I liked him from the beginning....I was originally scheduled 2 years prior but backe dout weeks before my time....when I went back to him the second time he was very pleasant...informative......only thing I wish is there would have been more aftercare...especially when it came to support

He is so kind and gentle. He is very compassionate about weight issues and encouraged questions!
I felt instanty comfortable with him. My first appointment I met with him, the dietitican and a nurse who explained the procedure. Everyone on his staff is amazing.

Dr. Grace is a renowned surgeon. He is the only one in Ontario to perform surgery on patients 700lbs and over. Unfortunately, London Health Sciences Centre is cancelling the WLS program. Dr. Grace is fighting the hospital's decicion and I wrote the hospital letters to support the WLS program. It is rumoured that Dr. Grace will retire if the WLS program is cancelled, this will be a great loss to the hospital. Dr. Grace and his team are simply amazing and i am really thankful to be under his care!

MY FIRST IMPRESSION OF DR. GRACE WAS NEGATIVE. I MET HIM FIRST IN 1996 BECAUSE MY FAMILY DOCTOR THOUGHT I SHOULD HAVE THE SURGERY. MY FAMILY DOCTOR DID NOT TELL ME ANYTHING ABOUT WHY I WAS GOING TO SEE DR.GRACE. SO WHEN I GOT THERE I WAS ANGRY ABOUT BEING UNINFORMED. SO NEEDLESS TO SAY I FELT TENSE, AND DID NOT PROCEED ANY FURTHER.
MY SECOND MEETING WAS IN 1999. WHEN I REALIZED THAT ALL OTHER DIETS WHERE NOT WORKING FOR ME. NOW AFTER MEETING WITH DR.GRACE MULTPLE TIMES I AM VERY COMFORTABLE WITH HIM. DR. GRACE IS VERY PROFESSIONAL AND STRAIGHT FORWARD. HIS STAFF ARE VERY FREINDLY,HELPFUL AND INFORMATIVE.
DR. GRACE WAS KIND OF INTIMADATING TO ME. I WOULD NOT DISCRIBLE HIM AS BEING FRIENDLY, HE IS SEEMS STERN AND SO WHAT UNAPPROACHABLE AT FIRST. AS I MET WITH HIM MORE AND REASEARCHED MORE ABOUT THE PROCEDURE, I WAS ABLE TO ASK HIM SOME INTELLIGAENT QUESTION, WHICH I THINK IMPRESSED HIM. HE IS DEFINITELY NOT A DOCTOR WHO WOULD DO A PROCEDURE ON JUST ANYONE. HE MAKES SURE YOU KNOW ALL THE PROS AND CONS AND GIVES YOU PENTY OF TIME TO THINK IT THROUGH.

I like Dr. Grace alot...
He is very direct, blunt & to the point...
I admire that about him....I wanted someone to be honest & upfront with me
when I asked a question I got an answer whether it was what I wanted to hear
or not.

His secretary is the only one of his staff that I have
met so far. She is very understanding & very accomodating.

After care is very important to him. He stresses that you
must see him faithfully before & after surgery. He also gives you
a list of previous patients to talk to. Which has helped me immensley !!!
He also stresses family support is important.

Yes, I was fully informed of the surgery risks and had tried to explain them to my
husband, but actually hearing them from the doctor helped him understand.
But, Dr. Grace was so good about answering all of our questions
and helping my husband understand what was going to happen.

Overall I like him he has a serious side & a funny side.
I have had 4 meetings with him thus far...I feel that it is important
to connect with the doctor, and feel at ease afterall this is a person that will be
preforming major surgery on you. If you like the doctor I think that helps.

I finaly got to meet Dr Grace. His name suits him. I was in his office for 2 hours talking with the dietician, nurse, secretary, and of course, Dr. Grace. He seems to be a wonderful man and very simpathetic to the plight of the Morbidly Obese. He made a point of telling me that it was the Hospital who was canceling the wls program and not him. He even said he would not be retireing if they change their minds. For a skinny (and I do mean SKINNY) man, he certainly seems to understand us!! Looks good for me!

I HAVE A NEW SURGEON!!!!!!!!! FINALY!!!
I got a letter from him today saying that he will accecpt me as a patient. Normally he only accepts patients over 500 lbs but he also accepts patients 400+ 2 co-morbidities. He sent me 185 questions to fill out before I go, and has also set up an appt with the dietition for the same day. Can't wait till June 19,2002 to meet the man. He's got a great Secretary too. I think I must have driven her nuts but she was always polite to me.

Dr Ayers has the personality of a Rock!!! I had heard many comments about this and was waiting till I met him myself to make a conclusion. He was totaly unfeeling in his dealing with me. He basicly said "your too fat for the operating table good bye". No coversation, no suggestions, no nothing. So now Im looking for a new surgeon. Starting all over again.

His Secretary Maureen was very sweet and an up beat person.

These are my own personal impressions of my own experience with Dr Ayers. I am making no statement about what others may or may not have experienced with him.

Doctor Micheal Grace of London University Hospital, (London, Ontario, Canada) was recommended to me by a specialist. Right away I began to research Dr. Grace and this surgery. I found, not only was he highly respected North American wide, but moreover he was the leading researcher for weight loss surgery in Ontario. Dr. Graces office at the Hospital informed my specialist that he was close to retirement and would not be taking any other patients since he requires long term follow-ups.I then searched for other surgeons who where that experienced and well respected. Needless to say noone matched his expertise and dedication to morbid obesity. I wrote him a letter, sent pictures and basically pleaded my case. My relentless determination got me into his office. Since it is a teaching Hospital, busy and hectic can not begin to explain this place. But once I found the right floor,I was relaxed and welcomed with a smile. First I was screened by Dr. Graces nutritionist who was very thural and informative. I asked many question and she was patient and caring. Then I meet Dr. Grace. :) After reading so much about him, I had larger than life vision of Dr. Grace. He was VERY honest, with a calming voice.
