Matthew Clayton Bariatric Surgeon M.D.

Dr Clayton was kind, but I found out later that he "fibbed" about my height and weight to get me approved for surgery. I have also been nothing but sick for 9 years and just recently found out he left a portion of my gallbladder in which has recently developed stones. My suggestion dont ever have a general surgeon do your surgery, stick to a specialist

I liked Dr. Clayton IMMEDIATELY!!! My husband (at the time he was my fiance') and I both met with Dr. Clayton the first time and we both knew he was the surgeon for me. I could tell that he knew what he was talking about, was confident (but not cocky) about his surgery skills, and had a great bedside manner. He never made me feel like I was "just another patient," and he never made me feel like he didn't have time for me. Dr. Clayton very much told me about the risks of this surgery. He told me what I could expect after surgery and reminded me that my follow up check ups (with him AND with the dietician) were VERY important. Dr. Clayton took GREAT care of me when I got an infection in my incision about a week after getting out of the hospital. As soon as he found out what was going on, he met me at the ER. That was really important to me. I would HIGHLY recommend Dr. Clayton to ANYONE considering this surgery. You are in incredible hands!!! Since he's a general surgeon, I'll go to him in the future should I need any other type of surgery:)PS...Dr. Clayton's assistant (Ann) is equally as wonderful. She's very organized, on top of things, and gets back to you as soon as she can. That was really important to me.

I met Dr. Clayton at his informational meeting on Aug 28. I was very impressed when I see this guy setting up the projector and getting everything ready for this meeting, I figured it was one of the help, well it was Dr. Clayton himself. He was very down to earth Doctor. I may have to find a scissors for his little pony tail in back of his head. LOL But I figure if he has good hands I don't care how long his hair is. I met with him in his clinic on Oct. 9th and we set the date for Nov.12. I don't know much about his aftercare until after my surgery, I will post then. His office staff seams really nice though I have only met one girl(Ann) the time I was at the clinic.

2/27/02> Dr. Matthew Clayton seems to be a wonderful doctor. Laid back, up-front, and a human being!! I'm getting excited now!
2/7/02> I am planning to switch doctors. For many reasons. This new doctor is a Dr. Matthew Clayton out of River Falls, Wisconsin...will update more when I meet with him on 2/27
My impression in 1996 was that Dr. Rupp is very formal and knows what he is doing. He answered all questions. I have yet to see him again at this point. Luckily, Joyce, his nurse, still had my old paperwork on file so I didn't have to fill everything out all over again! She is a godsend!
11/29/01> Brought my husband to the orientation last night (didn't go for me, I didn't learn anything new)...I was impressed. Dr. Rupp seems to have changed some in the last few years, seems to be more personable and have a sense of humor. Joyce is as wonderful as ever and sure knows her business!
I do not have much nice to say about Rupp's recommended psychologist. Not much at all.
