Mark Malangoni Bariatric Surgeon M.D.
Dr Malangoni seems to be very professional and seems to want to help me. I have only met with him once, but it was a productive meeting. His Admin assistant is Angie and she is great. The only concern I have so far is that the hospital itself Metro-health Center in Cleveland leaves alot to be desired. The Hospital seems run down and I am alittle concerned about it's location. Dr Malangoni and his staff are very emphatic concerning the importance of aftercare. The hospital is in the process of putting together a group therapy to meet weekly. Dr Malangoni discussed the risk that come with this surgery, he also discussed an alternate surgery where it is less evasive, using laproscopy to limit the scarring.
First impression? Wonderful! He seems well educated and knowledgable about the procedure...the RNY. He was frank, open and direct in his comments and explanations. I really like him. I had the surgery on June 21, 2004. The only problem I had was they did not have my pain button on me as soon as I came out of surgery. I was in a lot of pain. I don't blame Dr. Malangoni but if anyone is going in for this surgery make sure they have the pain button before you even go in the operating room! I didn't get my button for at least 4-5 hours. I had to depend on a male nurse hearing me crying out that I was in pain and needed a shot then I had to wait until he was ready to give it to me!!!!
