see him. I got out of my appointment at 8:15p.m., and he still had 6 more people to see. It was worth it, just take something to read or do and something to drink.
I found his staff really nice and caring. They joked with me and put me at ease right away.
Dr. Belnap layed it all out for me. I felt good about him doing the surgery by the time my appointment was over. At first he came across like he wasn't there. Like he was off thinking about something else. But I was prepared for that. A patient in the waiting room told me he was like that. He was very nice and heard what I was trying to say. I had planned on checking out several Dr.'s and then making a comittment for the surgery with whomever I liked the best; but like I said, I felt really good about Dr. Belnap and felt I wasn't being sold a bag of goods.
