Dr. Iwanicki was actually the assist for my surgery. My primary surgeon is no longer doing the surgery. I met Dr. Iwanicki on my first postop day. He sat with me and answered all my questions. I was impressed. He explained his expectations and asked if there was anything else he could do for me. I am a nurse, and found him to be professional and informative. I was most pleased with his staff. They came thru with answers to all my questions. They have returned calls when I left messages. rnI was so impressed and happy with my results that I began to be a patient representative with him as he did his seminars for potential pts. I feel I was well informed and would recommend him to others. The quality of care was exceptional and compassionate.rnrn

I think that Dr. Iwanicki is one of the most caring wonderful people I have ever met. My first impression? I liked him and felt comfortable with him instantly. And, he has a sense of humor to boot! Each time I've met him since he has been extremely supportive and made me feel like I've accomplished so much by taking this step to improve my health and my way of life. I have no complaints about him whatsoever. I would rate him an excellent choice for anyone considering bariatric surgery.

Love Him! When I went for my first appointment I have to say I was very impressed with the entire staff at the Wish Center. Everybody was very knowledgable and courtious. Definately recommend! Dr. Iwanicki was very nice, very professional and took his time with me and answered any questions I had. He made me very comfortable with knowing he is doing my surgery.

After many months of working with Suburban Surgical Care Specialists In Illinois Dr. Peter Rantis and 23 hours before surgery, He decided he did not want to do surgery. I guess being a Medicare patient and having a couple minor complications Hiatal hernia, and gallstones was to much for him.He had his assistant call me PJ did not even have the courtesy to call me HIMSELF.
I guess he did me a favor. I found a wonderful surgeon with THE WISH CENTER. Dr. Michael Iwanicki. Anyone who is thinking of wls surgery should check this group out. I learned so much about the surgery and they really focused on getting my body and mind prepared for this life changing event.
Of course it is very important to chose a surgeon by their skills but it is just as important to chose one the cares about your well being.
THE WISH CENTER is a 10 +++++++++++.
THANK YOU DR. IWANICKI AND YOUR STAFF

My first impression of Dr. Iwanicki was that he is a quiet and listening doctor.
As time went on i learned that in addition to all of that, he was also a trauma surgeon and very willing to answer any questions i had without making me feel badly about asking all i did.
His office staff, (or those of the Wish Center) were knowledgeable. I didn't receive a check up call a couple of weeks after my initial appt, as i thought i would. If you have any questions, do not wait for them to call you, call them to make sure you are on track with your journalling. They can and will postpone or cancel your surgery if you are not doing them or not doing them properly. Take the initiative! They are very willing to answer questions when you call.
Yes, they do have an aftercare program and it was thoroughly laid out and the appointments i was to attend were also laid out.
The Doc addressed risks of surgery in a very clear way and in very understandable terms.
I would highly rate Dr. Iwanicki without reservation.
I would rate surgical competence and then bedside manner. When you are being opened up, it is more important to know who is going to be inside of you absolutely knows what he is doing.

My first impression of Dr. Iwanicki was that he was very informational, and kind. My impression has not changed over time, his bedside manner to myself & my family during my surgery was tremendous, and his surgical competence was great. They have a great aftercare program. They were very informative on the surgery itself & the risks of the surgery. I would recommend anyone to go to him.

He was great! Very down to earth, warmhearted, seemed to really care about how I was feeling. No pressure, whatever I want to do, he will be there when I am ready!

It hasn't.

The staff was phenomenal. There was so much to digest in one day, but they took their time and made sure I understood everything they had to say and made sure I had no questions. They continuously said that they were all available by e-mail if I needed them - for any reason.

There really was nothing.

Just to relax and know they are making the right decision. He is not curt or short with you - seemed to be very compassionate.

From what I got out of him, he is a stickler for follow ups. Expect the best from you.

Yes - 3 months, 6 months, 1 year and 3 years and of course any time you need to see him, you are not to hesitate in calling.

Didn't really get into that much - said he would go into more detail at my pre-op. However he said that if I were to continue on my weight trail gain, that all of the things that happen to overweight obese folks could and probably would happen to me - diabetes, high blood pressure, heart problems etc (of which I have none now).

I rate him a 10.

Surgical competence with a smidging of bedside manner - I really think he will be great during and after surgery.

Dr Iwanicki was great! I appreciated his honesty with me and my husband. He did not sugar coat anything. He laid out the facts and handled our questions with poise. The risk of surgery was addressed head on.

I was able to tease him the morning of surgery and he played along. He has a pleasant bedside manner.

There was a large emphasis placed on before care and after care! After being through the experience, I completely understand. If the program you are considering does have this...run and find someone else!

I had my first consultation with the Wish Center Aug 13, 2003. As many have said before, their program is very comprensive and it shows in thier success rate, to throw out a few numbers...the natial average weight loss is 50-65% of excess body weight, TWC's is 70%. Even more impressive...the national average mortality rate is 1 in 200, TWC's is 1 in 700.

My first impression of Dr. Iwanicki was that he is very upbeat and personable. He welcomed any and all questions I had and was very accomodating. I asked to see some scars to get an idea of what I was in for. They didn't have any pictures so he rounded up office personel who happily shared their stories with me. I was impressed with the staff throughout my long appointment. They were much more personable than many other doctor's staff that I have encountered, for example: at one point during my appointment I was waiting for my consultation with the surgeon and a women looked in on me and offered me something to drink.

The entire staff was very thurough explaining the diet and exercise that was expected of me before and after surgery. Each person took thier time with me and answered all my questions.

I was a little taken back by the deposit that was requested. On my next visit, when my insurance is approved I need a $3000 deposit for lap or a $2000 deposit for open. But no money was required on the first visit.

I feel confidant I could not have chosen a better or more comprensive program than the The Wish Center.
