Very honest. Very gracious. This man stepped up when the other surgeon was called away for my consult and did my consult. I Thank You. Then when I was fired from my job and my insurance was going to run out at the end of the month this man again stepped up and worked me into his surgery schedule. I pray to GOD many blessings for the compassion and understanding of this man. I know my thanks is really inadequate compared to his gift to me of the chance at a new life by working in my surgery. I thank you with all my heart Dr Canady. GOD BLESS you and keep you and your family well. Thank you again.
Office staff was fantastic. He highly recommends the support group which meets once a month. Aftercare is scheduled and expected. Overall I would rate him as a 9.

Dr. Canady was warm, gracious, and knowledgeable and made me feel comfortable from the moment I met him. He thoroughly and honestly explained the procedures and risks.

He performs the surgery through the Holzer Center for Comprehensive Weight Loss which has assembled an entire team devoted to lifelong aftercare and support including the surgeons, a dietician, a psychiatrist, a bariatric counselor (who has actually undergone the procedure and has successfully reached her goal), and an R.N. No matter how many questions I've had for anyone associated with Holzer, they've responded either by phone or e-mail promptly and professionally and always with a smile in their voices/e-mails.

There are also monthly support group meetings attended by the bariatric counselor, the dietician, the R.N., and the surgeons in the practice. There are testimonials followed by frank discussions by the medical personnel on topics relating to bariatric surgery and its risks.

These meetings are open to individuals contemplating the surgery as well as those who have already had it. It is required for all post-surgery patients to attend these meetings for at least one year following surgery.

They make the meetings meaningful and fun. They are even in the process of setting up a cruise for all patients that are interested in order for everyone attending the support groups to be able spend more time together.

The staff of the center visits you following surgery and several people in the support group meeting were even saying they received flowers from the center, wishing them a speedy recovery.

I am now 2 weeks post-op and wanted to give my thanks to Dr. Mike Canady & his staff. I have been very please with the care I have received from Dr. Canady and his office staff. They really let you know that you are important and that they care about you. My experience with wls has been very good. I would also encourage anyone considering the Holzer Clinic Weight Loss program to go to their monthly meetings. You can meet the doctors and their staff. The meetings are very informative and encouraging. They meet at Holzer Clinic on the 1st Monday of every month at 6:30.

I work with Dr. Canady and so I knew him before I made this decision. He was very thorough and answered all my questions although I did write them all down and just went thru them. But I was already familiar with the surgery as my sister and my neice both have had it done by Dr. Canady. My sister in October 2002 and my neice in September 2002. Both doing well. The staff was very nice. I wanted information before they were ready to give it to me but other than that I have no complaints. He didn't emphasize the aftercare but one of the staff did. He explained that he won't do the surgery on someone that he feels is a health risk. As he put it "he has to be able to sleep with himself". I would rate him excellent and would not want any other doctor doing the surgery.

I WENT TO HOLZER FOR MY CONSULT.DR.STONE WAS THE FIRST ONE I SPOKE WITH THAT DAY.HE SAT DOWN BESIDE ME AND BEGAN.WE BRIEFLY SPOKE ABOUT OUR FAITH IN GOD.HE RIDES A HARLEY AS AND MY ONLY DAUGHTER DOES AS WELL.

SO WE HAD THE ICE BREAKER SO TO SPEAK BEFORE HE BEGAN.THROUGH EVERY STEP OF THE SURGERY HE EXPLAINED,ALSO CAME WHAT COULD ALSO HAPPEN OR GO WRONG..THAT TO ME WAS WONDERFUL.EVERY STEP OF THE WAY,HE EXPLAINED MY COMPLICATIONS OF WHAT CAN HAPPEN.EACH STEP HE KEPT SAYING,DEATH CAN OCCUR AS WELL AS OTHER COMPLICATIONS THAT CAN BE TREATED.BUT WANTED TO INSTEEL THAT DEATH CAN OCCUR.

SO HIS FIRST IMPRESSION WILL NEVER CHANGE OF HIM.DIRECT AND TO THE POINT.I COULD NOT HAVE ASK FOR ANYONE BETTER.I WAS TREATED BY HIS OFFICE STAFF IN THE SAME MANNER.

HE WENT ON TO EXPLAIN WHAT I CAN EXPECT FROM THE DAY OF SURGERY,TO DAY OF BEING RELEASED FROM THE HOSPITAL,TO FOLLOW UP VISITS,TO SUPPORT GROUP MEETINGS.I WOULD RECOMMEND HIM TO ANY OF MY FRIENDS OR FAMILY.

I HAVE COMPLETE FAITH IN HIM AS MY DOCTOR.THAT IS JUST WHAT HE IS TO ME,MY DOCTOR. I HAVE COMPLETE FAITH IN THE LORD THAT HE SENT DOCTOR STONE TO ME.WE HAVE CROSSED PATHS SO HE COULD START ME ON A GOOD ROAD TO A NEW WAY OF LIVING.BEGINNING A NEW CHAPTER FOR MY HEALTH AND WAY OF LIVING.

The first impression I recieved was of a friendly, kind man. He came in dressed casually and not in the intimidating Dr. coat. We sat down in a comfortable setting and he talked us thru everything. Answered questions we asked (and we asked some that I considered silly). I'm sure I'll be able to post more as my surgery date approaches. But I feel confidante with him as my surgeon. When I told my family dr about the surgery he even suggested Dr. Canaday.

DR Canady was my dad's surgeon. I worked in the OR for a while and I got to see first hand what kind a surgeon of a surgeon he was. Everyone was very nice. Eager to answer my questions. Terry the couselor showed her before and after pictures. Amy, the first dietician had to leave, and Sarah, the new dietician, both were always willing to answer questions when I had one. I had great care after my surgery. A support group held the 1st Monday of the month. The Holzer Medical Center for Comprehensive Weight Loss office is always available if you have problems or questions. I had a small problem with medications after I got home from the hospital. Dr. Canady and April Mclain were so helpful in taking care of then matter. I was told of the risks of the surgery. I have worked in the OR, but now work in the endo dept. and have seen what could happen after the surgery. Some could develope ulcers and others strictures and have to be dialated. These problems can be taken care of. When I decided to have the surgery, I didn't give these problems a second thought. I knew this was what was ment for me to do. I had prayed about it so often and knew the Lord would be there to protect me. I din't have any problems with my insition. No pain, just some soreness, which is natural. I had some vomiting the first 3 mos. I couldn'd get a handle on my eating. I still have a great problem with that. I say surgical competence is the most important, but bedside manner would be great too.

HE WAS A VERY FRIENDLY DOCTOR, WILLING TO ANSWER ALL QUESTIONS THAT I HAD. WILLING TO ANSWER ANY MORE WHEN WE WILL MET AGAIN. HE WANTED ME TO WRITE DOWN ANYTHING THAT I WANTED TO DISCUSS.

SO FAR I STILL THINK HIGHLY OF HIM. HE TOLD ME HIS EDUCATIONAL HISTORY.

OFFICE STAFF IS VERY HELPFUL, THE LEAST THINK I LIKE IS ABOUT THE EVULATION. IT HAS NOT COMPLETED THE EVULATIONS WHICH IS HOLDING UP ON MY SURGERY DATE TO BE PROCESSED

EVERYTHING HAS BEEN PRETTY WELL EXCEPT FOR THE WAIT ON THE EVULATION.

I HAVE MY DATE MARCH 6, 2002. I WENT TO MY FIRST SUPPORT MEETING AND BOTH DR STONE AND DR CANADY WERE THEIR. THEY WERE BOTH INFORMATIVE. THE ROOM HAD ALOT OF PEOPLE IN IT. THEY ALL SEEM TO LIKE THE DOCTORS. THEY WERE WILLING TO ANSWER ANY QUESTION THAT YOU HAD. THEY SHOW GRAFTS AND GAVE EXAMPLE OF SOME DATA. THE GROUP AND DOCTORS WHERE VERY HELPFUL.
