Dr. Hawver is a caring surgeon. She helps patients feel at ease. She helps them work to achieve their goals. She emphasizes that bariatric surgery is a life long change to your lifestyle. (It is a lot of hard work!) She helps you with the tools needed to succeed. I had a great experience with Dr. Hawver, her office and Mercy hospital. I had my surgery about a year ago and have reached my health goals. I would recommend Dr. Hawver to my friends and family.

I chose this surgeon based on location, she was the closest to the rural Missouri town where I lived, BIG MISTAKE!! In hindsight I wished I would have driven the extra hour into St Louis. She claims to be very conservative, yet she missed the fact that I had been taking fish oil for high cholesterol and she didn't require me to stop this supplement, I ended up bleeding so badly on the table that I required a blood transfusion. I later discovered that fish oil can cause this, she said I had a blood clotting disorder and was unwilling to think of any other explanation. I've had tons of other surgeries and NEVER had any complications like I had with her, coincidence? I think not! I think it speaks to her level of ability. I was sleeved on 2/3/14 and as of today 3/15/16 I'm pursing a revision with a different more competent surgeon because I've only lost a total of 62 lbs AND I have severe acid reflux. My new surgeon thinks my sleeve was done to large based on what I can eat and the amount of weight I've lost. Again, speaks to Dr. Hawver's lack of ability in my opinion. While I was in Missouri and working with Hawver's program I had a nasty run in with her program manager, it was so bad that I ended up switching bariatric programs to St Alexius New Start Dr. Richardson, whom I wished would have done my original surgery. He was aware of Dr. Hawver's reputation for being a "conservative" surgeon, which is fine if you are looking for a half assed job, I was not and am now finding myself in a revision situation I was NOT ever intending to be in....I would NEVER recommend this doctor to ANYONE

Dr. Lisa Martin Hawver has been an excellent doctor. She was amazing during and after surgery. rnrnShe visited with me just before surgery, came to see me several times after surgery and was very on top of my complications (kinked bowel..nothing major). She was calm and helped calm me for my second surgery.rnrnDuring the last 3 months, she has been very personable during appts. I had to cancel one for sick kids and she called me at home on a weekend to ensure that I was ok.rnrnI 100% trust her and all of her staff. I am very happy with my choice in surgeon!
